I loved IT ENDS WITH US. I listened to the audiobook, and i was hesitant at first, but once I started it I couldn’t stop playing it. Hope you enjoy it
@@MusicFreak61594 I’m glad you found it engrossing. Honestly, I didn’t love it but I also don’t think the story deserves the amount of hate it gets. I made a video where I analyse Lily Bloom’s character.
@ I definitely do not understand the hate for the book either. I also don’t understand why people think abuse was glorified in the book. I was hesitant to read it at first because I tend to stay away from sad books, but I enjoyed the story, and the characters.
Oh please tell us how the empire of the vampire is
@@MusicFreak61594 Of course! I plan on reading this soon. I also ordered the second book in the series so I’m pretty excited about this. 😊
I'm about halfway through book two atm and I don't even remember the last time I was this hooked by a story. Richard Swan is now one of my new favorite authors, easily. Incredible intelligent writing and such a delightfully dark, gripping and fascinating story.
@@Hecticgeometric Hi! I’m so glad you are enjoying this series. I too couldn’t stop reading the books; they are a total page-turner. Be interesting to know what you think about the end. I was sad when I finished the last book - I wanted the story to continue forever. Happy reading and thanks for watching the video!
@enchantedbookendz I don't want it to end either but I am so excited to move on to the last book. I will try to remember to get back to you with my thoughts when I'm finished, I can't imagine it will be too long before that happens 😆 You're welcome btw! You can bet I'll be watching more of them from here on now! I hadn't been on TH-cam in forever until the other day, so I was happy to find some people with good taste in books and a passion for it ☺️
@ I’m just as excited for you to read the last book and look forward to hearing your thoughts. Do you read fantasy or other genres too? I’m asking so that I can make more videos focused on genres that viewers enjoy as I read multiple genres. Ah and well back to booktube! 😊
@@enchantedbookendz I do read mostly fantasy but I also read a bit of sci-fi, thrillers, some other random fiction and some nonfiction too like true crime, memoirs, mental health, plants and animals, a little history, etc. So a little bit of everything lol. I'm always willing to try new things too!
@ That’s great. Thank you. Welcome to the ‘no-specific genre’ club lol. I’ll try to read and review more fantasy books.
Glad that you liked this book. These type of stories will never be my thing but that's alright.☃️🎄
@@davidsbookreviews4983 Thanks for watching the video, David. 😊🎄
Goodness! I would never imagine a book with a cover like that and a character named 'Hex' the Prince of Halloween would have such graphic spiciness!!! I do not typically read romances, but since you asked, NO I have read historical novels that have 'spicy' scenes that are downright p0rn0gr@phic and it bores me stiff and I skim those parts. Thank you for the quick book review.
@@JosephFrancisBurton Right?! These cute covers are highly deceptive. What is strange here is that the graphic spiciness just doesn’t fit the cute vibes of the story. Ah you are right; historical fiction is another genre that is sometimes a victim of this spice trend. I stopped reading the Outlander series because of that. Thanks for watching the video! :)
This is such an impactful read. It's a tiny gem. ❤
@@marias.5812 I agree. Thanks for watching the video. 😊
So many interesting books!
@@cherry_4996 I can’t wait to read them all. Thanks for watching. 😊
Heyy!! I’m thinking of buying a book for holidays! Do you think this book is for age 12-13? Is it worth it?
@@LifewClairee. Hiya! The book is fine for children but I don’t think they’ll enjoy it unless the child loves Edinburgh. I’d recommend The Boy Called Christmas by Matt Haig. It is absolutely charming for children and adults. 😊
@@enchantedbookendzThank you so much ! ❤
@@LifewClairee. You’re most welcome! 😊
Absolutely loved Mexican Gothic! It was a really strange book, but had enough of the mystery and creeps to get me hooked. The twists and turns were just right, and I truly enjoyed the prose. Beautifully written.
