GUIDE TO THE WEST COAST TRAIL
So you want to hike The West Coast Trail huh? Well you've come to the right place.
The WCT is a 75km multi day backpacking trail in the Pacific Rim National Park on Vancouver Island. It boasts world class views and breath taking scenery which will leave you more in love with BC's coast line than you were before.
I've created a mini guide/VLOG of our time on the WCT, and I hope it helps you prepare for your adventure of a lifetime. I've attached some links of value below to go along with the content of the video.

Thought about back in 2002 at 40, just never got to it. 2022 I turn 60, seems like a killer goal, thus the binging on WCT videos. My body will be 60 but my mind is sooo much younger. Nice video. Will shoot my trip with gopro, and also the Fusion 360. - Cheers

Sadly you were sooooooo close to 2 more copper mines that are just slightly ahead of that one, on the same path! About 2 minutes forward. Dang! Did you also catch the abandoned cabin? Thanks for the fun video!! I love these trails.

What was the average pack weight everyone carried??
I think the average weight was around 40-45lbs. Obviously it gets lighter the longer you hike. I could have packed less and lighter, but sometimes creature comforts take priority ;)
@@ColinRutherfordFilms that's not so bad. I usually average 35lbs for 3 days and 45lbs in winter, so kind of around the weight I was guessing. Thanks

Nice video. Having done the full sea kayak circumnavigation of Vancouver Island twice so far, it is nice to see this section from the perspective of a backpacker. I'll certainly be doing this backpacking trip sometime in the next couple years. Just subscribed! May mention this video in one of my next videos as well.

It's about 5ish hours per day. Since its along the coast, there isn't any crazy elevation gain so you can cover quite a bit of ground in those 5 hours!!
Where are you from? This was alright but...head to the 'North' Island for more rugged adventures through old growth forests!! You will love it guaranteed!! We could hook you up if you come!
Nikki Hark I’m from the big bad city of Vancouver. We were visiting a friend in Victoria, so this was a close drive. Hope you enjoyed the video!! The island has so many amazing hikes!! I recently completed the WCT in the summer. Hope to explore more of your backyard!!
Ah! Victoria is nice, for sure and closer for you. Yes, loved your video...it reminded us of our time there years ago!! We are about 4-41/2 hours drive from the ferry. If you come, plan to spend a couple of weeks and keep in mind, we get way more rain than Campbell River and the South Island! Pack waterproof and layers! Always a cold breeze by the ocean in the afternoons up here. It's worth it though, for those looking for an adventure☺️

Hi Ivan. We went Canada day long weekend. We didn’t see any bears, but it wouldn’t surprise me if it would be common to see them. As for hiking alone, that’s dependant on your outdoor abilities. It’s a pretty popular hike so you’re granted to see other hikers. The camp sites are usually fully booked. Hope this helps!!
