We bought our 2024 Prime knowing full well there was not a spare tire. We've driven it 6,000+Km (3,750+m), now on LESS than 1.5 tanks of gas. Our best EV range to date (after 4 months), was 91Km (56.87m), and with 6% SOC left. This is why we went with the car sans a spare. Almost all of our motoring is in urban areas. So, the lack of a spare isn't a huge issue. But, that Tire Repair Kit is useless if a sidewall is damaged when your on a road trip. Where we live, one can find themself(s), a long way from "a tire shop", think about 100 miles to be honest. Find one open at 1 AM, no that's impossible. So, now, a tow-truck gets involved, and, you'll be searching for a hotel. And if by some miracle, there was one, they are certainly CERTAINLY, not going to stock a 195-50-19 or, a 195-60-17 (our size), and would need to order one from several thousands of miles away. If your lucky, the hotel has a pool as by then your going to need to "cool" down. So, we're sourcing a set of winter 215-60-16's and matching rims (the difference in diameter is very small, so almost zero Speedo issues). On any road trips we'll toss a "loose" spare in the hatch. Toyota can furnish a Spare Tire Kit for the Prius. It consists of a full size tire and rim, a jack & lug wrench, modified foam inserts and, a protective steel plate to cover the electrical junction that sits in the wheel well. There's already a bolt-hole in place to allow fastening of the wheel and the Kit includes the "winged" bolt. I think it costs $1,300 CAD, not cheap but neither are tow-trucks and hotels. Alas, that kit is not compatible with the Prime model. There's just no room under the hatch floor due to the 13.6kw battery.

I'm not ON 84, I AM 84 (okay, 72...😆). And being 72 and being a competent person I can still change a tire...at night, in the snow. Here's my gripe. DEALERS!!!!!! Worthless!!!! I love my new Econoghini, but even Lamborghinis come with spares. And to top that, it turns out the owners manual details an optional spare!!!! Which I didn't know about and neither did said worthless dealer! WD parts guy told me he couldn't order it even though it was in the manual! Because it wasn't there, it's not supposed to be!!! Dealers are a government artifact and manufacturers MUST use them. Worthless.
