I just wanna say that even though I don't agree with GSTE most of the time, GSTE's video was not bad faith at all. Bad faith means someone made a video just saying false information about the game\movie\book and telling people that their false information that they said about the film is a fact and cannot be argued with. That is not what GSTE did at all, he looked at the movie's problems very fairly and didn't make stuff up. Now I cant talk on behalf of his criticisms because I've actually never seen Heisei Gamera, nor do I have interest to watch them. But I think that calling the video "Bad Faith" is ironically bad faith in itself. I'm not hating on you, I'm saying why calling the video bad faith is kind of harsh.
You do make a good point there. Ryan and I weren’t sure of GSTE’s intentions at the time. He’s left comments here that clarified a bit. You should watch this trilogy, by the way. 😊

Cool. Congrats to all the writers.
"This week, another TH-camr published a bad faith video full of kaiju hot takes." Who was the other guy that made a bad faith kaiju hot take video?
You have to realize only if someone disagrees with them is their points made in bad faith. I could have said the Heisei Godzilla films were uninspired light shows, and that the humans become useless after 40 minutes into the films, or use selective quotes to match my opinion. Which is exactly what someone else did, but because it's against films they don't like they don't care, despite the statements being so objectively false it's so easy to prove wrong. The best they can do to prove my points are false is saying their interpretation of what happened when I literally show what is actually said in the films.
@@GSTE_i was talking about someone else not you.
@@Godzilla-jr5gi I know who you were talking about, and I was pointing out some statements actually made by the Heisei Godzilla critics.
@@GSTE_ oh ok
@@Godzilla-jr5gi but at the same time I think it's good to have differing opinion about films. It's just that if criticism is going to be for one series of films it has to be for all the films in the franchise. But that's just my thoughts on it.
Ok but why couldn't gamera just blow-up iris's spear instead of his pinned arm?
It's not too unrealistic to think the spear is of a substantially stronger material than Gamera's flesh given that we are not capable of rigidly impaling each other's arms with our arms but wooden or metal spears are capable of that. A basic fireball probably wouldn't break the spear, while a full on chest opening mana blast would be too destructive and just make more Gyaos, so Gamera breaking of his own less durable arm in order to serve as a conduit for some Mana energy but not an absurd amount (or a greater amount of the fireball material, either) would be the most efficient option
@@josephgibson5902 Again this is assuming that Iris's arm was indestructible. This same logic is made by Midori who thinks it is useless to run because of the explosion. When trying would be better than doing nothing in this case. Again this comes back to assumptions made about these films in order to have them make sense. So the problem is that it doesn't make sense for Gamera to cut off his arm instead of Iris's arm. Your rebuttal is a huge assumption that it would have no effect on Iris's knife blade. When in reality these monsters have been vulnerable to regular missiles. If anything the surrounding evidence shows the opposite. Gamera's fire would have went clean through Iris's arm. And if he wanted to be even more effective he could have blasted off Iris's head. It's not like he had 2 whole minutes to think this over. If these people used even close to as many assumptions about the Heisei Gamera films for the Heisei Godzilla films there would be no problems with any of the films story. And if these people had the same standards they had for the Showa Godzilla film as the heisei godzilla films they would have no problems with the quality of the Heisei Godzilla films.