@@abenavides60 Woohoo! Yea, it was a strange book indeed. Have you read any other books by the author? Thanks for watching the video! :)
My order of War and Peace is coming in a few weeks. I appreciate the spoiler-free review haha. I'm interested to see how I feel about it! Also, what is the title of the beautiful blue book with the face in the moons on your shelf? Lovely video :)
@@milk3014 Exciting! I hope you like the book. The blue book is The Luminaries by Eleanor Catton. It has been on my shelf for a while; I’m planning to read it next year. Thank you so much for watching the video! Happy reading! :)
But I heard the book was degrading to Italians? And written below average style
Hi! I found nothing in the book that was degrading to Italians. Mario Puzo himself was a son of Italian immigrants and in this fictional book he has created a "mythical culture" of the Italian American organized crime groups. There is nothing that attacks or degrades the lovely Italian culture or Italians. I have read many books, and I must say that his writing style is unique and effective. The character developments and plot both are extraordinary. It is truly a masterpiece. I found it very entertaining and in no way did I generalize anything in the book with "all Italians". I hope you give this book a try!
What a drag - even my little local bookstore heavily promotes local authors! My answers to your questions: 1) I want to finish reading El Filibusterismo by Jose Rizal, I have heard it is quite different from his first novel Noli Me Tangere. 2) Not really an autumnal book (I am not a seasonal or mood reader) but I do plan on reading Dostoevesky's The Idiot while on Christmas Holiday. Maybe I will read War and Peace instead if you are also planning on that one. 3) Three Books by the end of the year: OK, Steppenwolf by Hermann Hesse; Satan in Goray by Isaac Bashevis Singer; and On the Edge of the Storm by Agustín Yáñez. 4) I have read some stinkers this year, but thus far my favorite is The Siege by Ismail Kadare, but I hope Satan in Goray will top that. 5) no special reading plans, sorry I missed your poll, but maybe I can participate in your read-along!! Thank you for the video.
Thanks for answering the questions. I have never heard of any of these books except Dostoevsky's The Idiot. I do plan to read Crime and Punishment next year. I'm about to finish War and Peace. If Tolstoy hadn't written the longest epilogue I've ever come across, I would have posted a review last week. I have now added The Siege to my TBR list. It looks like a book I'll like. Thanks for watching the video! :)
I’ve read all the books by Susanna Kearsley. I love her writing style and the way she tells the story in a very engaging way where you can’t wait to see what happens next. I’d started with The Firebird, just a random pick from the library, and loved it so much that I had to read all of her books. My favorites were Firebird, Winter Sea, and Mariana and least favorite Bellewether (her last one). I can’t wait to read the latest book which didn’t know was being released this year. I actually found your channel when you did the review on her book The Rose Garden ( I think). She also coauthored a book called The Deadly Hours which is also very good.
@tanyab244 I'm so jealous you've read all her books! I can't wait to read The King's Messenger. If I don't find that book soon, I think I might read Mariana next. I didn't know about The Deadly Hours; I'll add it to my TBR list. Thanks. :)
I have been a fan of Oates for about 45 years. I'm envious of you for having so many Oates books to discover! I also shared this video to Oates' Twitter, btw. Thank you!
@@GarySwafford-p2f Thanks for watching the video. I can’t wait to read more of her books! Do you have a favorite book by her? Aw thanks so much for sharing the video to the author’s twitter! 😯
@@enchantedbookendz I have many faves from Oates' books, Bellefleur was the first one I read way back in 1980, and I immediately knew that I'd be reading her the rest of my life, which I have. You Must Remember This is wonderful. As are Blonde and We Were the Mulvaneys are her recent Butcher. Among her short story collections I love Wild Nights!, Lovely Dark Deep and High Lonesome. And she's a great literary essayist and poet. Please go right now and read my fave Oates poem, Burning Oak, November & let me know what you think.
@@GarySwafford-p2f Thank you for sharing some of your favorite titles. I read the poem. It brought me to tears. 😭 I reread it a couple of times and it just settled in my heart like a heaviness I can’t do anything about! That last word of the poem, “yesterday”, brings the reality of a life’s end into perspective. Anyway, I don’t know what I’m saying. I loved the poem. Thank you! :)
@@enchantedbookendz yes indeed. It's a little masterpiece.
I really enjoyed the book as well. It was interesting because I'd seen the movie a million times before it. The book still managed to be original to me. I didn't imagine Al Pacino as Michael or Marlon Brando as the Don. It felt like its own separate thing to me.
@TwoScoopsXD That's great! I watched the movies after reading the book but I was able to enjoy the movies. Knowing that Mario Puzo wrote both the books and the script is incredible. Thanks for watching the video! 🙂
Definitely NOT a book for me HAHA, and the only book I have read with Vampires is Dracula. Oh wait, I have not read that one either. Why should I? I hate vampires!! HAHA. I have never read A Court of Thorns and Roses, and likely never will, but my wife has so Carissa Broadbent might be gift books for her! Thank you for the video.
