Nvidia 4080 Super plus Arch Linux and Fedora here. Works fine, your using Rocky Linux which is a pain in the ass in general.
A 4080 Super man that is an awesome card!! Rocky is a pain in the butt and considering that Davinci Resolve Studio is only really supported on Rocky it is a shame for sure, I wish they would add support for PopOS

The problem with DRM is that it can easily be abused and that's exactly what these companies are doing all the time now. They're abusing the hell out of it.

any idea on how to update the firmware and such? i bought one recently and i've been trying to update it to no success
There is a way to do it, you have to install I believe Windows Server 2012 and then you can go to Dell's driver download site and update it that way.
i dont understand how you get that server is it just in cmd or do i have to download i dont really get server stuff
@@familyguy964 I can do a video just on servers if you want to kind of explain it as there was a time when I did not understand it either.
I haven't made the ultimate switch yet, but I do switch back and forth from time to time. So far the best experience I have had was on Fedora 40. (Except for the constant crash notifications I would get and browsers crashing due to the extensions when I would launch them while using VS Code.
@@BufuMeister it is a really hard switch none of the games I like play on it. I kind of see it this way Windows has its place and so does Mac as well as Linux I use all of them everyday and it keeps me on my toes. All enterprise environments will more than likely use Windows so it is good to know it. Fedora is an amazing distro, but I hope someday you will make the ultimate switch but do not feel bad if you do not, as it is good to know all of them. Thanks so much for watching!
I have downloaded the alpha 2 version of the Cosmic desktop for PopOS. It's promising and I might switch from Linux Mint if it makes my work flow smoother. I particularly like the window tiling feature so far but it does need some work.
@@bradleyp3655 sweet!! It is promising for sure and it seems faster! A switch from Linux Mint is huge that is a solid Distro! Tiling is awesome for sure, and I also agree it does need some work, but I think they will get there. Thanks so much for watching!
Nice explanation bro!
linux mint is so overrated, terrible distro
@@VansPebble I am curious what is it that you do not like about Mint?
@@sherrilltechnology That I've been on it for almost a year, it's had constant issues that I have not experienced on any arch based distro. Having to install multiple python packages because Debian / Ubuntu both split python packages instead of keepin them together. Software not working properly because it relies on dependancies that arent installed or up to date on mint. It's just so tiresome.
@@sherrilltechnology Debian-based distros are a particular pain for Python as instead of doing what Python say to and distributing Python as the python package, they split it up into little bits. There have been incidents in the past when Debian maintainers have opened issues on Python's issue tracker about bits of the standard library depending on other bits of the standard library that they didn't, and it breaking the way Debian chopped things up, and then got upset when Python's maintainers have pointed out they never supported chopping things up and it's entirely Debian's fault that things don't work.
Man that is crazy but I do know what you are talking about. I have ran into a few dependency issues but not many.
That could be why Arch is working with Valve to create something more secure and reliable I cannot wait, as I may be moving to Arch at some point
personally, i'm more of an arch person (btw, lmao)... but whatever convinces people to free themselves from the nightmare that is windows is a good thing imo; nice you seem to have a good time on PopOS! :)

I love PopOS it is an incredible Distro!! Your words are very kind and I have had my share of haters but that is ok my videos are not for everyone and thanks so much for the sub it is greatly appreciated!!
Current Pop!_OS user here, I love my OS!
PopOS is amazing til it blows up after updates. Windows is a broken mess, always something wrong, always fixing shit. In Linux *very* few things work to begin with, so not much can break. But if it does break, that's it, you're done.
LOL it for sure does break sometimes but compared to Windows I would much rather deal with Linux!! Thanks so much for the view and comment!!

