A trip down memory lane to Summer 1994 and my Honda CBR400RR Tri Arm, recorded on a Sony Hi8 Camcorder strapped to a tank bag with a bungee, the video quality is awful, even with the image stabilisation of the day, and the sound is even worse 🗯😂 How things have changed, get your ear plugs and join me for a blast from the past around some country lanes back in the UK 👊✊

Honda Africa Twin XRV650 Ride & Chat
มุมมอง 10K2 ปีที่แล้ว
Riding some really nice twisty roads whilst discussing what I intend to do to the Honda Africa Twin XRV650 RD03 that was built by HRC in the late 1980s, this motorcycle defined the original 'Adventure Bike' and has become a bit of a cult classic with links to the Paris Dakar rally in its glorious heyday, but it still makes a great 'Big Trailie' bike that is an extremely capable all-rounder, not...
Beta Techno 250 - First Ride on a Trials Bike!
มุมมอง 9K2 ปีที่แล้ว
My first ever ride on a trials bike, this vintage 2-stroke Beta Techno is the latest addition to my Barn of Bikes and turns out to be great fun, if a little different to anything I've ever ridden before. It looks like it's going to be the perfect Moto for pottering around the woods in peace and (relative) quiet, and who knows, one day I might even do some actual Trials on it, watch this space 😜
Friendly Humane Mousetraps Mouse Trap
มุมมอง 112 ปีที่แล้ว
I have tried a few friendly mousetraps over the years, these are the two I now use with great results. Just remember to check the traps regularly and let the little mice go free a long way from home, a couple of miles or so at least! I make a nest in a large bin with some straw, food and water so I can keep them for a couple of days, letting them out when I have caught a few so they are not all...

Bonjour Quelle est l’autonomie en ballade ? Merci.
Je ne sais pas, je fais le plein et je roule quelques heures sans problème 👍
well done!!
what kind of motor stand are you using?
It's an ABBA Sky lift 👍

