    What’s a pocket hose

    • @patricksirk6920
      @patricksirk6920 23 วันที่ผ่านมา

      It's the type of hose with ridges on the hose. It expands when filled with water. Search "pocket hose". You'll recognize them. They are very popular.

    So, you don’t have to cut the metal strip it’s just the correct size to work for this project?

    • @patricksirk6920
      @patricksirk6920 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I got lucky. The strip I found fit almost perfectly. If I recall, it was a bit short to fit all the way end to end but it didn’t really matter. And cutting it with hacksaw or rotary tool would have been no problem.

    As a warning though: You risk the possibility of tearing the steel strap from inside-out of the aluminum frame. It is the correct solution, but I would also suggest doubling up, or using a thicker strap in addition to washers on both sides of the frame to prevent that from happening

      yes this makes sense. Since I moved to Hawaii and didn't take those umbrellas with us, I can't comment on the longevity of my work.

Make sure it can handle the psi of your washer and that it’s the correct size for your hose. www.amazon.com/Pressure-Washer-Jetter-Cleaning-Orifice/dp/B09MC6HLDB/ref=mp_s_a_1_26?crid=YD6FZDCJLYPU&keywords=chalco+jetter+nozzles&qid=1697692576&sprefix=chalco+jetter+nozzles%2Caps%2C224&sr=8-26

    haha that is EXACTLY how I did it without watching this video. With summer coming and a broken umbrella, I looked around Home Depot and found that metal strip that fit exactly inside. I cut an 8 inch piece and first I tried to glue it inside across the break (didn't hold well), then realized I could just put screws through each broken piece and through the metal rod and fit it together. I also glued the sh*t out of it. Great minds think alike.

  • @reginarickert3457
    @reginarickert3457 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thank you! Worked perfectly. Easy $1.47 fix since I used the metal arm from another old market umbrella we were tossing. It already had the hole, just had to cut off a few inches from one end to line the hole up. Slipped right inside the broken cantilever umbrella pieces. You saved me a fortune and I never would have thought of this!

    Just subscribed to your channel. Was your hydrojett not successful at clearing the roots out. Were you using an electric or gas pressure washer, what continuous pressure were you jetting your drain at?

    • @patricksirk6920
      @patricksirk6920 23 วันที่ผ่านมา

      My Hydro jet was not able to clear the roots. But I know that you can buy jets that rotate and can cut through 2x4's. However, this gets into professional territory and you'd need a pro washer with massive pressure (I'd think).

    • @patricksirk6920
      @patricksirk6920 23 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I was using gas washer. I don't think you'd get the pressure you need out of an electric. I was working with a Stihl RB800 gas power washer at 4200 psi. It's a brute and must be used with caution. Very expensive too, but I used it for many different kinds of cleaning jobs. My Hydro jet was not able to clear the roots. But I know that you can buy jets that rotate and can cut through 2x4's. However, this gets into professional territory and you'd need a pro washer with massive pressure (I'd think).

    Patrick, exactly the information that I was looking for to make a repair for a wind situation! What kind of rod did you use and where did you get it? What screws and nuts did you use for the connections and pivot points? I have to repair two broken ribs! You made a very neat repair

    • @patricksirk6920
      @patricksirk6920 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The rod was in the basement but you should be able to find it on Amazon or home despot. I think half inch by 1/8. Steel or aluminum should work. As for screws and nuts, nothing special. But I did trim off the excess screw length with a Dremel rotary tool.

    • @kiasnell5383
      @kiasnell5383 ปีที่แล้ว

      Did you ever get a response to your question regarding boards bowing? I just purchased 2 and I looked at all the reviews before investing and saw nothing really negative. Now that they are here, I’m noticing your concern so just wondering if you received a response? 😊

    • @patricksirk6920
      @patricksirk6920 23 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yes, I've seen composite boards bow in many applications. No solution except for attaching maybe a 2x4 to the back. But then, you might as well just build a bed out of wood. Advantage of using plastic boards is they do not rot or fade in color.

    I like your technique your ingenuity I'm a drain cleaner for about 35 years now the first thing I did is got a pressure washer and kept the end of the line and made my first hydro Jeter one comment on the corrugated pipe I find it best do not use a blade on that pipe it'll just grab it and tear it up what I do if I leave the blade on there I have like a pear shape blade anyway any root cutter blade take some duct tape and just wrap it up so it's just got like a fist going through there not too big but you know just just tape it up so the blaze is not going to be cutting through there if that's still too big the pipe does crush and you won't be able to get a cable through there anyway but water is just going through there we could do is take the cable do the same thing at the end of the cable take the cutter blade off duct tape it make just like a little ball kind of at the end of it I found that works best and then go ahead with your hydro Jeter that's not going to hurt it one tip on the hydrogener going as fast as you can and pull it out as slow as you want to that's when the line cleaning is getting done when you're pulling it out you're going to hit your first blockage just get through it and get on to the end of the pipe as fast as you can and then just take your time pulling it back twisting it quarter to half turns each direction rotating left right left and you'll get a good clean pipe out of it you did a good job too by the way . Playing poker you know its true if you have a full House always beats a flush but in our business a flush beats a full House no matter what!. Because if you have no flush you can never have full house But either way if you have a full house and you do have a flush good to know your going for that royal flush Tada!!!!
