The guy talking in this video. is not the guy in the camra. Also theres a alot of things (the guy chatting) should have explored and researched a bard. He's just running around. EQ is a very good game. I did the beta and live to 2015. Bards gets (1) song per lv. Bards are awsome, but maybe before you make another game vid you should do a bit of research than make a plausible game vid. My apologies for the negative review but this vid is very boring and slow and honestly not a fair representation of the game !!!!!!!!

Played EverQuest from 2001 Kunark till after the Omens Of War Expansion. Returned recently last week but for EverQuest2, But I wonder do they delete character accounts which are older than 10 years old? BUT as a side note when I first logged into EverQuest2 I got lots and lots of Veteran rewards and I got 2 free character creation slows in addition to the 2 standard slots which already come with the game, so I started with 4 character slots, cool I don't have to pay for the monthly for addition character slots. Question? Back in the old days when you're Guild raid wiped are Necro's making crap load of money to summon bodies? I remember back in the days I got plenty of coin summoning bodies for players who either couldn't locate their body or couldn't enter a dungeon to get it. Also, the crafting system for making armor and especially food was the best I had ever seen. The thing I hated the most about EverQuest was the auction house. You were forced to leave your character logged online in order to sell merchandise.

I played Everquest for 17 + years, played it through so many changes the biggest of which was when they dumbed it down in order to compete with world of Warcraft EverQuest was hard, I mean it was really freaking hard because they didn't tell you what to do next and which step to take and which zone to run to and where the maab you wanted were, he had to actually figure that shit out it was not meant for the one hour after work casual player I have to comment on the scene near the end of the video when you are a bit whiny about being killed by a Drake. The draken question was a red con to you indicating that unless you were exceptionally skilled or you were twink doubt you most likely we're going to die in that fight the game clearly lets you know you're probably going to die so don't understand you being upset because you, ..... died. IMHO dumbing-down the game in order to compete with world of Warcraft players what's the worst thing EverQuest ever did. The two games were never intended for the same class of player.

Hey @grincainn It's been 3 months since this video. What happend to your Everquest plans and adventures? I'm curious how you're liking it now and maybe even jumped on the new server that started last week.

Taking away the racial starting areas & adding mercs ruined the game years ago.

Great video. I cannot wait for the new engine/truck sounds SCS recorded. I sure hope they are better than what is currently in game.

I will say If Holly Longdale came from EverQuest/EverQuest II to WoW then it's not gonna stop other EQ and EQ2 Employees from doing so.

doing the starting quest area and loading into a home city with zero players ... zero fun .I did not realize till recently the hell lvls of old i forget they were like 5 ,15,25,35 ect were so useful in keeping the community together for longer. Now we see max lvl guilds in a week or less on new servers it seems.

I just uninstalled after getting nostalgic and reloading it, starting brand new. They have definitely made positive changes in the game, but it's not very good anymore for someone like me. Still an unbelievable time sink. I would say the game is good for what it is, but it's also so antiquated. Way back in the day it took me a month of exp in Velks Labyrinth to go from 54-55 on my monk, and that was me playing every day. I do and don't miss it, but I'm glad I went back in and realized it just isn't what it once was for me. Still, I had a lot of fun in EQ and EQ2. Lots of memories.

When I first loaded EverQuest, in 99 (I started a month or so after launch) I was dropped into a city saw people running around, fighting beetles etc saw text warning of Flippy darkpaw and I went to see what that was about and got killed. Didn't have any equipment and didn't know what to do, was like "this game is dumb" and turned it off. A few days later, I loaded a new character, figured some things out and got hooked. Played all the way to level 60 in the kunark expansion till I finally gave it up because it was taking up too much of my life lol

P99 classic EQ is a much better game

As an old school bard who played from launch until 2010... I would love to take this guy to E, Karana and show him how to solo the entire zone.

FWIW, if you do the tutorial quest that makes you talk to all the NPCs in the starting hub, you will be soulbound to the NPC there in case you die.

You get information on your spell if you hold down right click over the spell in the spell book, tells you what it does, roughly. Also, you were popping back up in that spider tamer fight because you were regenerating health quicker than you were being hit by him, so you went below 0 hp, fell unconscious, regenerated health back above 0, popped back up, over and over, this is rare at higher and higher levels.

Bards have a kick skill, a button you mash every 7 seconds. Adds a little damage. Not super exciting, something to click occasionally. The big bard thing is their songs. There are so many songs, with so many abilities. You get at least one new song per level. By level 10 you have a nice variety of songs and utility (with many more as you level). There is some overlap with new songs, but you won’t see that for a while. Songs cast in 3 seconds, and can be cast while moving. Bards are the only class in the game that can cast while moving, this is critical later on. Songs are perpetual as long as your character is not interrupted. If you stop singing a song, its effect stays active for 16 seconds. Herein lies the first bard thing to learn. If you sing one song (3 second cast), then immediately stop, the song stays active for 16 more seconds. So, immediately start singing another song (3 second cast). Now you have two songs running. Stop singing that second song and start a third, you are now introducing a third effect while the first two are still running, even though they are starting to time out. With practice, you can have 4 songs running simultaneously. This is called “twisting”, and is the one skill all bards must master. A good twisty bard is insanely powerful. Most songs are ‘area-effect’, which means everything within a small radius around the bard is affected. If your heal song is running, all your group mates are healed as long as they are near you. Same for damage songs. One of the most overpowered bard abilities is to gather dozens of monsters into a small area and sing a damage song that hits them all at once. Very few area-effect spells in the game hit unlimited targets, but almost all bard songs do. To make things more interesting, you can amplify a song’s effect by using instruments. So, a song that does 8 damage every 6 seconds can do double damage with an instrument. Your heal song, attack song, buff song, etc, all amplified with instruments. This adds another dimension to bards. Bards sitting there just auto attacking is a complete waste of what they can do.

Hiring an NPC mercenary to help is crucial for new players. The tutorial has a quest that introduces the player to systems such as the mercenary system. A healer merc is nice. But a tank merc even for players who picked a tank class is excellent at tank mercs have amazing hitpoint regen and it scales really well. Two years ago I played a necromancer from level 1 with a tank merc and got to around lvl 75 before I started needing help.

Swashbuckler was the most fun melee class I ever tried in everquest 2.
