I was crying all the way through the end the first time I watched the movie.

one of my favorite movies.

You just can't help but find this scene so emotional.

To have the gall to order the launch and then take off on everybody as they wait for the missile to drop…. Who was the real monster???? FANTASTIC

If this got turned into a live action movie how about the villain? Mansley. Be played by Jim Carrey. Or played by. Ryan Reynolds

Props to the animators for making an accurate depiction of a nuke going off in space.

This does make me wonder what weapons can destroy it? Clearly nothing that earth has tho I could see them being magnets like they blue him up and then grab all the bits so it can not repair itself

Iron Giant... proof that a one and done movie can leave a lasting legacy without sequels ruining it.

I love how the soldiers, like General Rogard, don't break formation (except for a couple guys in a jeep when Dean says "it wouldn't matter") and are dead-set on holding Mansley to face the consequences of his stupidity. Resolute and composed even at the face of death, just like the lads in the HMS Birkenhead. What a sad thing that many such men were thrown into the meat grinder of two world wars.

Superman would of made The Iron Giant an official member of the Superman family because of what The Iron Giant did in order to save the people's lives from the missile that was heading towards them.

I'm a grown adult and this made me cry.. you choose what you want to be.. so when The Iron Giant goes up to meet the missile he says Superman

I wish the movie had ended after his sacrifice, I hate fake deaths in movies. Superman's death in Batman v Superman drags on forever, even though we all know he'll come back in the next film. Plus, there was never a sequel to The Iron Giant.

Iron Giant, making face tanking cool before it was even a thing

Mansley is just as stupid as Amanda Waller, both are driven to make stupid mistakes and decisions; all in the name of "saving the country from evil." Only difference here is Waller never gets punished for all of HER sins

The the iron giant could have just used his advanced weaponry and destroyed the missile in while it was in space

I never exactly cried in this scene…but I still ALWAYS hated it. I always just HATED that! I mean I know I saw him rebuilding himself at the end but still it hurt really bad when I was a kid.

"You stay, I go" Proceeds to screw off and leave them all to die because he's the only one who can get out of range in time.
