If you think about it, we've never seen the Binars again. I guess Star fleet said no to future contracts. The real mystery is why they could not recover the one thing Riker wanted saved.

Despite this being a mediocre episode, it was probably one of the better season one episodes. Nice review, guys. I knew something was up with that plant, but I forgot about it.

One of my favorite episodes from season one. Unfortunately, it started to become the norm that Wesley saves the day.

I think they were having an issue naming the episode. "The big goodbye" is a much tighter name than this episode. The focus is on this being one of the first uses of the holodeck and that it can be dangerous too. I think the red-shirt was there to assist with the historical aspects of having these insectoids join Starfleet. You guys are doing a bang-up job with your reviews. Keep it up!

To me, this episode was just pieced together with no real motivation. They just tossed in Deanna for background and to introduce her mother and fiancé. Like many season one episodes, undeveloped. Great review. Keep it up.

The weird thing is, if the kids Wesley was hanging with knew not to disturb the flowers, why did they intentionally throw a ball towards the flowers? Shouldn't the rest of the group have been scheduled for execution as accessories to the crime?

In their defense, they were still early in their development. These quirks add to the fun.

Visually this episode always looked like it could have taken place in The Original Series.

After watching Steve Shives justifiably scathing youtube review of this Next Generation episode I saw the thumbnail for this one and just HAD to see what you guys thought... I was in my mid-30s when this episode first aired. I hadn't owned a TV in years, but when I heard there was going to be a new Star Trek show I bought a used one at a garage sale. The two-part pilot episode with that comical yet scarily-dangerous demigod villain Q gave me great hopes for TNG, and the next one was OK, (revisiting that THE NAKED GO CRAZY theme from a TOS episode), and the week after that came CODE OF HONOR... I didn't watch TNG again until the season was almost over; it was that insipid and grotesque. I think my dad could have written a less racist Star Trek episode; and he's basically an Italian-American Archie Bunker (All in the Family). Thankfully TNG got a lot better in subsequent seasons, and DS9 is my favorite television show period.

Hey guys, back again. My view is that you've fixed a lot of the issues here that you were having in the first videos. This one's a longer video and it feels like things just have space to breathe. There's not as much interruption of each other which helps it have more of a flow, and each of you had plenty of opportunities to speak and say what your views were. It was also nice to see a few more clips in there and even a few little special effects (the smoke in the vaccine container for example). So overall, big improvement here I felt. Well done guys.