Is this the cdi box as i need to locate mine on my 2014 street triple
Great video. I bought one in December to restore… spent far more than I ever imagined on parts etc but I plan to keep it forever so it’s fairly irrelevant. Frame has been painted to keep original colour & it’ll have all new bearings etc… I can’t wait to get it up & running.
Nice one! I recently finished the restoration work on mine - maybe I'll even get some videos online at some point - and yes it cost a lot to get it back to the condition it deserves, but it just took me to the Sahara and back without a single problem, and I'll keep it forever too! The work I did will outlive me, these bikes are amazing, especially once sorted, I hope you enjoy yours as much as I do mine 😉
@@moto_biker that’s exactly where I want to take my one! Very jealous 😁 Thank you, I’m sure I’ll love it once built. Please do put up some videos of it, I’d love to see it all freshened up
how do i know if i need to change the sprag?
If the sprag has stopped working it will sound like the engine is tearing itself apart when you try to start the bike, it really does sound bad and the bike won't start unless it catches for a moment and spins the motor. If it is on the way out you may get some odd mechanical knocking noises coming from the crankcase when starting or stopping the engine... Never try to start these bikes with a weak battery!
@@moto_biker OKey thank you! is it worth the money to change the battery and cables to prevent problem with it?
@@mrconta in my opinion yes, many people upgrade the battery to a more powerful one before doing anything else, but if the sprag is already worn it may not be a complete cure. Worth doing anyway though...
Hello from California. You have beautiful scenery. Would you happen to know the fuel/oil mix ratio for that bike? I got a 1997 and can't find any info. Thank you for any and all help.
Hello there, the owners manual recommends a mixture of 1.5% when using synthetic 2-stroke oil or 4% when using mineral 2-stroke oil, I hope this helps 🙂
@moto_biker oh OK, that's great thank you!
Too bad this RD03 is in such a bad shape. RPM Needle never moves. Temperature gauge bounces op and down. A pity really. This first generation of Africa Twin is the best version of the original series. It is nimble and relatively light. The later 750's got heavy, bulky and are neither as beautiful or simple to maintain as the RD03. RD07a is a nightmare (the carbs especially, way too complex for what it needs to be).
She's old and gets well used, that's for sure! I bought it in rough condition a few years ago and did some basic work to make it a good reliable bike, since then Ive been slowly getting parts for the big rebuild. One of my favourite bikes in my collection, should have it back in perfect mechanical condition later this year 😉
Have you rode it yet not now but before the winter 🥶
YES! A bit delayed after I found a tiny leak in the oil reservoir that needed fixing, but I had a couple of fantastic rides late summer, really great to get out on it again 🙂
Loud cans can be life savers. People shouldn't be so sensitive about that 😂 I've got a 2004 RSV 1000R Factory, very low miles and mint. But won't turn over right now. Electrics on, primes, but nothing. Battery is fine, sits on a tender. Most likely culprit is the starter solenoid. Any thoughts though?
Hmmm, could be the actual starter motor or starter motor cables, I upgraded both on mine, hope it's just the solenoid... 🤞
I enjoyed watching buddy. I own a Edwards.
Waste of a super bike !!!! Leaving it in a barn !!! 10yars ago you coulis’s of risen it now your too old to appreciate it !! Wtf were you thinking leaving it like that ….
I agree! I couldn't afford to sort it out back then, and I have another almost identical one so I had my RSV fun whenever I needed a blast. At least the Haga was 'preserved' whilst it was in the barn 😆
My 2008 street has this problem.Intermittent starting and the engine occasionally cuts during riding.....highly dangerous! The connector looks OK so I am thinking it may be that the barrel itself is worn inside.
The previous owner thought it was the barrel too and had a new one fitted by Triumph, which half solved the problem (thanks to the new connector on the barrel side?) but then it came back the day I purchased the bike! My connector also looked OK but it was causing the problem, I bypassed the connector for the wires in question and I haven't had the problem since... But you may want to look into it further, it might be your barrel causing the problem 🤨
@@moto_biker I just had a look at the connector and I jiggled the brown wire with the ignition turned on and the dash was showing a very slight flicker so I am just about to start the bypass procedure.Hopefully it will save me £170 for a new barrel!
@@eskertoo On mine (which is a French version) it was the brown wire on the 'rear' of the connector that I connected to the white wire on the 'front' of the connector which goes up to the barrel, hope you get it sorted 👍
And? @@eskertoo
what is your instagram?

