Särimner historical european martial arts. Last few years we have lost our selves completely to napoleonic era martial arts. So sabre, spadroon, smallsword, cutlass and muskets/bayonet has been our main focus.
The name Särimner, is a name we kept from our days in reenactment. And just like the pig/boar of mythology we will come back for more no matter what damage was done to us in the day previously. Or to take it deeper we will learn from our mistakes and come back hopefully improved.

We invited some other clubs in south Sweden for at bit of hanging out and sparring at the beach ending it with some group combat games using a pike and a few muskets. A very enjoyable evening.

Had a sparring session later in the day as it was a warm day topping out at 28C which is a lot for where we are. So we had a duel at dusk.

would these be okay to use with red dragon gloves or HF Firestone 2? as far as protection goes
@danielnunez7424 with unmodified old type reddragons I would have to say no. That said I did use them for a long time. But also had a finger broken. I would recommend Thokk gloves for any steel sabre sparring.
Who made the spadroons?

You must use a wet clay for practice cutting 😊
@steelpill I wouldn't cut clay with sharps. But I have done it with blunts, and for that, I love it.

Alas, some are from neyman fencing and can not be bought anymore. The one I use is a spes but shortened and with replaced braiding.

There are 3 fencers. But yes footwork is something we have talked about lately, it need a lot of work.

Some are neyman fencing 800N they are not available anymore. The other is a customized spes jacket and pants. Spes in Poland.

I would say the wielder, not the weapon, would decide. There were good sabres and bad sabres. Good katana and bad ones. But given they are of the same quality it would come down to the one using it.
So a saber and a katana are essentially equal? 🙄
@@user-cz9dt3qh1q well one is used 1 handed the other mostly 2 handed. Different weapons. What I tried to say above is that it's all about the context, I can't really compare in a generic way. Hope this helps.

What is that jacket, the fencers are wearing on the 1st clip? Haven't seen that pattern on any of the more popular sites with hema gear.
Those are from Neyman fencing in poland. They unfortunately went out of business a few years back.

What kind of sabres are you using? They don't look like the common stuff that's used for sparring. And they look quite heavy, too. Great video btw!
They are from black fencer in spain. Not heavy at all 750-850 grams. We like the look and feel. And thank you!

Was it considered 'honourable' to go for the legs?
Well, it's a valid target in the military sabre manuals we use for reference. So I guess yes. Not always recommended though as a cut to your opponents leg could leave you open.
I can't imagine cleaning all that sand out of my gear haha
It's fine. Just dont fall. Early on, we used to kick sand at each other to distract. It ended when I managed to get it into my training partners eyes through the mesh of the mask. And also there was a lot of sand to clean.

What gloves do you guys use when sparring with steel? My Red Dragons are wearing out and I am looking to see if there are any more protective alternatives that keep decent hand and wrist dexterity. Also is the guy on the left using the SPES Atilla Jacket? I've been considering getting that one, how does it compare to the SPES Officer Jacket? Also I never thought about temperature making steel blades brittle, I suppose there is always a place for the nylon swords still even after acquiring steel blades.
We use weaopn master gloves from facebook.com/thokkpersonalarmor the spes attilia is customized shortened and other braiding added.

Thats a neyman fencing custom jacket. Unfortunately they are no longer in business.