Haha I've noticed that most men hate vampires whereas women love them lol. Ah yes, your wife might enjoy this book! Thanks for watching, Joseph! 🙂
@@enchantedbookendz - let me clarify - Vampires are fine, but I hate the more handsome young vampires in love stuff that I ultimately blame Anne Rice for after her Interview with a Vampire. I recently watched _Bram Stoker's Dracula_ from the early '90s and while I can nit pick about the story it was absolutely gorgeous to look at and very creepy!
@@JosephFrancisBurton That makes sense! You should absolutely stay away from the Twilight series. 😄
I have no idea what you mean by Regency Slang. So I typed 'Regency Slang' into Dr Google and the first hit was Georgette Heyer's personal website 🤨
@@JosephFrancisBurton I’m not surprised about the google search results. Georgette Heyer was the first woman in the 20th century to research and write historical fiction (specifically, romance) set in the regency era. She was known for the accuracy of her research and so I have no doubt that some of the phrases she used in her stories were indeed from that era. One such phrase I can recall from the top of my head is ‘Pink of the Ton’. There are many but I borrowed the book from the library so I don’t have it with me to look up more regency slang. 😄 Thanks for watching the video, Joseph! 😊
@@enchantedbookendz Ankita, thank you for that - your comment explains a lot to me..!!

@@megclouds I’m glad! 😊 Thanks for watching the video.
Good to know that you did not hate this as much as you thought you would 🤧Anyway, based on your quick plot summary, I think I shall pass on this book. Thank you for the video.
@@JosephFrancisBurton Thanks for watching the video! 😊
I just finished Silas Marner and I loved it! Thank you for making a video on it, I'm always happy to hear what other people think of the books I've read. As you said, George Eliot is such a great realist writer. Reading this book felt like being transported to Raveloe, sitting right next to its inhabitants, listening to them tell their tales. It was a very immersive and interesting!
@vevoreads You are most welcome. I'm glad you loved the book! I do recall liking Marner's neighbor and her little boy. I don't recall their names now but some of their scenes were so heartwarming. Thank you for watching the video!
Thank you for making a review without spoilers! I can't wait to read it.
@@tanliz765 You’re most welcome! I hope you enjoy the book. Happy reading! 😊
Yes Ankita, I am a George Eliot fanatic, so of course I have read both Middlemarch and Silas Marner. I am glad that you enjoyed both of these novels more than I did - they are the two least in my personal opinion The things that stand out to me about Silas Marner is that it has one of George Eliot's most dastardly villians and old Silas needs to learn how to lock his door - how many people stumble in and out of his house?? HAHA. Oh!! great, I am glad to hear you are planning on Mill on the Floss next, it is one of my favorites but VERY different from both the novels you read. Since you asked, my personal favorite by George Eliot, and I have read everything she wrote, is her final novel and masterpiece Daniel Deronda. Thank you for the video.
Joseph, thanks for watching the video! Now that you’ve said these two are your least favorite novels by Eliot, I’m really looking forward to reading her other novels! :D Oh, yes, the Cass brothers! Great, I’m adding Daniel Deronda to my reading list right now. Thanks! 😊
@@enchantedbookendz - Thanks for beware, my opinions are in the minority. I am aware that Middlemarch is the most brilliant thing I ever read - but I spent 18 months on it and it was not an enjoyable experience to get through HAHA but I acknowledge that it is an amazing work of literature! Daniel Deronda is just as long, but in my mind much more coherant with the two major plot lines interwoven seamlessly. Whatever you decide, I hope you enjoy your next George Eliot read and I am looking forward to hear more of your opinions on her work. George Eliot is indeed amazing!
Fantastic! Glad you enjoyed listening to this - most audiobooks make me sleepy, but I love when a good thriller can help me with house chores!! HAHAH
Thanks! Yeah, this was so engrossing that I couldn’t stop listening. I can never sit still while listening to an audiobook so I end up cleaning my apartment or cooking lol. 😆 Thanks for watching the video!
