Awesome lesson! Awesome track! Subscriber well earned!
Excellent! Thank you so much for the informative lesson. I have been starting with the F minor scale in the first position. (I think)...
that's a stunning series, so helpful mate! There really aren't many metal theory guitar lessons. Thanks a million and please keep the videos coming!
Awesome tutorial. Would you consider making a tutorial on spicing up chord progressions or how to create better chords in drop tuning? For example using clean or distortion. Thanks!!
...sees many reverse headstocks... nods knowingly... subs
Wow this is super useful! finally tutorials that teach the basics instead of just assuming you already know "the basics"
Much thanks! So helpful to a practiced confuser!
Glad to hear!!
You've got another new subscriber here! Longtime player who's returning to the fold after a long hiatus. Looking forward to more lessons!
Thank you so much!!
Nice one. Something I finally understand
Awesome, glad it helped! 🤘🏻
So glad to hear!
KSE has many interesting chord voicing in their chorus, do more songs please 🎉🎉
They do! Some of the best!
Can I ask which camera are you using?
Sony A7iv
Loving these videos! keep making them!
@@luckyboy5nu thank you! More coming!
Hey bro, i jusrt found your channel and this was a great video. Ive just picked up guitar, is there any resources for learning guitar you recommend?
Thank you! Glad it helped! I’ll be putting out a lot more videos here on YT! I do offer one on one lessons online and I’ll be putting out a course soon!
Nice one, I would recommend to use a standard E tuned guitar, since this kind of content is aimed mostly at beginners I guess :)
Very useful! I hope to see more content like this ;)
Thanks! More to come!
Whats up with rec loop in the background?
Nice i didnt notice that
Can I apply all these skills in standard tuning? I play mostly 80's Hair Metal, Power Metal, Progressive Metal and Thrash Metal style guitar.
@@metal1mark73 absolutely! You can just move that same shape up to the 6th string (low E string) and it’s still the minor scale. If you keep it on the 5th fret of the E string it’s A minor. And you can move that shape around to change the key 🤘🏻
Great advice, really simplified and to the point. Amazing!!!

TLDR; theory doesn’t “box you in” you just haven’t practice it until you don’t really need to think about it. Just a little info as far as how it’s worked out for me: practice all the positions of the minor scale and learn to play all of the positions as one giant position. Once you get so familiar with it and the triads within it eventually you won’t think much about it. From there you will intintionally break the rules playing wrong notes and chords where it sounds great. This is the point where you become proficient and theory is headed properly as a way to analyze and break something down you already wrote. For example: I will commonly start in a minor scale and move between Hungarian minor and harmonic minor in my accents. I will also borrow chords from different key signatures like Bmin instead of Bdim. I’m not thinking about what key I’m borrowing from I’m just playing something that sounds good and then I can understand it after with the theory. The reason people feel boxed in by theory is because they don’t practice it until it’s more subconscious.
@@SilentAsianRoach really like this! 🤘🏻
Great video! Very understandable and concise. Nice Background as well. You got a new subscriber. Looking forward to your next vids!

love the videos man, could you do one explaining how to use the minor scale in an "economy of motion" practice riff? I love your explanations, and watched some good vids describing and showing was to practice economy of motion but im really interested in how youd show it off. Either way, great stuff man! def gonna have me checking back for more theory and practice ideas!

Hey really great videos! I don't have my guitars anymore but am hoping to get some gear again soon....it's been almost 5 years since I lost all my gear...
Thanks man! Hopefully you can get back into it soon!
How can I not remember! B4MV was one of the bands at my very first concert in my late 20s almost 20 years ago
That's what's up!
Yeah boy
LETS GO!
🤘🔥
Good stuff! I've been learning the minor scale and its different modes. I hae the first 5 down sofar. But I'm not really sure how to use them together well. A lot of riffs and solos dont stay in 1 modes location, it will be several put together. so im not sure when to switch strings or positions when I can hit the same not in different places. Could be a good future video idea? Also, I want to get into using the different modes as the base, like Phrygian and Lydian. Nik Nocturnal had a cool video on the different mode sounds, and the Lydian one sounds so amazing. But I cant figture out how to actually get that sound.
I'll definitely have more videos on those concepts coming! And Nik's video is great! I'll definitely be doing a video on the Lydian mode, it's one of my favorites! 🤘
Love the octave concept. Was one of the first things I started to do when writing my own riffs. Forgot about the 4, 5 and 7 on the A string Could have also mentioned going horizontal with the scale diatonically
Pretty new here man glad i found this Channel the way you explain stuff makes easy as too follow keep up the good work

I'm 2 years into guitar and this video helps to understand just a little bit more about the composing relationship with scales and keys....I have the same guitar and that thing RIPS...love the reaper 6 fr.
@@Gutszomb11 awesome! Glad it helped! And yes, absolutely love my Reaper!
I honestly wish videos like this existed when I first started taking theory more seriously. You’re really concise and easy to understand most TH-cam content talks about the basics too quick as if the person trying to learn already understands.
Really appreciate that 🙏 that was always frustrating to me too early on. I needed to understand things on a simpler level and not everything was always obvious, even the basics. Thanks for the comment!
Great video! I love this riff.
Thank you! Yes, one of the best riffs 🤘🏻🤘🏻
First thing i learned on guitar when I started writing, but it was completely on accident. I didn't know what a scale was
Yeah, you're absolutely correct. Take notes everyone
Dude, this is the best channel ive found in a while. In a sea of popular TH-camrs, this really stuck out for my interest in Metal guitar
Thank you so much! That really means a lot!
what pickups are those?
They're just the stock pickups - the Diamond Decimators
This is great content! I've been playing guitar for couple of years and i feel like i want to learn writing some own riffs. This kind of stuff is perfect for me.
So glad to hear!!
I love this, no frills straight to business and quality content!! Please keep this up man!! Subbed!!

Outstanding video. Provided a ton of value with great explanations, and kept the video concise when moving from point to point-especially love the scale over the song/backing track tip! Now, if I had to provide feedback, I feel like the bg music could be lowered a few db’s during the talking head sections. Apart from that, amazing! I see that this was the first video uploaded in quite some time. Keep up with this format in terms of video length and script, and your channel is bound to blow up. Hope to see more content similar to this one, subbed!
Thank you so much for the kind words!! And I really appreciate the feedback! Will definitely make the proper adjustments! 🙏🤘
