Long may Glasgow City Council stay skint as there will be no money to replace those as the mechanicals are nearly 50 years old. Probably the last really interesting public lifts in the city.

They kept this, yet scrapped the Otis scenic lift that used to be in the centre pyramid of The Forge.😭

With a question mark hanging over the St Enoch Centre's future enjoy these whilst they still exist.

Lol i remember getting stuck in one of them in 1990 when I made an illicit visit into town without my parents knowledge! That was a tense moment!

Not modernised or spoiled in any way, but all the lifts in the BG are getting tired looking now. Expect a soulless modernisation any time soon.

Back in the early 1990s when the St Enoch Centre was new those lifts were the stuff of wonder to a kid. I could play in them for hours. Pity the modernisation has robbed them of their original character with generic fixtures.

This lift is so fucked, just look at the COPs. Also when I went to UG to look outside when my dad was in the lift the door closed and he said he pressed door open and was trying to hold the door while I pressed the call but it didn’t do anything just kept closing

perhaps its possible the left one used to stop at those floors then it was changed after the dewhurst was put in? wouldnt make sense to have the buttons in the left one if it never used to stop there at some point, and it might explain why its lester call buttons on those two floors. genuinely had no idea they were like this because i never went to 4 or 5 when i filmed them lol

Reminds me a lot of the swedish generic lifts.

FUN FACT: In romanian "fain" translates to "nice", which surely defines that Mitsubishis are always on top! :P

Both cars have got the airplane-alike sound during downwards journeys but they don't sound clearly as it seems.

The lift is horrible in every way posible, but that type of indicators are specially nice when they have all of their animations on - recreation: th-cam.com/users/shorts45qH3Ok5V-w Lots of lifts like that with the smaller crappy indicator in Spain sadly

Ouch. That lift has certainly seen better days - always makes me sad seeing one of my favourite lifts, Otis 2000s in such bad condition.

last couple of years for these lifts have been awful. Blue indicator one been broken so many times (or just for an extremely long time) and this one having relevelling issues for a time and also that one button panel being completely out of use now. Bet it wont be long before the modded kone novel's fixtures go a similar way if they havent already (its too boring for me to even bother looking at since the mod lol)
