Hi, I live in Poole, Dorset but I grew up in S-o-T. I love seeing your videos. I grew up in Trentham and watching this takes me back years. I think your start point is Magdallen road Blurton, I used to swim in the school pool there as a child.

Thanks for this, memories come flooding back. I graduated in 1996 and much has changed. For 1990s students, the video really starts @ 5:35. The road to the general entrance did not exist, access to Keele Road was via Barnes Hall. There were only 2 Science Park buildings, no faculties of medicine/vet science either. @ 20:21 Good to see the grotty Horwood Bar has gone. No BT phone booths anymore. Back then, there were no telephones in rooms or Halls of residences and mobiles did not exist! You had to queue up. You missed keele village, The Oaks and Holly Cross Halls, that's a shame. More modern accommodation but, alas, far more expensive. I also remember the library to be seriously small and we were 3,000 students. I cannot imagine what it must be like for 11,000 students! Keele remains a cosy university. The problem is the local area. Newcastle-under-Lyme has only had a cinema since 2002 and prior to that Keele students relied on FilmSoc for entertainment. It also takes 40 mins to reach Stoke by bus and you seriously do not want to go there. Unlike other unis like Warwick, there are no close supermarkets nearby for shopping. As for the student cohort, many northerners, very few from down south. Raised in Kent, I should have attended university in Canterbury instead. Canterbury has much more to offer than Stoke and mainland Europe and London only a stone-throw away....