Hey mate..the sprag has gone on mine also...enjoyed your video so i think im gonna have a go at it myself...where can i purchase that crank lock tool.ive looked for it online. Thanks Callum
Thanks for your comments, it's a pain but well worth doing it yourself if you can. I got the TDC locking tool from AF1 Racing in the US, you can make your own tool too, there is a fair amount of info on the aprilia forums out there... I can't believe the price of these now but if you want the actual tool: www.af1racing.com/af1-ap0240880-100-top-dead-center-lockscrew-for-all-v990-af1-ap0240880-100
The sound is excellent!! 💯
Wow, what a beautiful place! Looks like a fun bike too.
Très belle Beta pour son âge, félicitations!
I know exactly what you have felt it's magical when you bring a rotax v990 back to life can't wait to see you ride it again bet your glad you kept it all those years .
It certainly is magical, and yes, I'm really pleased I kept it! Hope to have a ride video soon 😉
@@moto_biker I assume your in France somewhere nice roads but last time I went they started putting there cameras rear facing and we all got speeding fines on our aprilias
@@captbarb6642 Yes mate, I moved to France in 2002 mainly for the roads, they are not what they were back then but there are still some incredible places to ride exactly as I did back then, but you do need to be far more careful. Sorry you got fined, I got pulled by an unmarked bike for taking a "racing" apex (on the RSV)???, that cost me a €25 fine! 😡😂
Love the video, cant wait to see more of this bike
Thank you! I have a little problem with the oil reservoir leaking a tiny bit of oil, that's being fixed, new tyres are on the way and then I'll hit the road which is what the bike was built for 😉
J'ai le n°63❤
Super, vous avez la soeur à la mienne 😊👍
Nice bike nice footage I've helped do a sprag on a racing tuono before have you completed it now . Maybe you should change that clutch release bearing whilst your pulling covers off.
Sorry @captbarb6642, didn't see your message before! I didn't do the clutch release bearing as I've had no probs with the clutch, thanks 😉
Being born in 1996, i never got to ride in these times but wow i can see why so many are reminiscent of the 90s! Quiet roads and characterful little cars that you dont see much of anymore! Great video 👌
Yes, it was a great time for bikes back then, when I meet up with old friends we often talk about the things we got up to in our youth, things that would not be possible now! Thank you for your comments 🙂
Wheels are ANODISED like you said and are meant to be slightly matt in appearance.
Yeah, they look SO much better when really clean though 😉
@@moto_biker Get a clay bar from an auto supply store.
@@kiztime1234 Thanks for that, I'd never heard of it but just looked it up, seems like a good solution for the future 👍
Hi! I have the same problem. :-( What was the solution in your case?
It is easy to fix, I bypassed the block connector and joined the wires directly, I will have a look to see which of the wires were causing the problem and will get back to you 👍
Do you have a video off it?@@moto_biker
@@dwaynthomassen4207 Yes, I have a video somewhere, I'll try to find it when I get a chance 👍
Hi. Do you have an update video ? How is she today? Regards
Sorry, no update yet, I have some other bikes I want to get finished first, the AT is long term 🙂
Congrats on the succesfull repair :-) WHere is the smoke comming from though ? (hahaha the neighbor lady :-D)
Thanks! The smoke will mainly be from WD40 burning off as the engine and exhaust warm up, I sprayed plenty of it all over the metal parts whilst the bike sat in the barn to help avoid corrosion and bolts seizing in place 🙂
@@moto_biker quite a relief to know that it is just wd40 !
This video made me very happy, I have the engine out of my 02 and I can’t wait to have that feeling again❤
Such a good feeling when you hear that RSV noise, I hope you get it running again soon!
👌
Ahh the 90's.. good ole days. Thanks for the upload.
Mille Best !!❤❤
Hello mate, great video firstly. I have changed my sprag clutch, following your video, but now it won't start, code 11 & 12, cam/cranksensor, would you be able to tell me where is it, pls.
Thank you very much, the crankshaft sensor is inside the alternator cover, check the cable/ connection coming from the top of the alternator cover to the white barrel connector between the cylinders. The camshaft sensor is under the front valve cover, check the cable/ connection coming from the back of the front valve cover under the throttle body. I read on a forum the starter solenoid can cause the issue you are having too, good luck and I hope you sort it out without having to take the alternator cover off again!
@@moto_biker thanks for the reply mate, will look into it tomorrow... 🤙
Any update?
how much do one of these go for in todays day?
In France you can pick a well used one up for around €3000, nice ones go for much more though...
Merci pour votre vidéo, bonjour 👏😊

Your laugh says it all… probably need to get a trials bike now! Would like to see what you think after riding it more.
It is great fun, get one! I haven't had as much time on it as I'd have liked, I'll be putting a video up about that in the new year...
Great riding! How much is your average consumption per 100 km? Tnx
Thanks! No idea how much fuel it uses, I just fill it up and go ;)
That bike looks imaculate not seen one that clean for about 20 years
One of the bonuses of living in France you can ride offroad without grief, mostly. Now looking at getting the same bike.
At least for the time being... I'm really enjoying the Beta as an introduction to trials fun, it's so much more capable than me 👍
Used to love pottering about in the woods on my 250 gas gas, had mud, wet leaves, fallen trees, plenty of low hanging trees to duck under and steep disused railway embankments nearby. Sold it to help fund a road bike,,,,want another one now...
