modern doctors meeting old companions is the best. i think it would be great if 15 came back and met martha and ricky just to get some reactions both ways.

RTD did a great job of writing for not just the Doctor here, but specifically Eleven, it never comes across as a Tennant rehash.

I'm finally making my way through old Who after all these years and this hits so much differently. The early days of 3 and Jo... he was absolute garbage to her. They came around, sure, but those early days... she never stopped trying to live up to his expectations to the point of a near trauma response.

It was a great scene, but I think a quick cut to Sarah would have worked very well. So much of what Jo says must have struck home hard for her. 10 had already confessed his grief to Sarah, grief over having friends who died so quickly from his perspective. There some discussion where they were talking about everyone still being alive in the Doctor's mind, since he had a time machine. I always thought that having Rose (or any companion) have a romantic connection with the Doctor was a mistake. I wonder how long before they give him (or her) a boyfriend.

I did like the fact RTD made this episode, it’s kinda like an Epilogue to both the RTD era and the Jon Pertwee Years

The 11h doctor was the oldest soul.

The reveal that 11 should have been his last incarnation and he visted all the classic companions too is heartbreaking

Jo was on for three years and this Doctor pretty much treated her like crap. Sad.

Big Finish just released a new Third Doctor Adventures boxset called "The Return of Jo Jones" where Jo reunites with the Third Doctor and she tells him about when she met the Eleventh Doctor and described him as "the very young chap with hair and bowtie."

I love scenes like this because it makes it so clear that the Doctor is the same person, just cycling through different appearances.

I always knew that Dr. Who was the inspiration for Peter Pan, and his little thing just confirms it pity that nobody’s ever thought to write that as a story.

JO: It really is you, isn't it? DOCTOR: Hello. I was honestly expecting the Doctor to say "Hello... you ham-fisted bun vendor." lol

Anyone noticed the machine they're working on looks suspiciously like the 12th doctors screwdriver?

It's so sad to think about how 11 did not want to answer Sarah Jane after she asked if 10 had been alright in the end. He did not want to make her upset because truthfully, 10 had been really sad in his final moments. He had also died alone and did not want to change. So 11 thought it best not to answer and just decided to change the subject instead. It is so heartbreaking to think about...

No matter where this man flies that big blue box he always manages to fly it back into the friends that's he's made along his journey.

I watched this episode as it contained The Doctor the line should of been “I’ve regenerated loads since we last met continued to explore and during the last time you saw me (3rd) met Sarah Jane a few weeks later and saw some amazing things some you’ve seen before some you’ve not seen but I’ll tell you all my adventures of what we have been up to since we last met”

If only the Brig could have been in this scene.

Does anyone else picture Jon Pertwee talking to her in a Matt Smith body? That’s one reason I stopped watch the new series. They won’t acknowledge the classic series companions with cameos.

This is so excellent and the new stuff isn't.

I'm old enough too remember Jo's last episode back in the green death back in the 1970s so it great to catch up with her again after all those years.

A lot of people say that the doctor is a bit cold, leaving his older companions like Jo and the Grenadier behind, but I personally think he was trying to give them a gift. Traveling with the doctor, you can see amazing things, moments in history sung about thousands of years later, but in between that, you don't live, you just run. From place and time to place and time, and someday, many, many many people just cant keep running, and find it time to go home, whether they realize it or not. Jo found the love of her life and did things even the Doctor hasn't done.

Jo: So you've got a married couple in the TARDIS? Eleven: Mr. and Mrs. Pond :) Jo: I only left you because I got married... Eleven: (Uhhh)

I think everyone needs someone like Jo in their lives. :)

I just love how a new doctor who actor who never met that actor who played the one being referred here can just continue, so convincingly. And you believe its the same personal.

Sarah-Jane has aged better than Jo Grant, it seems to me. Elisabeth Sladen was actually a few months older than Katy Manning, but you wouldn't think so.

For some reason it just made me so happy when I saw 11, my personal favorite Doctor, connecting so deeply to both the RTD era and parts of Who that i wasn’t even alive for. Seeing it all connect, even in a relatively meh story like this, just felt like a piece of history.
