Love this podcast, such great informed discussion. One little piece of constructive comment- when discussing card artwork, could you make sure you mention the name of the card and give an alt-text style description, just for us podcast listeners? I think it would help give context to the discussion. Keep up the good work!

I worry that if they do anything to curb Japanese box resellers, it will affect average buyers more than resellers. A discussion I wanted to hear is whether you think the demand for Japanese card internationally is organic and long lasting. Resellers won't carry as much Japanese cards if aren't in demand. With regards to the Mew card, I'd prefer event exclusive cards to instead be stamped or serialized. The unstamped version can be released as a card in a set or a box promo.

Good listen Primal not having the tabs preloaded I agree that TPCi doesnt care about the shipping or material of the boxes. It is all about how it looks on the shelf. Mew collectors are effed. RIP Kardiax LOts of great cards in BP. I agree that if you dont like this set you really dont like Pokemon

Great episode! I especially loved the segment talking about reaching out to fellow collectors and engaging in the space. I'm someone who can really relate and work on that, and I'm sure I'm not alone. And even though we're a niche part of the collecting space, there's a lot of us out there. I think we're just not as loud as the other groups. But no group can match our passion!!

This is very enjoyable. I agree with all you both say. I wish TPCi would listen and learn. They're pissing off a lot of people and leaving most faithful collectors with a vile, sour taste in their mouth.

LFG!!!! just finished watching lugias card show pick up and now blessed with podcast with the goats Jluv and Lugia. I got pre orders in for english journey together already im excited for this set, i wonder what the trainer SAR's will look like. I grabbed that meowth/wooper promos needed them for the AR binder. I just checked out the artist Uninori and did a SAR the raging bolt in TF, such a dope artist i love the 90's vibe.

Listening to this now is funny after the hype of Surging Sparks and heading into Prismatic Evolutions.

I will say for me the texturing of the pokeballs and masterballs make it comparable to IRs. Coming from a yugioh ultimate rare collector from the 2000’s it’s the perfect “bling” element that now makes me care about the main set artists and makes opening boxes SO fun

When you guys were talking about that card that you can get an "edge" on because you're in the know about it, I think the Worlds Yokohama Pikachu is that card for me. It's tied to the only Worlds to have ever happened so far in Japan, it's Japanese exclusive and it's genuinely an amazing looking card.

I really enjoy the faceted Gem cut style of the pokemon themselves, but the crowns are wack.

Very fun discussion, thank you both for the episode. As a (I guess niche) collector it's becoming harder and harder to navigate the content space to find like-minded people. I hope that it doesn't turn away newcomers, because there's so much to love and enjoy here despite the hectic climate we've had the last few years. It might not be the most healthy way of going about it, the "us and them" mentality to group up with only one part, and I do try to not see or use it as such, but it's hard to ignore sometimes. Take care of yourselves, Primal, JLUV, and everyone else. Merry Christmas to all of you! :-)

In my opinion, the reason they haven't done a separate Eevee set is that they NEED to promote the new Pokémon otherwise they won't continue the generational aspect of Pokémon. Current kids need to see the Pokémon they grow up playing with in these sets. BUT a set with only those Pokémon would hardly sell to the stonkers/older fans at all. They need both. Edit: JLUV briefly mentioned it 🙂

35:10 I don't think a lot of Megas were good in the TCG either. I think they are just as successful as the Tera Pokemon. Remember the Mega Evolution Rule in the TCG caused you to end your turn if you Mega Evolved your Pokemon EX. That made them sitting ducks unless you equipped its respective Spirit Link tool in order to bypass that rule.
