Nice review! Don’t worry about a game where you feel doomed from the beginning. It was your first game, after all. The more you play the better you get at knowing how to overcome such things. You can increase your chances of success overall, and in overcoming really bad starts. One thing, in general, that helps me is to remember that I don’t always have to try to do so much in any given turn. Saving time from one turn adds to the next letting you buy better cards, and have a bigger hand to play.

This is a fantastic solo game, probably one of the best out there for its type. So much fun to play through them and combine the different cassettes to mix up your missions and they are a great challenge to play through. We are pleased to be able to have this one in our store in the UK and has been great fun showing people the game.

Hey guys, as usual I found kind, respectful and intelligent people talking about boardgames. I love your top ten. It's always a pleasure to see those analyses about those wonderful peace of modern games (and art). If I may, I would bring and argue about the games I love. My top 3 : Dany. Dany is a wonderful party game, in wich you have your own identity among two (a Dany, or the voices in his head). You have to suggest written words to your mates with beautiful black and white cards. And of course, Dany has to disturb that without being discovered. It's a bit like Dixit but with way way more tension and aesthetic. The cards are amazing, the words are proposed by the game so you don't have to think about what you are gonna propose like it's often the case in Dixit. Pure genius and simplicity. My top 2 : Scarface 1920 : it's a huge "Kickstarter and the likes" where you take control of a mob boss in the Chicago of the 1920s and you have to earn as much money as you can while bothering the other players. It's a very beautiful and complete game. There is a lot of different mecanics (deckbuilding, worker placement, area control, dashboard management, etc.) but instead of a huge nonsense game, it's a perfectly harmonic and aesthetic gameplay. The game is long but not that much when you know a bit about it. The choices you make are decisive among the insane variety of actions you can take. Everything fits so well, everything "nests" and the visual aspect is both beautiful and funny/caricatured. The immersion is constant. I recommend it, not because I love it (so so much) but also because it's the most perfect example of a "total game" in wich each part is well incorporated in the whole. My top 1 : Rising sun. How to describe the intensity, the vibration... A big game, sure, but so simple, so fluid and so ingeniously articulated. This game is no doubt for me the best game I ever played for this first reason : the relation beetwen the theme and the mecanics. No game have accomplished that point of perfection when the theme (Medieval fantastic Japan) IS the mecanics. The mecanics reflect perfectly what this game should be and the form of it. It's an area control game where you have to take over Japan. But the ways of winning are so different. You can win in the tragic honor of sacrifice like in the odacity of military organisation. You can convoke the gods or be the dishonored "Oni recruiter". The relations between players are central because it's also a alliance game when you can (of course) betray your allie, discuss with others along the game, starting with the "Ceremony of tea". The components are not beautiful. They are gorgeous. The purity of the components and the clarity of the rules make the game easy to learn and play even so it's for long games. Also, I should add that the game is my favorite because every political action you take decides direct actions for the others. No one is passive, everyone is constantly alert. Finally, the tension brought by the economic aspect wich decides more or less the result of war is perfectly made. Indeed, each combat is a bet between a secured victory, the sacred sacrifice for honor, and the bait and the deny of cruelty. Just perfection. Thank you guys and sorry for this clumsy english
