Awesome playing! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
DeBoo BEAR!!!!!! Your Bass is like Fred Wesleys Trombone... it just makes me HAPPY. I appreciate your positive energy.
Too kind my friend! Thank you 🙏
Lovely! Thanks for sharing your study of the masters.👍🏽😎
Absolutely! Thank you 🙏
great man
curious what the tie around the neck joint is for. formality?
Hi - it's the tie for my 'bass bib' which protects the should that rests against me from button and belt rash...
Splendid work mr. Deboo
Thank you kindly
Nice lesson!
Thanks! 😃
DeBoo Bear !!! So happy to see you updating your youtube page!!! You're always pure sunshine to listen to.
Thank you so much! This is kind of a side thing, as I'm doing so much over at OpenStudioJazz.com these days. Always appreciate your support bass bud!
@@bobdeboo8549 Yeah, I know.. I've been watching open studio for sometime now. I'm just happy to see you updating your vids. Oh and by the way, are you and Adam going to do some shows in the west coast this year??
Very, very cool lesson. Even recorded on a device, the sound of your bass is MONEY! Whenever(if) you get to play with Marty Morrison again, tell him "Buck Nasty" sends his regards(we played LOT together in the early 2000's in D.C.)😁😎
Thanks so much! Really appreciate the comment on the bass sound. I see Captain Friendly fairly regularly and will pass along the love, Buck ; )
BUCK NASTY! Aweee shieeeeeet! Best Name EVER!
@@percyvolnar8010 It was stolen from an animated TV series and pasted on to me my Marty ...Let's see if anyone knows what show that character is from...😉😁
@@bobdeboo8549 "Captain Friendly" 👍🏽😉 I will address him thusly and salute him! Great spirit. Love the flowing, liquid quality of his playing...
@@markfoster_mkfbass I was thinking more along the lines of Charlie Murphy's character from Chappelles show... But you said 'Animated"..... That threw me off. :)
This is wild! Thank you for this excellent tutorial. Good lord!
You're very welcome!
Beautiful sound, awesomely played! 🔥🔥🔥
Thanks a lot!
I always dig Ray Brown and your playing but I'm also digging the slick new look! Great stuff as usual Bob. Thank you!
Your hero
@@davedeboo Ray Brown and Bob DeBoo. Both my heroes. 👍
The "Happy Grease" smile when ya play those beautifully stankerific Ray Brown lines😉 Sounding fantastic, man!
Thank you kindly!
Heyyy Bobbo! Welcome back. Whereya been, man?!
Busta! I've been very busy over at OpenStudioJazz.com making courses, videos, live guided practice sessions, and helping to build the Open Studio Pro community. Once I get more into my flow I'll be posting here in YT more often. Peace!
@bobdeboo8549 Good to hear. You've helped me take my double bass playing up a notch or two with your very well-done tutorials. Looking forward to your return to live action, bro! 👍🏿
Great, as usual! Looking forward to some lessons to incorporate into my blues/rockabilly style.
Man... this is next on my hit list. Such a wonderful, swinging, melodic line. And the feel!! It confirms my choice to play double bass. Thank you for posting these man. So much to learn here.
Right on Eric! Veal is one of my bass heroes and I've always dug this particular recording. Glad you're digging the videos! The notated transcriptions and sessions where we practice them are all over at OpenStudioJazz.com by the way.
Enjoyed that!
Nice one!
Great man!
Titan!
Great choice!!! One of the biggest sounds I've ever heard.!!!
Yes indeed! What a deep sound and feel!!!
This was so good! Adam Maness with a killing solo on the Wurlitzer! 🔥 Love this tune!
WOOHOO! Some new content from Deboo-Bear!!!! Love ya, Man!!
OMG! I just realized the name of this tune is 'Bearings' !!!! LOVE IT, Deboo-bear!
Oh yeah! 😊
@@bobdeboo8549Man, you're the absolute best.
Wouuuuu Muchas gracias, todo mi respeto, aparte de ser un super Maestro.
Shout out to Adam Maness for having a Wurlitzer that sounds everybit as great as it looks. DeBoo-Bear, pleasure as always!
DeBoo-Bear! I love the stories you tell on the bass, man! You're so YOU!
This is so good it’s hard to put into words. It’s really impressive to hear someone wrestle those active, vertical bass lines from a double bass. And this is a cracking band! Old-school deep grooves. I could listen to this quartet all day.
I’m hearing some Jaco tone - and I mean that as a compliment. Beautiful, Bob! And I hear some Supertramp from Adam. Wish I could’ve been there!
Thank you!
Ha! I played a Wurlitzer with a phase shifter in college...sounded like a Rhodes. Memories!!! Thanks for the post...we heard it hear!
Great playing and energy from everybody. Love it :)
Thanks for listening
After seeing the name "Bob DeBoo" cross the feed, I clicked just to instinctively remark that I hate scat singing. However, I love the tenor sax and Wurlitzers, and Jazz quartets, and thoroughly enjoyed every second of the video, from Mr. Maness' swells, to Mr. Kirby's approach, and Mr. Wood's restraint. You are killer on the bass, sir. I wish that I had an upright to bow Deutsche style. Excellent performance, all! The algorithm giveth.
😅 a most lovely review! Glad to connect thru the algorithm and thanks for listening
The whole show was fabulous!
thanks Jason!
Great Tune! Thanks BDeBQ!!
Hey Bob, if you transcribed this solos, could you send a link to a pdf? TIA
Hi. Yes, I have it notated but I'm using the transcription for my upcoming Open Studio course" Walk Like Ray Brown" and therefore cannot share it here. Will be available in the coming months!
@@bobdeboo8549 could I possibly buy just the one transcription?
I love your mini lessons on Open Studio's channel.
Glad you like them! Thank you
Coming back for my fill of Deboo-Bear!!
you're the best!
@@bobdeboo8549 No. You're the best! You have no idea how your positive energy has changed my approach to practicing and playing. Thank you for just being here on the internet. Ive never been to St Louis, but if you guys ever have an open house let me know. Ill come down with my horns. :)
How am I just getting hip to this channel and content! Thank you Bob!
Beautiful lines and super clean execution ! Was that memorized ?
Hi Rob. Indeed, gorgeous lines and rhythm by Lee Konitz. I did memorize all of this and learned it all from ear. Oh, the pandemic practice days....how I miss all that free time!
Amazing walking. Great, as always!
Lovely playing, Bob! There is a small sound quality issue - mainly only getting audio from the right channel. Great videos though!
Thank you! That's an issue I'm working on, and I appreciate you letting me know.

Man this is so great. Thank you Bob!!
Such a beautiful player ❤
Awesome! I cannot fathom how one goes about learning such a complex piece. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Thank you! Lots of listening, time, and repetition (a lot!). Made it a mission, and really learned a lot in the process.
Nice!
Thanks!
Sounds great
Thank you!
You’re a monster!!!
Much appreciated!
I'm in our community jazz band at the university here, and we're preparing this number for our fall concert next month. You just gave me some ideas to walk with. Thx! The chart is pretty straightforward. Gonna steal some of your licks, though, and make 'em think I know what I'm doing! 😂
Very cool Busta! I have the notated transcription, if you'd like it at any point dm me : )
Hello bob, Its a nice piece you played. Specially the solo part!! Could i pleace have a copy of your transcription?