Thank you for the review - glad you enjoyed it. Since you asked, no I do not think I have ever read an office workplace shenanigans novel. I do not work in an office thank goodness..!!!!! HAHA
@@JosephFrancisBurton You’re welcome! Thanks for watching the video. Ah, lucky you! 😄 I have always worked in an office but thankfully my coworkers are nothing like the ones in this book.
Ankita, I have only been through London long enough to depart Heathrow for the train depot and get the heck out of there!!! I was in Oxford and Swindon on business last year though and had a wonderful time. I can't tell you much about the book stores there - sorry. Precious Bane looks by far the most interesting of the lot!! Thank you for the video.
Hi Joseph! Ah Oxford is another great place for book lovers! Lots of bookstores! I recently moved to Canada and I’m already missing the bookstores in UK. Hopefully, I’ll get to Precious Bane soon and post a review. Thanks for watching the video! 😊

Hi Joseph! Thanks for watching the video! 😊
I really want to reread it, but it was too scary for me. The book has this dense, creepy atmosphere that makes me feel like I'm about to see something behind my back.
I agree it is a very dark atmospheric book. Thanks for watching the video! 😊
Yes it is.
That poor dog coming to the station!! AND yes, big burly men can cringe at the sight of blood HAHA
Hi Joseph. It was truly heartbreaking. Thanks for watching the video. :)
I do not care how many farmers are helping, how in the world do you life a cow?? 😲 Thank you for the video.
Hi Joseph! I know, right?! I have a new-found respect for Yorkshire farmers after reading some of the incidents in this book. Thank you for watching the video. 😊
OK, I still do not like when farmers laugh at somebody getting kicked by a cow, but laughing at some sad sack forced to wear a ridiculous suit is perfectly acceptable!! HAHA
What? Poor James Herriot getting kicked by a cow does now sound funny at all..!! What kind of farmer would laugh at that??? That is my biggest thought - anyway thank you for the video, I am glad that you are enjoying the book thus far.
Haha I think farmers are a hardened breed for whom a few cow kicks are probably a routine thing, something that is expected and they probably know how to avoid it. For them it must have been funny to see a man with a fancy degree (on how to treat animals) get harmlessly kicked and shoved. Also, Herriot was the new vet and they much preferred the previous vet. They did however always send Herriot away with a few eggs or goodies, or at least invited him for a meal. Thanks for watching the video! 😊
Yes.
I loved this book. I read it in a couple of weeks.Ive also read her books The Caravaners and Fraulein Schmidt and Mr Anstruther I highly recommend them.

@@enchantedbookendzThank you for replying! 💜 I wish your channel grows more.
The Shining was great, I really enjoyed the characters, and I do get why it’s considered an iconic King classic, although I did find the tangents and random sudden flashbacks really hurt the pacing. Even though they did pay off in the end at the timr of reading them they really broke the immersion and made me forget at times where we were beforehand. I agree with you on the characters. I also really enjoyed Eye of the Dragon. If you want more King recs: Billy Summers (a more recent one that is not a horror), Four Past Midnight (an anthology of horror novellas, one of my top 10 books of last year), Gerald’s Game (the scariest King book I’ve read due to the fact that it is realistic horror) and Desperation (another one of last year’s top 10, a horror book set in a deserted town with great tension and atmosphere to it).
Thanks for watching and for great recommendations! 😊I think I'll like Billy Summers. I've added it to my TBR list.
I have just finished my mammoth "The Eighth Life" by Nino Haratischwili (944 pages in Hardback, 1258 pages on Kindle), I am still processing my thoughts, I think March of the Mammoths is a great event to encourage us to read such behemoths. It is an amazing story, living in Tbilisi I know many of the places mentioned in the book.

I recently read Solzhenitsyn 'Cancer Ward' that dealt with a lot of the post-Stalin era Soviet Union concerns of Central Asia, and although it was not Georgian, it was more Uzbek and Kazakh, I wanted to like the novel so much ... but I did not, it was so wooden and stiff and I got very little out of it. Such a shame!! If my library does not have it, I am ordering The Eighth Life based solely on the strength of your recommendation. I will listen to the interview later. Thank you for the recommendation!!
@JosephFrancisBurton Yay! I'm thrilled for you to read this book and I can't wait to hear your thoughts on it. Thank you so much for watching. Happy reading! 😊
@@enchantedbookendz - I am not able to find a used copy within my budget for the time being ... in the meantime I will wait for my library to get a copy!!
