A delightful presentation. I enjoyed Howard’s post-fight interviews and analysis. Very respectful and proper. 32:20 So rounds like this seem interesting. Judge Roth (the one who was not accused of favoring Cooney) said it seemed like a close round and Holmes stole it at the end. Whereas the other two said it was Cooney’s round until Holmes took charge in the end. I thought I saw a fairly even round until Holmes had Cooney in a little perceivable trouble. But with Cooney doing most of the “stalking,” I don’t think it’s too much to say that if they were around even on punches/damage but one man is constantly advancing then the more “aggressive” one can be said to win the round (or, in this case, section of the round). I’m still getting into boxing scoring so I’ll maybe watch a third time (this was my second time).

I had it even after 13. I made round one 10-8 because of the massive discrepancy in punches thrown. You can't do nothing and expect a 9. After the first four rounds, it's like Holmes gassed. Spinks did not seem to even start punching until round 5, then Spinks just threw a lot more and seemed to land a lot more. I respect Holmes jab and superior power but you need to do more to win rounds. He has nobody to blame but himself. "Looks like he can't hurt holmes" and "not phased by it" Sure- but what the hell was Holmes doing besides no-selling spinks' power punches? Not until round 14 did Holmes finally show some aggression. Finally. Note: Most would not give a 10-8 round one and I get that. In that scenario, Spinks earns the draw because of round 15.

Holmes a top 3 heavyweight, fought sick, injured and never postponed, and the era tyson was top was even weaker, Tyson was a hype job, the 1st guy who boxed him like a younger holmes would've beat him. The holmes that fought shavers or cooney, that shavers punch was a harder single shot than any tyson landed, Tyson was a product of T. V companies and regardless of sanctioning bodies, Holmes was the champ, WBA was a joke, but by 83 Larry realised WBC was too much in King's influence and IBF was what the WBC used to be, WBA Arum, WBC King. The vacant IBF belt gave Tyson his toughest fights, Tucker (who if he'd had Holmes heart could have beaten tyson) and Douglas, who for that fight did. Prison didn't do for tyson, nor did losing cus, like every tyson fan likes to say.... 'If Cus hadn't died Mike would never have gone to prison!' WRONG! Cus let him get away with loads of crap, Larry said he would, and guess what, he got beat, tried to fight it in the courts, but lost the public, and was never the same again, he was just a man, if he had been around 5 years younger or later may have won a belt, but never would have been the best.