@@GSTE_ in my original reply to you, I already talked about how I would put this much effort into explaining Heisei Godzilla stuff, so that's immaterial. I love Heisei Godzilla and will argue he has a character arc pertaining to his loneliness as a primary character motivation as you can see in Godzilla 1984 (following bird calls out of wanting to fit in), Biollante (where he sees something like him but it tries to kill him) and then most obviously through Mechagodzilla II into Destoroyah with Jr where Godzilla only attacks to find Junior or after he thinks he's lost him. Also, no there is no indication that Gamera would capable of using his normal flame breath on Iris' spear successfully. He already tried the shell cutter during the aerial skirmish, with his jets visibly doing nothing against Iris' stronger sections. You also didn't address my analogy, instead straw manning me that I was saying Iris was indestructible. All o was arguing was that it was a stronger material because of my analogy that things of greater material strength than our arms can penetrate other arms. I mentioned wooden spears which are not indestructible at all just harder, able to withstand more. Need not be indestructible. I would use Guiron's blade or Viras' head as other examples where Gamera's breath (albeit Showa those times) is insufficient
@@josephgibson5902 Well I don't really agree with your conclusion about Heisei Godzilla either. As it was stated in Godzilla 1984 that Godzilla was only drawn to the bird's call due to a magnetic part of his brain. And with Biollante, Godzilla has no motivation other than to destroy any monster that shows up, which is what he showed in 1991 and 1992 as well. Comparing Showa Gamera's fire to Heisei Gamera is like comparing a torch to a fiery explosion. Heisei Gamera's fire breath has been shown to be able to explode solid looking things such as buildings and Legion's hive. Also like I said, your point about there being nothing to say iris's arm could be destroyed by Gamera has no founding in the films. There is far more evidence that shows Gamera's fire would be effective, such as both Iris's arm and Legion's small arm were able to stab Gamera. Yet normal missiles were able to cut off Legion's same arms that stabbed Gamera. The logic used to make Gamera's action make sense is a huge assumption not supported by what is shown in the films.
My take is that since her spear tentacles deflected his plasma shots in their previous engagements, and it was a quick second battle decision while Gamera was trying to save Ayana. He went for what he knew would work than what might have worked.
Hi, well I kind of want to explain my points more, starting off with that I made the vid not to say the films are bad, which I make sure to say at the beginning and end. So starting off is that when for me at least, everyone was telling me the films were amazing and the best kaiju films, which gave me high hopes for the film. That is what I meant by that statement. Next is that I was not punching up towards anyone, I was just showing some of the vids titles that helped raise my hopes since I did not watch them before seeing the Gamera films. Godzilla save the earth is a reference to the 2004 game, It's not my name for the literal meaning of the sentence. Also this point was true, if you watch the film when they show the bird scientist she is in the office meeting, the next time they show her she is on a bridge saving a kid without any explanation. My next point was about how the film cuts off important parts of the story. The difference between this and Godzilla 2014 is that the result of said scene was never explained or brought up. Also the freeze frames of the military saving the people was a last minute part I added into the scene, which is why there was no dialogue about it. Also Midori not wanting to leave was the point. Of course she can be wrong, but the fact she doesn't want to try and escape was the point I was making. Also when I first heard about the Heisei Gamera films I knew nothing previously about them. A close friend told me they were really good so I quickly got the dvds for the films. I didn't go into the films with any negative thoughts. I think they ask better questions in Attack of Legion about the monsters, mostly Guardian of the universe is where they don't act very surprised or ask questions about key things like Gyaos's laser or gamera's flying ability. They instead ask questions about Gyaos's reproduction or Gamera being a good guy. Also the bird scientist thinking Gyaos is nocturnal is confirmed later when she says the birds are sensitive to lights. Another point about Ayana and Iris is that the human characters don't even bring up Iris destroying her family when they are trying to convince her to stop. I would not tell someone who did a part in a film that I thought their performance wasn't good, she was doing what the film's story required. And I will say Asagi is much better in the rest of the films than in the later part of the first film. The reason I didn't mention this was the same reason I didn't mention Tsutomu Osako despite him being a great character, that's because this was about the "flaws" and my problems with the films. Although looking back I probably should have put a small line about her character being much better in the later films. I do not think because a character is monotone that means the acting isn't good. On the other hand I think the acting in the Heisei Gamera films for the most part is very good. It's just the direction of the story I mainly have a problem with. Ayana has a direct connection to Iris, as shown when her mind is read through the crystal showing Iris destroy innocent people. It is never explained how Asagi knows any of that stuff about mana or it being able to create Gyaos. There is no explanation or anything to have that make sense. Also the bird scientist literally says in a scene before Asagi talks about mana, that the more she researches Gyaos the less she knows. Also I'm going by what the characters say. They say Gamera absorbing mana brought