How would you navigate a job that requires every other weekend? Would you expect a certain percent higher salary if the other APP's are working M-F?
Everyone usually rotates weekends
@@ahmed_np Alot of my friends work 1 weekend a month, so I thought EOW seemed like a good amount
Thanks so much for this wonderful video, the NP exam has been so difficult for me… but it seems so easy with your video and explanations.
The NP Exam is known for its challenging nature, and it can be really tough to deal with failing after putting in so much effort into your studies. It’s completely normal to feel frustrated. But right now I don’t think I only feel frustrated I also feel like giving up which isn’t my thing. 😞😞
@@CelineJonas Hey, Man remember, you’ve got this!!! Just keep your focus and keep pushing forward. Success will come when the time is right. I truly admire your determination to pursue a rewarding career-it's never too late to follow your passion.
Honestly, some people have a natural talent for test-taking, while others might struggle despite their hard work. I didn’t study extensively but managed to pass, while I know many who dedicated countless hours and didn’t achieve the same outcome. The key is to stay calm and confident during the exam. Creating personal mnemonics and phrases, just like Mr. Tony always advises, can really enhance retention. I developed unique sayings that clicked with me to help remember the material.
@@CelineJonas It’s inspiring to see you taking charge of your future! I have a 42-year-old in my current study group with Mr. Tony, and it just proves that it’s never too late to chase your dreams.
Sometimes, it really doesn’t matter how hard you study; you also need to pray to God for success.
I’m looking into NP school and specialize in surgery.

Yes 🙌 I wanted to complete my FNP, but I just do not like medical as much I like psych. I got into nursing to be in Psych. I worked psych for many years and I can tell you I have seen an influx of Psych NPs that are also FNP’s and they are miserable. People are making Psych to seem like it’s a walk in the park lol. You gotta like what you do, or it will eat you up inside.
If you don’t mind me asking what is the pay difference between doing this type of practice as an NP and working at a large level 1? I’m currently working as flight nurse and I’m making a GREAT living doing my 24/12’s with overtime and still having 7-8 days off in the pay period. But I’m really thinking about going back for FNP/ENP or CRNA to make same/more with no overtime. There’s a lot more hurdles to jump through to go CRNA and to be honest I’m not sure I would enjoy it as much as ER/urgent care and I have hopes that the US will join the rest of the world utilizing providers more in EMS and I think I would really enjoy that. But I’ve worked in the ER a lot and I have a feeling like you I’ll end up miserable after a few years even as a provider getting my ass kicked all day ever day. But the idea of urgent care doesn’t sound so bad the older I get. And maybe even staying PRN on the helicopter to get my rocks off.
So depends a lot on location and how much NP experience you have. Last ER job I was making $75/hour plus quarterly bonuses that equated to about $5/hr. Family med/urgent care average is $50-$60/hr with some place also offering productivity bounses ranging $5-$15 per hr.
Ahmed! Thanks for sharing! I have enjoyed watching your videos and learning about being an FNP. Hope you can make more videos! New RN here and going into the ER. Hopefully FNP soon!

Hey man just wanted to know if you are alive and well your last vid was like 2 years ago, are you active on yt??😅😅
Get in some food whenever you get a chance is honestly a wild way to run medicine, and nothing has changed since this video haha
thanks so much!
If you’re the solo provider in a critical access hospital, are you making 200 bucks an hour since you’re doing the identical job of a physician?
Thank you.
Thank you for this
Great vid. Thank you for your help
Why NPs and PAs are most often put on a white coat? I don’t see doctors in white. The answer is misrepresentation of yourself….
I agree experience is valuable, BUT these standards are only for NP’s, what about PA’s that have the closest scope of practice to NPs, do they work as a nurse before becoming PA’s? No, they don’t event have to touch a patient before PA school.
Thanks for sharing the information
What is your nation you looks like Turkish
Hello , can FNPs work in hospitals ?
You can still be good at your job even if you are just doing it for the money.
