gods it took me an hour and a half to defeat Raphael in my first game, on explorer mode. I didn't even have to restart, though! I just kept brute forcing it, shooting him with smokepowder arrows and repeatedly Helping my downed characters. I think I had to use a revivify scroll once, and by the end I didn't even bother reviving either Shadowheart or Astarion, can't remember, I just kept hitting and eventually....! I didn't take his deal, though, so he was just mad that I stole the hammer and Hope. I had tried to save Hope but somewhere in the mess she died. I did use her divine intervention, and I saw a comment here that seems to imply that automatically kills her, so maybe that was it? Idk! Liiiiiiiiiiives, all mortal liiiiiiiiiiives!!!!!

Why the party? Only Tav signed the contract

I accidentally went to the house of hope in my normal level 12 end game gear, he didn’t like it since I already held the stones, and was fully capped gear wise. He drops so fast when you are geared up. I also wrecked all of them I didn’t need the big man since the netherbrain stands no chance vs my builds. Monk alone does 300+ damage and Gale stacked does eldrich x12 which is more than enough to murder the brain. And that’s heroic mode, stealth pots and go.

That was genuinely so scary 😭😂

This made me realize in all my playthroughs, I have not once taken the deal he offers. I always end up there later to take the Hammer and kill Raphael anyway, no contract needed. I simply take what I want.

A bit disappointing there is no extra cutscene of the party dying while Raphael consumes their souls.

4:42 Those scary noises only ever play when a Maneater is enraged and close by in my experience, but they aren't very consistent. I think it happens when the Maneater is enraged, you've seen it enraged, and it is semi-far away. I've been wanting an upload of just the music, but I haven't found one yet :(