Very cool video!
Thanks so much Brother and there are probably going to be a few more
I bought several iMACs just like this one and run them off external SSD's. Fast like new again. U don' have to go inside these iMACS to replace the hard drive. Too much works and not worth the time. Used Carbon Copy Cloner to clone to external SSD and boot off it. The only downside is u can't installed any apps and no longer accept updates. Its okay for browsing internet and youtube. Also great for FACETIME. These are the main reasons for getting these old iMACS. I can FACETIME my sister and mom every day. Feel like they are next door. Everyone in my family has an old iMAC specifically for this purpose. Plus they are great in kitchen while cooking up dishes.
@@shrimboi8909 man thanks so much for the comment!! Using them to communicate with family is a very good purpose for them for sure!!
Incorrect: DNS is NOT the only way to resolve names to IPs! (Clue: Local host file!). There are a couple of FREE DNS services that protect your network from connecting to known bad sites/services. I’ll explain for you: A DNS Forwarder, simply re-sends the LAN DNS query, to a DNS Server. A Local DNS Server simply responds directly to the LAN DNS Query. If the info is not in its cache, it then queries the configured “root” DNS, delivers the info to the LAN client and adds it to its cache. But when you hear “I don’t know”, more than once, from the expert, you know you have to seek real expertise somewhere else.
So I went back and watched the video and I noticed that I did not mention the local host file in Windows but they are still DNS queries. The reason I said I do not know is that in PFsense's documentation they were showing to enable both the resolver and forwarder which you cannot do as the firewall will not allow you to do that, so how does a resolver work if it is not enabled that is what I do not know. Thanks so much for watching, and for correcting me!
thanks for sharing, I'll be looking for this machine on marketplace wanting to have a promox installed
@@LabTest-z5l you are very welcome I would highly recommend PCIe cards with NVMe drives for speed
@@sherrilltechnology ok, is this for the boot for promox or for all the vms?
So technically you could use it for both, but you will want to have 2 seperate cards with 2 NVMe drives on each card, this ensures you have redundancy or least a form of it. I actually considered doing this in my server, I am just waiting for prices to come down on the 1TB drives. I am probably going to get either Team Force or Samsung. Maybe a PCIe card like this: www.amazon.com/Adapter-advanced-solution-Controller-Expansion/dp/B07JKH5VTL/ref=sr_1_3?crid=2LX2DVKFA4MRF&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.fKJFxUgm-C-cegdWTXP0PcVkROPnIk_ysWYx_TqQaPFnnlWhAuYDEU85cefE7K3MMsNArqqNYFhNX-tYdQ5XAv0fFDYmx1xNWUUp0C7gBf8DjDFEX62BBmnUyNlpYspsl5gRnHcoacAZlSJWZEaI1QFLtipCQgBWO4mvvW4uLoUP6Kz9Vqs3xHyACc4SBj0GtiwQP8Hn7_-F68ecBIkyjI3La89Gd6BAKqmVXZ3PEwE.f1YybzlUnVptq2dldMWsqnJ_uJI4kG7SgQrY36XM1ck&dib_tag=se&keywords=nvme+pcie+card+dual&qid=1725884842&sprefix=nvme+pcie+card+%2Caps%2C103&sr=8-3 I hope this helps