legion to japan and created all the gyaos. Not my words, that's literally what I show the characters say. Iris's back was to Gamera when Iris became one with Ayana. That was my point. There would be no way for Gamera to see Ayana combining with Iris in that scene. Also the point about Gamera not caring makes it even more illogical when he tries to save the girl despite facing a much greater threat than the Gyaos which is stated in the film. If anything Gamera would go to greater lengths to destroy Iris without caring about the casualties. The point about Gamera walking through the city despite being able to fly was to point out Gamera knowing where certain people are and care about certain people, but continuing to walk right through a city full of people. My vid was not a bad faith vid, as that means I was trying to deceive or ignore facts, when I was just pointing out the flaws I see in these films as well as my own problems with the series. Well I don't know what to say about the point about my script not being well written, but I tried my best so yeah. Gamera's fire only being used at the end of the fights and instantly destroying the monsters does not add tension to the film. Now if Gamera had used his fire but it did nothing to the monsters then that would add much more tension, knowing Gamera's strongest weapon was not enough to stop these monsters. The difference between Godzilla's atomic breath is that Godzilla consistently hits monsters with it from long range. And when it is shown to have no effect on them, that is when he gets close and tries to beat them physically. Gamera's fire breath is only used at a distance giving the monsters the chance to block or dodge it, when if he used it up close it would not have this problem. Also Gamera's shell is stated by a scan from a radar system to be 60 Meters long. This is not including his legs or head, which make him much taller. They humans also say Gamera is taller than 60 meters, which this as well as the previous point confirms his 80 meter tall height. The films having Gamera be half his official and in film size does take me out of the film. Godzilla 1984's scaling might not be perfect, but Gamera guardian of the universe is definitely is much worse. The point with Gyaos's head, is that his head is shown to be about the same size as Gamera's head. And Gyaos's head is a good portion of it's height. Like I said in my explanation, the edits in the Heisei Godzilla films make Godzilla look a lot larger than Heisei Gamera. That is not a double standard. My point was not to say Showa Gamera's films were better than the Heisei Gamera films, because they are not. My point was for the scaling, which I already brought up that the Heisei Godzilla films had much better scaling which is why I didn't bring it up for this point. Showa Gamera being affected by monsters makes them seem incredibly powerful considering how strong Gamera is. But having both Gamera and the monster be greatly affected by missiles makes them seem less of a threat. My point in bringing up Kiryu and Final wars is that Godzilla used his atomic breath to cut off something that was stabbing him. Gamera could have easily done the same. Which would have solved the problem of pressure on his hand. Also Godzilla was not only impaled by Biollante in his hand, he was also impaled through his shoulder which would be much greater reason than Gamera did for not being able to rip out the vine. Gamera's flying makes no sense in the heisei films. They show smoke coming out of his elbows and knees and then what, do his arms and legs fall off. They never show what happens, and yes this was a creative choice, but I do not think it was a good one for a monster that's supposed to be a giant turtle. My problem with it has nothing to do with how it was done behind the scenes, but everything to do with what is shown onscreen. Gamera going into his shell is a main staple of the original films and is what made him unique, which is also why I brought up the budget of the films earlier, since the original films no matter the budget were able to perform this turtle like ability. I am not saying I could do better, but I am saying other films with far less budget were able to perform this. While these things may not affect your enjoyment of the films, they do for me which is why I stated my exact problems with the films. Also my last statement doesn't contradict any of my points. I do think the quality of the models and use of animation throughout the heisei gamera films are done better than the Godzilla films. But this was explaining the flaws and my personal problems with the films. I didn't say the films are unwatchable, I said personally for me the films are unwatchable. There is a big difference. "Saying that the films aren't good and you can like them anyways" is not the same thing as saying "these are certain flaws I see in these films and problems I have with certain things they did. And I encourage you to watch the films for yourself to come to your own conclusion about them" Even though I don't like the Heisei Gamera films for the reasons I stated, I think they did do certain things better. Like the quality of models, certain suits and visual effects. As well as the films having a more grounded feel to them compared to Godzilla films. But this was to explain my points about the series, and I am not saying that people shouldn't watch them or that they are not good. I've always said that people should watch something for themselves to come to their own conclusion on it. Also yes I am a fan of the Heisei Godzilla films, but I don't think that makes me not able to talk about other things. I personally have watched some of Omni Viewers stuff about Godzilla for many years now, and I didn't make this topic on Gamera to tell people it's bad or not to watch it. But I just want to bring up problems I haven't seen anyone else bring up. People can think differently about films, about what is good or not good, that's why certain people can say a film is bad but another person can like that film for those exact reasons.
