"Touta" | Yasmine Student Company | Virtual COVID-19 Bellydance Performance
Yasmine Student Company began learning this choreography in January 2020, in preparation for Saffron Dance's annual June show, "Casbah."
Then COVID-19 hit, and all of our plans here at the studio were thrown into a state of uncertainty.
First, we transitioned to virtual classes, hoping that this would be a temporary solution and that all would return to normal in time for the show.
But of course, that wasn't how it turned out.
When it became clear that a June show would not be possible under the precautions of social distancing, Elena gave her students the option of filming themselves to create a video "show." Elena hated the idea of all of the students' hard work going to waste, especially since they were relatively new to the studio and "Casbah" would have been their biggest show yet.
The students bravely agreed to film themselves in full costume and makeup - not an easy task! There were practice runs, dress rehearsals, and lots of time spent transitioning the "stage formations" to "video formations."
We hope you enjoy this labor of love and that it brightens your day!

Admittedly I had my doubts about a belly dance to a Christmas song but this was actually a lot of fun. Loved the energy and happiness she showed on stage.
I am not one to make comments on youtube, but I am making an exception for this. OUTSTANDING! I truly enjoyed watching this. It made me smile and your energy is contagious. This is what performing is all about! You RAK! Beautiful!
