Ollie's big day out
A day out in the float Caravan with my good friends Oliver and Michael. This Caravan is our amphibious C208, fitted with Wipline 8000A floats and powered by the PT6A-114A (the same variant of PT6 fitted to our Grand Caravan). We offer seaplane training in this aircraft, as well as gas turbine engine endorsements.

มุมมอง 30821 วันที่ผ่านมา
A typical day in the life in our aviation world. Lot's of Caravan's, a breakdown or two, and in particular C208 training on both the landplane C208B Grand Caravan and the amphibious Wipline float equipped seaplane. We pick up the floatplane from our maintenance organisation, Hunter Aerospace (which is our Garmin dealership for our avionics installs), duck across to Cessnock Airport (YCNK) for a...
Cessna 310 School: Start, run-up, takeoff and landing
มุมมอง 1.9Kหลายเดือนก่อน
A video covering a short flight in our Cessna 310R! The C310 is a workhorse of the charter / Part 135 world, and an aircraft we conduct a lot of multi engine training in. The R model Cessna 310 is fitted with a pair of Continental IO-520-MB six cylinder engines. In this video, we go through the start, pre-takeoff and run-up items, takeoff safety brief, and then a takeoff and landing.
A Scout outing, with new carb, new mags and new sunnies!
มุมมอง 279หลายเดือนก่อน
A short flight in my American Champion 8GCBC Scout. The Scout is fitted with a Lycoming 0-360 and a constant speed propeller. It has recently had an upgrade to include a GI275 PFD and a GNX375 GPS / ADSB Transponder. I predominantly use the Scout for tailwheel training, as well as bush flying and off airport flight training.
A day in the life of a charter pilot - icy start to the day!
มุมมอง 7202 หลายเดือนก่อน
A day out on a charter in our Cessna Grand Caravan. The C208B is slightly longer than the standard C208, but still powered by the Pratt and Whitney PT6 turboprop. We utilise the Caravan on Part 135 operations, and in this particular case the flight is one of our regular clinic flights. We also conduct flight training in the Cessna Caravan series, both on wheels and floats!
Muddy start to the day for the Beaver!
มุมมอง 7902 หลายเดือนก่อน
A muddy start to the day for a post maintenance flight on our DeHavilland Beaver. This DHC-2 is a 1957 model, and is currently on standard tyres. Previously, this aircraft has been on straight floats, amphibious floats, and tundra tyres. Powered by the Pratt and Whitney R985 radial engine, we use the Beaver for scenic flights and bush flying training.

A video on the basics of the IFR equipment fitted to our aircraft, including the receiver units (such as the GPS / GNSS unit, VOR and ADF), the types of indicators and the forms of integrity monitoring for the navaids during IFR flight. The units shown in this video are the Garmin GTN650 GPS, and various VHF localisers. I aim to make more videos for student general interest prior to starting th...
I bought a Beaver! Or part thereof.
มุมมอง 2.2K3 หลายเดือนก่อน
After years of flying the DeHavilland Beaver, I’ve finally bought my own as a project! This DHC-2 is a 1964 model and hasn’t flown since the early 2000’s. It has the Advanced Wing Technology wings, which allow the MTOW to be increased to 6050 pounds. It’s going to take a lot of work to rebuild / restore, and will be a future project, so don’t expect too many restoration updates for a while! Lik...
Cub rebuild Part 1 - Engine removal
มุมมอง 2903 หลายเดือนก่อน
The first part in the rebuild process of my 1950 PA18 Super Cub! Originally built as a military L21A, this Cub was modified to PA18-150 status by STC at some point in its life prior to my purchase of it. It was rolled over a couple of years ago, and I’m just getting around to the repairs now. It will be given a new fuselage frame and an overhauled engine.