Thanks for your detailed response! It shows me that you watched all three hours(!) of our livestream. I also appreciate you not taking potshots at either myself or Ryan. That shows a lot of class, which is more than I can say for a lot of content creators when their opinions are challenged.
@@NathanMarchandAuthor Yes I did watch all of it. And I have had a lot of conversations about this topic since watching the Heisei Gamera films three years ago. And while I personally didn't like some things said about my work, I know people like different things and think differently. But I do put a lot of work into each vid, especially in the one on Heisei Gamera. It probably took about 90 hours or more to make it. From drawing and coloring the thumbnail of Heisei Gamera, to writing the script while going to the films or official information for most points, as well as taking about a week or more editing the footage and thinking about what footage would go good in certain spots. And then I have to think about the sound design and pacing, but even after all that I still respect disagreements with my work. But I don't really appreciate being called biased or certain "hotshots" as you call it.
@@GSTE_Everyone has biases, though. The trick is not letting them clod your judgment too much.
As a viewer of this and similar streams (EFAP is the big "pause and response" criticism of criticism of media stream, but I prefer ECUM, just ignore the names), your polite conduct puts you ahead of most creators that have their work broken down in this format. The clarifications are nice but unfortunately do not and cannot supplant the statements in the original video. Redrafting is as necessary for TH-cam video essays as it is for film scripts to smooth out issues. Based on the presentation of your video, you punching up was a valid interpretation. Now, you have clarified, but the additional work required to circumvent that reading before putting the video out would have been preferable. The thing about some of your clarifications here is that they enhance your arguments from your video but do not respond to or counteract this stream. Bird scientist being in a board meeting and then saving a child on a bridge is fine because as the panelists say, scene changes exist. Meetings end, this character is investigating Gyaos and otherwise characterized to be a caring individual, so being in the same place as Gyaos and saving a child are natural outgrowths of her characterization. I am, like you a fan of the Heisei Godzilla series, and I would do this level of thinking it through for those as well. I think the main issue is that there's not a sharp delineation for when you are talking about quality vs preference. Video essay strategies that I've seen to compensate for that either are to make the video incredibly long and thorough or to correspond the amount of time talked about the issue to its importance. That is where the panelists are indeed right again about your pacing and also why you cannot add in last minute arguments, such as you mention you do with the freeze frame, because that's incredibly confusing (words on the screen are best used the same way as a parenthetical, such as this, simply to clarify already fleshed out points). Pivoting away from the G14 thing, I think scene changes are more of an issue when nothing happens between them. In KOTM, when the Mothra vs Rodan fight is finishing, Godzilla and Ghidorah just stand stationary in their same places, breaking up the flow and serving as a contrivance for why neither of them kill each other or change the outcome of that fight. Also, continuity issues are a flexible thing unless they directly make a facet of the plot impossible. As for not asking about Gyaos' beam but instead reproduction, say you're playing a video game where mobs with guns are spawning somewhere around you. Are you going to ask questions about how they are shooting at you first or wonder where the spawner is so you can address the larger problem that multiple things are shooting at you. The Gyaos could overrun the Earth as we very nearly see happen eventually. As for not asking about Gamera's flight, we should remember that Word of God is that turtles do not exist in this universe, so it's not "why is this turtle flying" so much as "flight seems to be an emergent property of this monster". Its allegiances is the question, sort of like if you're playing a game like Minecraft and see the Iron Golem attack a zombie that's attacking the village you're defending. It makes your job substantially easier if you have an ally, but a monster that is bigger and stronger than the others is a big risk, so that needs to be sorted out first. These are of course the family friendly analogies. If you can prove that the bird scientists thinks