Hello, thanks for reaching out. Depending on the course of choice (acting/filmmaking) you'll have to supply a piece of work to go along with your application. You have to write an essay about yourself, past work, interests and what not, along with an actual application from their website www.nyfa.edu/ good luck on your adventure. B

Hello there, Cheers for reaching out. Email correspondence for me was the primary communication (AUS -> NYC) and they'd respond within a couple of days to any sort of queries. Audition response was about a 1 to 1.5 weeks.

The course helps prepare and heighten your skills, but alas with the creative industry, it's a small pond with a trillion fish. They'll help guide you and give you suggestions for places to check out, but the work will have to be found on your own. You might get to work on lots of indi films if you wish, many of the NYFA filmmaking students will utilize the acting students and vice versa, so you get to practice what you learnt within those aspects. A lot of the instructors are working professionals, one of mine is a regular character on Grey's Anatomy so it's really great to hear first hand knowledge, but they too, had to hustle the business like mad on their own. Myself and fellow students hit up auditions, some working on small off-broadway shows, some get a foot into stand-up comedy, but all in all, it's on you. You probably know how hard the biz is, so dont expect that doing any sort of course is going to be your foot in. Awesome if it does, but youre gonna have to get thick skin to survive the rejections and know, in your soul, that if it's worth it, it's going to take a lot of work, and even more willpower, to get there.