If you could go back, which specialty would you choose?
Very wrong advice buddy how dare you speak down on online schools you should know better than that
Best NP series on YT
Queria que a enfermagem do Brasil fosse assim :( Aqui esses trabalhos são mais dos medicos
Do rural hospitals pay more?
The NP profession is saturated with on-line diploma mill grads ! Do something else !
Hello thanks for your videos. I am a FNP with over 4 years of experience in primary care. I am interested in urgent care. What are your thoughts? Thanks and have a blessed day.
Bohat khoob mirza sahib
There are too many NP diploma mills. The board of nursing needs to end all online NP programs.
If you want to know less, get paid less and have less respect than MD then become an NP
That's wild. I'm an LPN getting ready to graduate with my ADN. I just got a job offer for 65 /hr.
I’ve been an RN for ~3 years and never got an offer like that! FNP this october
Your voice puts me to sleep. If you’re gonna go as far as making a video, maybe pretend to be excited about the topic!
New grad FNP here, currently looking for my first job. I am located in Columbia SC. Finding a new grad friendly position is so hard. 😳
Thank you for the super informative video! I am also planning to take the exam before my graduation. Could you elaborate on the application process for the board exam? Will the ANCC/AANP give you an eligibility before your final grades are out? I saw on their website that they take unofficial transcripts, so wondering if you can get authorization to take a test with unofficial transcripts without the final grades. Thank you in advance
I have almost 2 years unnemployed. I am unable to find any np jobs. All of them are requiring 3 years of experience. I was rn 7 years, then new fnp. After one year or active search, and travelling to my own expenses to near rural places, i was not hired. I applied to rn roles, but nobody wants to hire me as rn because i was out of hospital 4 years. Most of my time i was rn in public health. I don't know what to do. What can be a switch career for me? I got 3.95 gpa in my msn. I love to learn. I wanted to be a fnp too much. I was a physician in my country and i emigrated with a lot of dreams, but all my efforts are nothing. 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢 i would like to get a dnp or maybe study another career, but i don't have money. I am a failure
Have you considered active duty Air Force or reserves? They need FNPs. Decent salary, educational benefits to get your DNP, good quality of life. Might be worth considering! I believe reservist NPs also get annual bonuses.
@kdom1234 i applied, but i have 50, their age limit is 46, still unnemployed
Are nurse practioners provided with housing benefit?
This is my dilemma. I’m burnt out being an Emergency RN for over 20 years. My pay now is 70/hr (Massachusetts )And we get paid time and a half for overtime, sometimes even double. But I’m exhausted. I’ve thought of going to NP school but scared that I’ll get a huge pay cut plus end up having student loans. What should I do? I tried working in the ICU/medSurg/VNA and hated it 😩
You're making great money! You'll definitely take a paycut as a new grad NP and most likely will not get OT pay as an NP. If you're burnt out and not completely sold on being an NP maybe try transfering to a less busy department and see how you like it
Or try management role
Ha. No kidding. First job make sure have CDM mentoring and teaching. Tell me how I know. ...it sucks otherwise. Excellent video.
Dont let online programs deter you from getting your education. Either way you will still get a job as an NP and before you know it you will have experience and there's nothing that will stop you from your practice. if you already work in a hospital and you get your NP they dont care were you got it, its a good pay bump and a good way to grow as a healthcare worker. All the best.
Thanks ❤
Is it true that you HAVE to work in either the ICU or ER for two years before you apply to NP school? If anything id prefer to work in MedSurg but im not sure id i can work in the ICU or ER for now at least
It is absolutely not true. You need ICU experience for Nurse Anesthesia school, then there are multiple tracts and programs for NP. If you want to do FNP or Adult Primary Care med surge and clinic experience are fine. If you want to do acute care NP, you can still do med surge but depending on what job you want as an NP, you will want some critical care experience
Good to see a new video. Thank you for the advice. Please make more videos for the future NPs