Gyaos are nocturnal, that doesn't account for this stream's counterarguments to your overall ideas of "characters can be wrong in unprecedented scenarios" and "but Gyaos does get eye shields to allow for being out" I don't necessarily have counterarguments for everything you're saying here, as I've been on a Gamera vs Guiron and Gamera the Brave kick moreso than a trilogy kick recently. But you have to take into account what the panelists here are saying about Asagi, Ayana and Gamera being dynamic characters that have arcs and therefore cannot have all of their scenes judged under the same contexts (Gamera not caring about collateral damage is some scenes is explained by the magatama breaking and him caring again in others is explained by him relearning that connection to humanity). Also, Asagi knowing about the mana and its capacity to create Gyaos isn't something that has to be explained if you remember the connection to Gamera, who would have figured out most of that on his own since he's been around as long as it is. I also don't think you get to complain about Ayana not knowing everything about Iris from their connection and then also complain about Asagi knowing everything about Gamera from their connection as you do in this comment. Again, don't suppose Gamera to have the same motivations and priorities at the beginning and end of the film and then complain when that reading doesn't work. You have indeed clarified that your video was not in bad faith, but again, from the presentation of ideas being rushed, wrong in places and showing a Godzilla bias (down to, as the panelists show, the same basic shot of Gamera and Burning Godzilla being valued differently) it was a possible reading of the video that it was in bad faith. And again, you gotta differentiate between objective and subjective takes. I don't think that was clear enough in your video, and a way to make that clear is to have the reasoned idea with evidence sections be for objective and have little "personally, I think" asides for the subjective. One thing to remember about Gamera's combat is that Daiei meddled with GOTU (not wanting the arm spikes to be a prominent part of it), Legion no selled Gamera's strongest attacks, and the sparse Gamera vs Iris fighting we get consists of Gamera trying literally everything he can. I think the GOTU final fight finishing out like a Western gunsling tells you all you need to know about how volatile and unreliable it is (bullets rarely hit in fiction and hit even less often in real life) compared to the greater dexterity of Gamera than Godzilla. Tldr, Gamera fighting different than Godzilla is not inherently an issue given different strengths and weakness, including far greater durability to withstand beam deflection for Godzilla. Heisei Godzilla looking bigger is more a result of the scale of the props than the editing and shot composition. Consequently, the miniatures are less detailed, requiring less closeups and more static flat shots. Unless you have some great knowledge of shot composition, cinematography or directing strategies, I wouldn't die on this hill of yours. Your view of Showa Gamera's fights seems a little bit too simplified. Take Jiger for instance. Jiger never comes off as particularly strong, just with great weaponry that bails her out of situations that Gamera adapts to. Once he knows how to avoid the snot barbs and the tail, he just wins. Same thing with Barugon. Gyaos and Guiron are the really strong ones, based on having strengths that Gamera cannot cancel out and requiring him to dig deep, but you also have Viras, who he ragdolls but lands lucky hits. Gamera's adaptability is the point. Him needing to shows their threat but not their power. Gamera is also adaptable in Heisei, to an even greater extent given his body literally changing to accommodate different strategies. As for Gamera's flying not making sense in the Heisei films, again he's not supposed to be a turtle because turtles don't exist in that universe. Whether or not that's evident in the films, it was said after the fact, which puts it on equal footing to your comment here. Unwatchable is a really loaded term, and unless you're going to make it extra clear (which I really don't think you did) when you're talking objective vs subjective, you simply should have not used that language in a video mixing both or else it will seem like you are making conclusions on quality. You finish this comment saying how you are not telling people not to watch the movie or that it is bad, but do you understand that this is poisoning the film when you admit here you are omitting talking about a lot of the good things in order to explain the flaws on something you think has already gotten biased coverage? This is also where clarifying what are opinions and what things you think are facts would have come in handy. Otherwise, you are technically being just as deceptive as the videos that made the trilogy seem perfect but poisoning the well in the opposite direction. You are right that people can think differently about films, and that comes down to subjective opinions, but you are also making statements about quality and even if not all of them were answered satisfactorily by this stream, some were and a difference of opinion only goes so far in matters of objectivity. You and I have similar passions, and you are on my radar now, so I will watch with interest
