Sue's Bulgarian lifestyle
Bulgaria
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 8 ต.ค. 2015
I first came to Bulgaria in 2011 and was captivated by the rich culture and vibrant traditions. I immersed myself into the local lifestyle raising animals and tending my garden. The warm hospitality and generosity of the locals was something I had not come across back in the UK. Someone was always popping round with a gift from their garden or some delightful food they had made.
The local market has always been one of my favourite places to go. The stall holders are so welcoming and love to chat making you feel you belong. It is a weekly ritual to go there and support the local traders.
As you travel around the country exploring you are amazed at the beautiful scenery. On the east coast you find the sandy beaches of the popular holiday resorts which are packed in the Summer months. Going inland there are stunning mountain ranges, huge reservoirs and many rolling hills. The capitol of Bulgaria is Sofia which is a vibrant modern city.

Looking good. Well done!
Beautiful horses in stunning scenery
Nice video again. It makes you wonder how the shop owners make a living. We were in VT last year and even though it is very touristy the shops were very quiet.
Unfortunately since covid so many places closed to never reopen. That coupled with the amount of younger people that leave their home country to work elsewhere for more money.
@suetoy8814 One of the downsides of The EU. If you can freely travel to earn more money, young people will do just that. Enriching the wealthier countries at the expense of the poorer ones.
@@michaelhartshorne6154 Very true
Lovely not sure about the climb back up lol.
Yes it was steep. Ian waited at the top, couldn't face the hike lol
Beautiful bird
Always a pleasure to watch them
Love moussaka . Look forward to it lol 😂
Ian enjoyed it.
How do you water now and as it gets hotter.
At the moment I am just watering the newly planted fruit trees, tomatoes and patio plants with watering cans from the tap. If we don't get some rain soon though the hosepipe will be out. Unfortunately we don't have a well on our property. I am concerned about summer though. I can see frequent trips down to the river with the 10 litre water bottles. I am filling bottles as we use them and storing in the cellar as an emergency backup.
Looks scrummy, so wanted to see you do it on camera, but do tell me off camera you licked the spoon? :)
Without a doubt 😂 too good to waste
Great video Sue. I am so envious. I would love to live in Bulgaria but my wife is a real homebird even though it seems like the UK is going from bad to worse. We've been to Bulgaris many times and have a good Bulgarian friend who lives in Veliko Tarnovo. What area are you in? Keep the videos coming. Who knows I may persuade her to up sticks one day.
Thanks. We live in the north west of Bulgaria now close to the town of Kozloduy. We actually spent 3 years in a village about 18km from Veliko Turnovo. It's not always been eassy but as you get to know Bulgaria and how things work you accept it. The part I don't like is all the paperwork for everything. Whereas in the UK you can arraange most things online from the comfort of home here everything needs to be done in person. Apart from that we love it here. Certainly the way the UK is going I definitely wouldn't want to live there now. Good luck with persuading your wife.
Never had a moussaka with potato before. Will ask the wife to try this recipe 👍
Very easy to make. Hope you enjoy it
Are they English potatoes
They are imported from Holland.
It's nice to see spring in your garden!
Thanks