Thanks for all those details about flying the C310! Do you have the 414 too?
You're very welcome! No 414 unfortunately, I'd love to have a fly of one some time though!
Hi Toby, that is a very good video, thank you! I do not understand the first part: you usually start the engine with props in feather position, you mentioned, because of the airflow- but if in feather position, you will not get a lot of airflow around the aircraft, right? Please explain again.
You're welcome, thanks! That's correct, if it's in feather then the propeller is barely pushing any air, so it is just reducing the amount of noise and dust etc we're blowing for a little bit longer until we unfeather the propeller to start taxiing.
Thank you!
Submarine stuff
And th3 yanks and fishing boats ha this is a cool plane
Kinda matches the stock market stuff and the hospital monitors
Use a great teacher of this thank you
Ur good here
What if acations 😅
850 degrees or 805?
We cut the start if it reaches 850 degrees because the Cessna limit is 1090, but if it’s racing towards that there isn’t much margin before it goes over. The 805 you’re thinking of is the ITT limit for takeoff (time limited to a minute).
Why is the 310r one of your favs? What makes it good in your eyes?
I think the look of them more than anything else! With the tip tanks and the long nose etc.
@@aeroplanetoby Nice. My “win the lotto” plane would be the 421c
I saw the video of you flying the beautiful piper super cub, and I was wondering how much would it cost to buy one as it is my dream plane!
They are great machines! I am in the process of rebuilding mine. The price of them varies considerably depending on condition, but usually around the mid $100k's USD.
@@aeroplanetoby damn that’s a lot how can you afford it
Gorgeous airplane!
Thanks!
All speeds seem vwry similar to my 1957 H35 Bonanza. Cruise, gear speeds, approach. With, arguably, better safety of a 2nd engine i would feel better about flying at night over rough terrain or in mild imc. Sunny VFR day though, landing on a grass strip, vary hard to beat a Bonanza
Yep, the speeds are fairly similar! The second engine, whilst not giving spectacular climb performance, will still keep it going unless it's very hot or high. Both are great machines!
Nice to see Aussie aviation content! Love these vids.
Love this style of video. Just short and casual no flashy editing. Can't wait till I finish school and can get down there and meet you guys.
Thanks mate! I appreciate the feedback. Hopefully catch up with you one day!
I had a 340 180 ga same stuff not really that complicated
Give us something about the different antennas
Outstanding production 👍
Stunning..!!!
Damn, that other traffic must be close
On the ground, it happens when people don’t turn their transponder to standby taxiing around.
@@aeroplanetoby I am sorry, I am aware of that, I just found that callout funny.
A very nice Monday if you ask me.
It was ok!
I managed to get some hours in a tiger moth, but I could not help but think about what could possibly go wrong in a hundred year old aircraft. Needless to say having crossed it off my bucket list so stopped tempting fate to such a degree. Lots of pilots back in the day wore parachutes when they were flying.....interesting to consider!
True! They are getting old. But I suppose maintenance mitigates the risk, and the remaining risk is the price we pay to fly such amazing pieces of history.
Awesome competence mate Gonna watch this over and over. !
Thanks for the feedback mate!
@aeroplanetoby love your work. I flew the 1900d in Afghanistan for 3 years. And Sudan, Congo, Algeria, Mali, and Ghana. Super flows and logic. The way all pilots should be thinking particularly under stress( checklists are mandatory as a backup) but there are times when you need to get out of there. Great Australian pilot..
"Well you know my name is Simon And I like to do flying I like to fly everyday So come and do flying with me" 🎶🛩️😂 I will die a Caravan fan, but the 310 is a nice change of pace.
Simon does indeed like to do flying! I am a Caravan fanatic too, but I do enjoy the 310 on occasion!
Good flyer but he talks funny.............
Thanks for the ride !
You’re welcome!
Excellent video.
Thanks mate!
Y really want to get this aircraft!!! But I will have to wait some years...
They’re great!
The prop lever should be in max during start not in feather pal.
Thanks champ.
Great, fun aircraft to fly around in - assuming you are not in a hurry! And why would you be with great views of the Hunter Valley
Sure is! At least it's a touch faster than the Cub! Haha.
How many seats are there? Me and my friend wanna buy a Navajo but we need a 9 seated one.
10!
Great, informative video. Good first look overview! I'll watch it again for sure.
Thanks mate! I appreciate that.
I have the 310R model..I love it..I just sold the C210 and B35 Bonanza..I miss them..a lot of bills 💵 though
I love the R model 310, the pinnacle of piston twins I think! I also don’t miss the bills for them!
You have 8.50-10’s on there that are 25.5 in. Diameter. In the states we use the 29x11.0-10’s (field approval) that are the 29 inch diameter you spoke of. Much better look
Thanks! Now you mention it, I put them next to the Caravan’s true 29’s, and they’re a lot smaller. We would need an EO (engineering order) here to install anything not approved by the manual or an STC. I think before long we’ll go back to the 35’s anyway!
🎉very poor presentation.should prepare better. Not very useful info. Sorry for my observations.
😂😂😂😂 chin up champ.
Other youtubers would have you believe it takes only seconds to start up and fly.
Maybe I’m just slow!
@@aeroplanetoby Maybe you're just safe?
Never boring if there are aircraft involved!
Thanks mate!
Glad to see another video!
I’ve been a bit slow on them lately I know!
I used to go up in these when i was a kid when they were used for super spreading
The other one I have is a former super spreader before it turned into a seaplane actually.
@@aeroplanetoby I intend to buy one of these planes one day and I will keep you in ind for training

@@aeroplanetoby GTE and C208 endorsed now. Thanks for your help!
I love the whole experience...thank you!!!!😊
Absolutely beautiful. Never been on top in a J-3 but in other aircraft, yes. I’m afraid I’d be a bit nervous without a turn and bank in the panel even with a solid ceiling under me. I do love this kind of flying. Best was on top under a full moon. Prettiest flying ever but I was also on an IFR flight plan.
I was a Y2K PILOT...ACCORDING TO Cleveland center I was the only aircraft flying this Side of the MISSISSIPPI...Was a VFR mission...fantastic fireworks!!!
If anyone have short notes on c208B please contact me
What’s the control harmony like on the Beaver?
You’ll find the elevator and rudder are both very responsive, however the ailerons are much more sluggish to respond. Still effective, but don’t have an instant response feel like the elevator and rudder.
Great video, super easy to understand. There's hardly any material on youtube about avionics so this was great
Thanks mate! I appreciate the feedback.
That's one of them new fangled starters.
Haha yep 😂
How about build quality, fit and finish, interior noise, breakdown history, etc
I'm flying another almost new one the week after next, so I'll try and update on that! The build quality is awesome, and the interior noise is about the same as the Caravan. This particular one is so new that it's probably not fair to compare it's breakdown history yet!