@@josephgibson5902 It would be easier to read what you say if you have multiple paragraphs. Scene changes are perfectly fine, they are done in any film. But the way they do it in the heisei gamera films would be like if they showed miki saegusa in the gforce building, and then the next time they show her she is looking at Godzilla jr on the beach. The film builds up to her being on the beach by have her fly in on helicopter. The heisei gamera films lack these scenes that help the film feel connected. Films like GMK and shin godzilla do not have these problems. There is a fine line between objective and subjective. Most of what is said by me and these people are subjective. But certain statements having to do with scaling and things stated in the films are not. Also the questions were done perfectly in Shin Godzilla. Shin godzilla is a threat that could evolve and destroy the world, more so than Gyaos could. Yet the humans ask questions about his nuclear fission, weaknesses, evolution, and atomic breath. And they use this information to stop him. As for turtles not existing, that is objectively wrong. The film itself refers to Gamera as a turtle when the characters figure out his name. There is also a model of a tortoise on one of the character's desk in Revenge of Iris. It's perfectly fine for characters to be wrong, but my problem is the film does not acknowledge this. The only hint they give at her being wrong is her statement that "the more I learn about the gyaos the less I know". Which is said in Revenge of iris not the film where the explanation was needed. Again it is an assumption that Gyaos has eye covers in order for it to make sense in their minds as the films never state this. Gamera has not cared about collateral damage since Guardian of the universe. He picks and chooses when to save individual people. The connection of the necklace and the monster is shown in the film to have the person be able to see or feel a monster. This is shown in Guardian of the Universe and certain scenes in Revenge of Iris. There is nothing the necklace can do to explain how a energy in the earth can create monsters or lead monsters to earth. Saying it makes sense because she was connected to Gamera is not a good argument. Just because I like Godzilla and I compare certain things to the Godzilla films of the time does not mean I have a Godzilla bias, since I like Gamera as a character as much or more than Godzilla. Also if you can't see the huge size difference between the shots I showed compared Burning Godzilla and Heisei Gamera I don't know what to tell you. The heisei Godzilla films did not just use flat shots, that is objectively wrong. And the variety of angles used is much more than previous films like the showa era. The Heisei Godzilla films use angles from the monster's perspective, they use wide shots showing the action for certain scenes, they use low angles when trying to make the monsters look larger, they use low angles behind a monster, and they use angles showing the monster's face. These are not a bad variety of angles, and aren't just flat or wide shots. But Heisei Godzilla looking larger is not just due to the models, since his overall design looks large due to his head being smaller and having the proportions of a large creature similar to shin godzilla or legendary godzilla. Gamera is not adaptable in actual combat. His fights consisting of grabbing onto a monster until he gets stabbed or knocked down isn't a sign of logic or understanding of combat. Showa Gamera on the other hand understands certain attacks and makes sure to counter them in creative ways using his flying, fire, or reflexes. Heisei Gamera on the other hand barely does anything until he pulls out a random power at the end and defeats the monster instantly. My point was that the story being confusing and requiring assumptions to even make sense makes these films unwatchable for me. That is just how it is for me due to problems I see in these films. The difference is that my vid wasn't saying the films are bad. Just to point out flaws and problems I don't see other people talking about. At this point people have already talked about all the