ALL of those "mechanical errors" look a lot like reverted ticks, usually because the books weren't cold pressed or were sent in without waiting a few months to see if the ticks would revert after pressing.

This looks like one of the earliest banana book returns on YT. Lots of them look bent in the case with some waves along the spine.

I recently got back my first CGC submission (August 2024). One of the books was an ASM #252, 9.6. I don’t see any warping. However, I noticed with one or two other books, there was a slight but noticeable bend near the middle of the spine. It seems to me that the vacuum seal of the inner well is at least partially responsible for some of the damage.

Wow! I never have seen such poor quality control! Never thought that with all the banana gate stuff going on that there is a case this severe!

Not sure who is more brainwashed... people who still send books to CGC, or people who believe crime is down in the USA? Sorry for your loss, CGC destroyed some of my books years ago, and I'm talking ASM #1 & TOS 39. They ruin your books, but still give it a high grade so that removes them from any responsibility. But if I bought that ASM 9.4 from you, I'd promptly return it. If books inside CGC holders don't honestly match the grade, I don't want it.

If they don’t arrive bowed, they will most likely arrive with scuff marks, blemishes, scratches, interior debris, or Newton Rings. I’m at that point of stopping my grading with them. It’s some of the worst quality control I’ve ever seen out of any company I’ve worked with in or out of the industry.

Stop giving CGC your money. Problem solved. They are the only ones making money in the comic business....at your expense.

I only have one graded book, it's from CGC, and I just went to check it after this video. It is warped, albeit not as bad as the ones shown in this video. Absolutely crazy that a company meant to preserve these books would be ok with this. But that's why they have the reputation they do now I guess. Glad I only bought one graded book, I will stick to raw from now on.

Lucky it is not me cause id be getting in my car and taking a drive to Florida. And i wouldnt leave till my shit was fixed

They probably only stopped using those wells when they ran out of their current supply😅 now they are using the one size up .

I only trust CBCS to grade and handle my comics. Best slab in the industry too!

If a bend in a comic doesn't affect grade why don't they give bent comics 9.8s?

Grading companies are a complete scam. Just grifters in it for as much money as people will throw at them. PSA is the exact same. Send a card in 3 times and get a different grade every time.

Poor CGC Mike is right! Your pointing out of the contradictions is spot on! And the letter from CGC Mike is a missing part of the puzzle. Since you have access to the CGC boards, please look up dmt02908 "CGC QC Warped Inner Cases." It may or may not be available at this point since I let my membership lapse, but there are so many issues, in addition to the inner well issue, that I bring up there. I saw a recent video where somebody traced the problem back with their own submissions to a couple months last year, but my post is dated last year (2023) and discusses this and other problems with books that were submitted to CGC the previous year (2022).

Holy crap! I'll be honest, when I first starting hearing rumblings of this problem I was thinking to myself people are over reacting there's no way books are bending enough to be damaged. But now that I'm seeing some of these videos where people like yourself are showing the damage... Just wow. This is some major BS. I get it, mistakes happen in design and manufacture... But any halfway decent company would own up to their mistake and make it right. HOW CAN THEY LOOK AT YOUR BOOKS YOU SENT BACK AND SAY THAT'S OK????

I have never and will never understand people submitting books to be graded by strangers instead of just grading and protecting it themselves.

All the proof you need to stop getting comics graded

We need a legit company to grade comics. Doesn’t make sense. Coins and sports cards have great grading service but comics have to deal with CGC and for some stupid reason CBCS doesn’t sell for anywhere near the same price as CGC.

I've received hundreds of books from CGC with this and/or other problems. Additionally, I had many issues with CGC not taking my concerns seriously all the way up to the president. I don't understand how this happens? Is it during the process of sealing it in the casing? Do they bend it when they're examining it for grading? I don't have any slabbed books myself, but now I doubt I ever will.
