Hello absolutely love your video thank you for sharing it with us I have a question people have told me that if you do pressure can bacon the way you're doing it but the shelf life is only 3 months to a year

Pine needles are a great mulch for perennial plants. I have used them for decades on blueberries (we are in Wisconsin). Thanks for pointing out the misconception that pine needles lower soil pH. Blueberries need a low pH, but I use pine needles because it is a great mulch, NOT to lower soil pH. A couple other characteristics of pine needles: 1. they are relatively weed free (some weed seed, but far less than straw from oats, wheat, barley, etc), 2. They break down quickly, so they need to be reapplied almost every year around perennial plants.

So, two years later...how did it do? Are you still using it? Why or why not? Thanks!

Great video. Pine mulch does not modify PH significantly. No need to worry about green needles, since they are dry when they fall. 😊

It’s safer not to stack them, though. You want to know for sure if a seal fails snd any weight on them can prevent that.

Always looking for something to do with all my pine needles! If you haven't tried one the Groundskeeper II rake, it works wonders on picking up pine straw. It pulls the needles out and doesn't scarify anything below its magic!

Most of what you have not very many people are willing to choke on.. my grandmother had a cellar for canning. Peaches and pears, rhubarb and green beans but nothing grotesque or weirdly looking ever allowed. And green tomatoes have no nutritional value and cause young boys to get foot hand and mouth disease. Facts...

I've always used pine straw in my garden for mulch no problem. Easy to move and free from my driveway. I hear chickens in your background, I hope you are using your free pine straw in their coop as well. It works great, and smells good. I've never bought any bedding or mulch in 10 years. I also learned my rabbits can eat the green needles and like the cones. I used pine straw to line their cages during the deep freeze week, and they loved that too.

Can confirm everything you mentioned! For winter protection of root crops, I'll put a layer of mulched leaves and top it with pine straw. Keeps the leaves in place and the pine doesn't blow away.. works very well on high, raised mounds. Keeps weeds at bay, too.

Thank you. I purchased several lbs of bacon ends, scrap etc.and wondered how to can it. I PC canned some very thin bacon a few days ago hoping to just have a pt of bacon grease with some small bacon chips. This way may come in handy because some these pieces are thick. Have you ever canned flavored bacon like maple, vanilla or rum