good in those films so me repeating the same thing would be pointless. Also like I said that wasn't the point of the vid. Now if I titled it "the heisei gamera films are bad" you could say these things apply, but it's not and they don't. Also unlike those vids I am talking about I do not use selective information, such as quotes that match my opinion while not mentioning much more quotes that say the opposite. A problem I have with the heisei gamera fans is that they think they are objectively right and anyone who disagrees with them is wrong and biased. I should not have to mention in an opinion vid that when I say something doesn't look good that it's my opinion. Unlike people who talk about the heisei godzilla films and hold no punches, saying things like the films were uninspired and they only have beam battles and wide shots. I said what actually happened in these films, whether people agree with my conclusion on those things is up to them. Point out where I said anything about the Heisei Gamera films not being inspired, and that they are lackluster films, or maybe that they lack a sense of stability which is why they aren't as iconic as the heisei godzilla films. If you can't that's because I have never said such things, and these same people nitpicking over my small statements are perfectly fine with objectively false statements made about the heisei godzilla films just because they don't like those films. I think that's more "bad faith" that bringing up points based in a film and coming to a conclusion on it. Did I go as far to insult the special effects director or their work, did I insult the actors. No I did not, unlike people who criticize the heisei godzilla films I did not go as far as to say these characters are horrible, they make no sense, and they are poorly written. I brought up specific things I had problems with, from the characters to the story and monsters. That's about all I have to say.
They are good-looking books.
So cool!

Holy Cow! Session 2 was over 3 hours?
I was going to take a break between a second and third session, but I ended up not doing so.
Sad I missed it 😔
If it's "Certified Fresh" I would rather have the canned tomato.
ST TMP is an "adult sci-fi" film. Yes, it's a bit slow but it rewards in the look and feel of being in space and the philosophical questions it addresses. 👍
Seeing this on a theater screen was an incredible experience. One of those films that truly is enhanced by the big screen.

Why didn’t you nerds correct me when I said Archaeologist instead of Paleontologist?? You all get an F and your nerd cards revoked!
Haha I love that subtitle!
But I forgot to mention it on the air! 😔

Make Star Trek cerebral again
Watched one painful episode, that's all I need, and yes past ST series have started slow but this was simply awful. In 50yrs of watching ST I can honestly say for the first time, " that really sucked."
Why can't ivan direct it?
the best part of Sinister Squad was Alice's legs, lol.
Still pissed that I could never find the fucking Ecto-Cooler!!!
I have to say this regarding the gender issues: what this film got wrong (A LOT) movies like Wonder Woman and Force Awakens got 100% RIGHT. They rocked the girl power thang, put the guys in the back seat, gave the ladies villains that were imposing and fully fleshed out all the characters. Paul Feig and Sony owe an apology: to the fan base, to the critics and TO THESE WOMEN. Spy with Melissa McCarthy was GREAT! Sam Raimi could have done it good too. He blends horror and comedy nicely. Or, if they're going to go lady, Patty Jenkins. Wonder Woman had a great balance of comedy and kick ass.
I was thinking the same thing when I saw Wonder Woman. It did everything right that this got wrong. It didn't make the male characters stupid, evil, or jerky in order to make Wondie look better. They were all capable and complete characters. She was just more powerful than them, so she went to the frontline.
I've seen three of Feig's films now. Spy was his highlight. I think his problem, as a director is he doesn't know when to end a joke. A lot of his jokes get to the punchline too early (what I call premature ejokeulation) and just beat it into the ground. Ghostbusters was clearly the wrong film for him. Could you imagine Raimi or Edgar Wright or even Patty Jenkins doing this film? That could work. WW and Rey were way more sure of themselves than any of the women in this film, and they had as tough if not tougher shoes to fill.
You people are really really really bunch of beast of fucking burden over this good remake of Ghostbusters. How its really the most sexiest movie of the year ? its not that bad for Christ sakes
Laquentin Potts You really need to shut the fuck up! But you are right the movie isn't bad. The movie is a pile of shit!