Endeavor OS is pretty awesome, I ran it on my daily driver for over two years.
I love EndeavourOS it is pretty amazing for sure!!
Great video!!
@@jonl316 thanks so much!! I really appreciate it, and thanks for watching!
All Arch based have a maintenance issue. Sure you can get it working pretty quick, but then getting it set up and working the way you need and keeping it that way takes some time. I have used Arch for a long time, till a game screwed up on Arch thanks to an update. I tried Debian after trying a couple of different Arch based distros, Nobara 40 and they all have the same issue with that game. In Debian is worked perfectly and all the games ran smoothly. I watched a video that showed that Mint was faster in some games, so I may try that on a separate drive.
Very interesting I have had the same experience with Debian games run pretty good and in the case of Detroit Become Human I recorded the first 5 episodes in PopOS and it ran flawless only after it kept crashing in Windows. Arch is a lot of work I will for sure agree with that I like it but I think Debian for me is the way to go. Thanks so much for watching!!
@@sherrilltechnology Just use flatpak for most apps, unless a system type app and Debian is pretty good. The Steam flatpak actually increases mesa to 24.1.1 which is a newer version that comes with Ubuntu or LinuxMint. Now with Arch you are on 24.3.x I have little time to play with the computer and game anymore because of work, family, and fixing up the house/cars so Debian just works as I can just boot, do what I want and not have to play around updating, etc.
I like Flatpak for sure and it works on most systems that is the best part, I do not play games as much as I used to either, TH-cam and family take my time which I am perfectly happy with. I am a lot like you though I like to get on and do what I need to do then get off. Thanks for watching!
What I'd recommend is DumboFab Blu-ray Ripper. It is skilled in removing copy protections and making discs region free. With it, you can easily extract the content out of a Blu-ray (DVD) and save it in popular video format such as MP4, AVI, WMV, MOV, etc which is readable by PC, external hard drive, portable devices and more. You can also make 1:1 Blu-ray copy to BDMV folder/M2TS/MKV losslessly and keep 100% original videos/audios/subtitles within only 5 mins.
You can follow System76 official page to install Davinci Resolve support.system76.com/articles/install-davinci-resolve/
Nice work man..
Thanks so much it has been interesting so far!!
What i can see from the system info, u are using an ancient lts kernel, some of the mentioned problems can come from that. In the software updater's view menu u can check for newer kernels.
I love EndeavourOS. I run it on my desktop, as well as my Surface Pro 6 with the linux surface kernel
A Surface Pro 6 you should do a video on that I would watch that for sure, thanks so much for watching!!?
I tried to like Endeavor. I did. I just… don’t. I prefer vanilla Arch with my own mods. Or Artix even. But Endeavor… eh.
I like EndeavourOS but I have heard a lot about Vanilla Arch.
Don't know how this video ended up in my recommends, but nice to meets ya! Arch Linux user here and I fully endorse EndeavourOS as an alternative to Arch Linux for anyone who just doesn't have the time nor the inclination to DIY their entire system. EndeavourOS is Arch Linux. All packages are pulled directly from the official Arch Linux repositories. The only things that aren't are EndeavourOS specific tools and themes. Welcome to the Arch Linux ecosystem. Please enjoy your stay. I have tested EndeavourOS extensively and it is the only Arch Linux based distro I recommend to new users looking to dip their toe outside the usual Ubuntu or Debian based recommendations everyone always gets. It is superior to Manjaro in that no updates are held back for "testing". Once an update is live on the Arch repos, it's available for EndeavourOS users. This means updated AUR packages that expect new/updated dependencies won't break because those dependency updates aren't being held back.
Hello and thanks so much!! Endeavor seems to be very stable and I love it as things just work!! Arch is pretty sweet even though I have said that Mint is good as well and it is, but I think there is something special about the feel of Arch, thanks so much for watching!!
Bootleg Arch, nuff said.

I've been intrigued by archcraft. All prettied up openbox/bspwm ? Focused on being light ? For many folks that might hit the spot !
@@cmdrDiscoCat Doesn't take much to install arch and pull those config files to your home dir. Arcolinux might be a better idea if you insist on pre-configured wms.
@@oguzhan001 Oh, I know. But it's nice to have a decent starting point already thought out by folks who are used to configuring those wm.
Well, that is the point about linux. If one distro doesn't work for your needs, either try to make it work move to another distro.

I resuscitated my 2013 MacBook Air with Mint. I love this thing. Apple killed it by dropping support for it and then making all their apps no longer work with the only version of MacOS that it could run. I'm so happy I can use this thing again.
Linux can revive almost any desktop or laptop PC, and that is a very awesome thing, it is amazing to me that Apple builds their computers to last for a very long time but support for their OS does not. Thanks so much for watching and thanks for the comment!
