Titanic Boat Train Heritage Trust: An Introduction
In early 2021, it came to light that two former London & South Western Railway (LSWR) dining saloons, that had been languishing at a heritage railway in South Wales for many years, were in imminent danger of being broken up if a new home for them could not be found. The significance of these railway carriages is that they are the sole survivors of the exact type that formed the Boat Trains that ferried passengers from Waterloo to Southampton, for boarding Titanic on the morning of April the 10th 1912.
The Titanic Boat Train Heritage Trust (TBTHT) has been set up, by a partnership between the British Titanic Society and the LSWR Carriage Group, forming a talented team of historians and experienced craftsmen to take this huge project forward.

Titanic's Linoleum Tiles
มุมมอง 1522 ปีที่แล้ว
Linoleum tiles were used extensively by the White Star Line, and other shipping companies, as they were ideal for heavy traffic areas, principally in the Second- and Third-Class areas where expensive carpets could not be warranted. Linoleum was created by an English hairbrush manufacturer named Frederick Walton. The name derives from two of the main components, Linum (Latin for Flax), and Oleum...

Lusitania, New York, September 1907
มุมมอง 964 ปีที่แล้ว
A different look at the well known photograph of Lusitania arriving in New York on September the 13th, after crossing the Atlantic from Queenstown in 5 days and just under 2 hours., but missing out on the Blue Riband. As reported in the Western Times the next day ... "Lusitania can beat anything afloat, but she cannot beat fog"

Guitarist and one of my oldest friend Robin Freeman composed this piece and over mixed the voices of President Tump. In his words when originally produced .. "The guitar melody came first. Then the president joined in..." So now I have produced "The Movie"
Harland & Wolff: Cradle of the White Star Liners

In 1871, Harland & Wolff completed the first passenger liner, Oceanic, for the Oceanic Steam Navigation Company, forever known as the White Star Line. Thereafter, over fifty years of its prestigious shipbuilding history, the Belfast shipyard built nearly all of the White Star fleet, totalling some fifty passenger ships, including the legendary liners Olympic, Titanic, and Britannic.

The Supermarine Flying Boats of R.J. Mitchell
I was Greaser then EDH on the Bransfield 1977 to 1980.I wish I could turn the clock back definitely the best ship I have ever worked on.I will never forget Captain Stewart Laurence and his kindness he all way's carried plenty money with him when we was all ashore in Montevideo in case any one run out and sign a beer mat. He looked after us well.
Drag must have been tremendous but speed low
Superb video, well produced. Please do one on the Walrus...Thank you.
How big where these squares in cm
Hi there .... the unbordered tiles shown in the video, from the Second- and Third-Class areas on the Olympic-Class liners, are six inches (fifteen centimetres) square. There are also boardered version that are nine inches (23 centimetres square). I actually make half-scale reproductions of all of the types of tiles. Can be seen here facebook.com/marinerfinearts/
Great memories.I was a crew member of Bransfield in the summer of 1990/91 .
That man is surely one of the.........Few.
Aced your video mate. Thank you.
Much enjoyed , Thanks !
what
Excellent production! That 1930s seaplane era is fascinating and I see the names Pemberton Billing and Scott Payne included - are there books you would recommend to learn more of that whole scene?
The book Supermarine Aircraft Since 1914 is a great book about Supermarine aicraft
After many years faffing about I finally had all my old cine film digitised (3500') and have now started the long process of turning this and all my old stills into a dvd (quaint) covering my time at Halley. I also have around 15k slides from 1984 to 2007 and a great deal of video. This will be turned into a few more vids covering ships, bases and other travels with BAS. Some of the old cine has bought back a lot of memories and I hope to put this on the cloud for public consumption via Z Fids when vids are finished. Of course there are a lot of things that I wish I had filmed but cant go back over 40 years !.
Halley 3 typo ? I was there in 1978 and not crushed so I presume you meant it closed in 1983 (;<))
Thanks for pointing that out Pat ... a typo indeed!
In fact Pat, the base was still occupied up until 1984 even though Halley IV had been completed the previous year. So thanks again for bringing the error to may attention.
"If these blighter burn them :'m shut myself in and burn with them". 😂🤣💀
Went very nicely with the ODNB of Mitchell today. Thanks!
Fantastic. Gave me goose bumps!
" I'll get inside them and they can bloody well burn them with me inside"! What an amazing gentleman. Hats off to you Sir for taking care of them as best as you could for 30 years!
Yes ... I met with him at the time of the broadcast, and he is an astonishing man ...
that looks scary
true
Really captures the age well .
The music is good. The video is a bit slanted. But I'm still a friend of Clive. Hope to sail the QM2 with you my friend!
Very good Clive, well done.
Thank you ... your kind comments much appreciated.
Nice one Clive - much appreciated. And, thank you. :o) Regards Tim Stewart
