    I really dig your content, however, the way you talk about sotrytelling makes me suffer a little, like someones trying to inflate something non essential, like you think Im stupid and my time is worth nothing and you are just spoon feeding me cheap emotions. I know thats not your intention, but I and everyone I talk to is fed up with the content modality. Paradoxically, I can see that it works like a charm for many artists. Id love to be able to make better things. Is it really a necessity to talk like that, to sell those kind of stories? I really appreciate your work and take many things out of your videos, but I felt that starting that conversation with people form your community is valuable. Not a native speaker, so sorry if Im not clear

      You were very clear, thanks for the comment! I would say that, in my shoe story, I did inflate something non essential. But when storytelling about your journey, you can use those techniques to enhance things that are essential to your story more than inflate things that don’t matter. Hope this helps! Deep and very on point! so many should do it as a hobby, nothing wrong in that, in fact that's how a lot of music gear is sold..If their why is shallow and materialistic, then expect the worst, when music as an art should be held as the 'highest form of expression' and artists should look deep inside and ask themselves what they are willing to fight for, and sacrifice long term for. Only a few out of many can do this, and act on it, because of lack of internal work. 'When a vision is not acted upon, it's a daydream, action without vision is a nightmare!'

  • @WilliamPayneNZ
    @WilliamPayneNZ 6 วันที่ผ่านมา

    I am not a musician and I am not sure how this video arrived on my feed. But I do love music so I still have a question. Do you think that expectations today are realistic? Going way way back. I am a big fan of The Allman Brothers Band. They formed in 1969 so they fall under that golden era of American bands. In 1970, only their second year as a band they spent 300 days of that year on the road touring. They all lived in one big house together and made their name on the road like traveling gypsies. Even later after they had some success they brought a farm together and all lived in the country together on a farm. They have a famous album cover where it shows them all together with their road crew and wives and girlfriends and kids all on the farm together. Basically living a commune like existence. I know today is not 1970 and it is a very different time. But are musicians today putting in the time and sacrifice that musicians of the past did?

    One of my mentors insisted that although he didn't insist on or care about what religion a person subscribed to, he believes it is impossible for an atheist to last in the music business, because you must believe a divine power wants you to be involved in it or you aren't going to persevere. I don't agree, but I understand. Regarding alignment, If one feels it is bad to have a money making business, one's goals must be based on something other than money, right?

    • @ZackMester
      @ZackMester 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      It seems that business tends to be at odds with what is considered spiritual (or psychologically healthy in secular terms), but he is trying to dispel that notion and say that your music business is actually promoting a good that people want/need. I think the notion that business profit is bad comes from the fact that billionaires in the US have a history of exploitation so movies portray that excessive greed as bad. However, being able to run a modest business based on art will never even come close to that level of greed and exploitation of absolutely necessary resources. You can believe in a higher power if you want but the point is you can use basic business strategies to prolong and bolster your music career and it actually benefits everyone’s psychological state in the process.

      @@MusiciansIgnite Dax. It really amazes me how too much off an ignorant i was regarding all these advice. It isnt like i didnt have it back in the day, but i was such a smart ass and thought i was too good to put some off that to use. Now that i ve stumbled across your channel, 3 months by now, all off these came to click in My life when i was open enough and in need for it. Once again, massive thanks, Dax. Your channel deserve to grow even more, lets give it time. Sure as phuck, you're putting the work to make it ovahere. So, you're meant to garner all the gratitude and atention from SO much more viewers to come.

    If Joe pays 10$ to Spotify per month and only ever listens to my music, those 10$ are still distributed mostly to major artists, instead of going to the artists he listens to. That is unfair and there is no way to talk it down. This system was also forced upon Spotify by major labels.

      That’s true but it sort of misses the core of the issue. If your song is streamed, you will be paid a royalty for that stream (once you meet Spotify’s 1k stream threshold). The reason most of that $10 goes to major labels is because they get a majority of the streams and therefore a majority of the subscription revenue from Spotify goes to pay what major artists have earned. They get paid more because they have more streams, and so Spotify needs all the revenue it can to pay artists. Paying royalties is like 70% of the expenses of Spotify.
