I am disabled now. But back in the early 90's I was out at the Pine Ridge Reservation. I was appalled by what I saw. The poverty was beyond belief. You could tell that the people were crushed spirits. It made me so sad. Our Government did you all very very wrong. And, I am one American who is very ashamed as to what they have done to you all. Just so sad how little credits and respects our governments give to the Native Americans. Not just in the US. Canada, Australia, New Zeland and South America as well.

I like how natives are always portrayed as peaceful people that were just laying in the gras all day, watching it grow. But not as savages that enslaved, murdered and sacrificed each other, like any other tribal people. Like they didn't own african slaves, fought for slavery on the side of the confederacy and where the last ones to let their slaves be free. Like a lot, more civil tribes didn't fight side by side with europeans against the way more savage tribes. Today their reservations are sovereign nations, they don't pay american taxes, don't have to follow american law, but want american taxpayer money. All wile the tribal elders live like gods thanks to their casinos.

I have always been enamored of the indigenous people, having grown up areas of the United States replete with names whose origins are in their languages. Their art and culture has long captivated me, but their history after European contact burdens my soul.