Why did they even need to do the final battle the way they did? All the girls had to do was stand abreast of each other with ghost chippers and mow through the onslaught of ghosts. Why was the firehouse or anything a money issue if Holtzman was so amazing she could make something that actually pulled matter toward it like that trashcan in the second weapons testing scene? That would have gotten them Nobel levels of scientific recognition. How or why was the PKE meter left at Rowan's lair other than visual exposition to let the audience know that something was still going on with the villain yet his copy of the book was taken as a souvenir by Erin? What was the point of showing Erin dodge that spray of slime toward the end only to continue the gag that the slime was "out to get [her]"? Wouldn't it have made more sense to have her miss it last so she could officially overcome it as a character arc? What purpose did Holtzman serve in the film other than being the official builder of the gear? She never does or says anything important other than explain what each gadget is and could just as easily (if not more) be scrubbed from the film a la Jar Jar in The Phantom Edit. The things she does aren't anything one of the others couldn't have done in her place. The original team was almost constantly doing or saying something related to the business and rarely were they doing or saying things in downtime without the other not at least pertaining to it in some way. When they're smoking next to the containment unit, they talk about the crowding issue and the rising PKE surge. When Venkman is flirting with Dana, he's either doing a sweep on her apartment or reporting about the findings on "Zuul". These ladies bullshit and goof off a great deal throughout the film and have no real goal to strive for. The guys were just starting a business and Gozer happened. The girls were at best wanting to trap and then hold a ghost to study it and barely did any actual work toward that goal other than trap the dragon ghost which they then lost.
Dude, you need to make your own show or blog with that review!
Nathan Marchand Thank you. I take inspiration from Cinematic Excrement and Bad Movie Beatdown amongst others.
Just like our dating lives!
Hagar was in Saturday Night Slam Masters. It's basically WWE meets Street Fighter.
Bill has that game. We play it from time to time. I like running Hagar in it (though I can't get his spinning piledriver to work for the life of me). Maybe we'll talk about it sometime.
Rise of the Robots: They killed Nathan with a forklift!
You have audio problems.
What sort of problems?
Nathan Marchand At times I had trouble hearing you.
Darn right!
i love this review love it!
Here's an idea: Ghostbusters directed by Edgar Wright, starring Christ Pratt, with a cameo by Nick Frost as Slimer and Simon Pegg as "a stiff" hotel manager.
I like it!
As another reboot or a sequel to the originals? Eh, either way it sounds more entertaining than the 2016 one was
Honestly, I watched the original on TV (missed the theatres because I was too young in the 80s), and it felt special. When I sat in the theatre for the "new" one, I felt sad for the new generation :/
You guys, I agree with you SO MUCH. The right director was Edgar Wright! He would have been PER-FECT! I also thought of Joss Whedon because he handled Avengers like a boss! :)
Joss wouldn't be a bad choice, but I think Wright is better.
Why do these episodes get longer with each upload? 31 minutes I'm sorry I'm not sitting through this you're better off doing a podcast
You'd be "sitting through" a podcast, too. What difference does it make? You have a short attention span, anyway. And you're a troll. :P
I am not a troll you stay in your video that you want comments etc. etc. I'm just being honest I'm not trying to be negative or troll I'm saying this video was too long even game or video people don't do 30 minute videos
The difference with the podcast is it's engaging and you can do other things 30 minute should belong to an episode or a TV show not a TH-cam video
I've seen plenty of TH-cam videos from well-known producers who go 30 minutes or more. Your argument is invalid.
Also, episode 37 is almost twice this long and has over 1,000 views. Your argument is invalid.
Im beginning to think that Sinister Squad was better than Suicide Squad o,0
You might only be saying that because we spent more time talking about what we didn't like in Suicide Squad. Sinister Squad was worse, but that's to be expected because it's an Asylum movie. We had lower expectations.
Also this entire video is full of negativity you are adding fuel to the fire for DC fans
JeremySheer You're calling the kettle "black" there, pot.
nobody cares as much as you jeremy and for that thank you :)
i love this guy cant wait to see him and his friends make some videos. :)
