This strip of I-5 has few hills, curves, and blind views that requires great attention. Never expect that the blind end of a curve is always free from obstacles. Drum brakes are the best for trucks. My Freightliner 2024 has serious problems with disc brakes that mess up the transmission by many acute, abrupt clinching, out of the blue. When the whole story of disc brakes is recognized, I guess, we won't use discs on trucks.

Great Point For viewers who might not know what you meant: On-Ramp is the entry ramp to highway Off-Ramp is the exit ramp from the highway. What @rodirby5952 meant is: The On-Ramp has slower traffic and is relatively safer to park on, than the OFF-RAMP where incoming drivers have greater speed and momentum. In any case, parking on ramp is not advised by all carriers, but truckers do what truckers want to do.

Every time you slip seat in a new truck, you get hundreds of past notifications dating 3 weeks of prior dates.

It is poor programming that causes annoyance. It seems like our IT folks struggle with setting proper parameters. In trucking, nobody complains because no complaint would be addressed. In addition, truckers view complaints as sort of softness unwarranted from a tough dude.

@@JackSmith-ru8fs Home every night? That is not afforded to casual folks. You earned it by hard work. What you got is a prime niche in transportation. The only thing you could do is to stay fit, keep your eyes on blood pressure, endurance for long walk. Too many people would envy your position, unaware that truck drivers pay heavy tools for sitting long hours, consuming junk food, enduring extreme stress. My last job with Walmart, as a fleet driver, I made regular over 100 K on my W-2, I got injured in both wrists, preferred a pay cut to get home daily. Since I started sleeping in my own bed every night, most of my health problems improved, I could now walk from my car to a long shopping tour on my feet, with little or no shortness of breath. That was a dream back then when I was out 5 days, home 2. Today, I could score over 80 K on my W-2, but happy to be mobile, comfortable, and sociable as normal as the rest of the population. Thank you again for sharing your story, which goes long way to teach the world how we live, work, and struggle with health issues.

Because your husband is a trucker, you know that trucks are separated from cars at travel centers. Most people do not know what you and I know. Before I started trucking, I never knew that cars should not get into the truck side, or whether there was such special side for trucks.
