I love these videos with tips like this because its like “to paint it like marble, paint a marble pattern” and its like geez no kidding?

@@Corlhorlfan1235 that is Nocturne Green by Citadel :)
Most often I watch these tutorial videos as a template for whatever models I'm painting and I always get to a part where I say "well I'm not trying that." This whole scheme delights me though and I'm definitely going to be trying all of that. Keep'em coming, you got a sub from me at 6.03k, here's to pushing 10k and beyond
@@Falcon31kc thanks so much for the support :) really glad you found this tutorial useful. To be honest I’ve only been back into painting since June of 2018 so I’m still learning heaps. My goal with the channel has always been to help others, and I really didn’t think it’d reach as far as it has so I’m very grateful for that. Definitely going to keep it up and lately I’ve been aiming for at least one new tutorial per week :)
Do you think it could work on a Mephiston red primer and work toward different shade of white?
@@TerryDaigle-y5p I think that could work. So long as you’re blending the colours up gradually I think it would definitely work :)
@ dude you got me into ONE HELL OF A PROJECT. Thank you, AMAZING WORK. <3
This interests me for Horus Heresy Death Guard...
@@MLaak86 would work very well :)
@@DuskTilDawnpainting I think so, especially on Command Squad shields
Once I get the cash I'll be investing in all the metallic series sets from Scale 75.
They’re absolutely worth it. Still some of the best if not the best metallics I’ve used, especially for coverage and unique appearance compared to other metallics. I just think they look more natural and less sort of ‘sparkly’
@@DuskTilDawnpainting I've really enjoyed Decayed Metal and a consistent set of metallics is definitely needed.
@@MLaak86 just wanted to mention as well, I purchased the copper, steel and gold series sets by scale 75 at least 3 years ago and they’re all still there and in good condition. The alchemy colours in each set are also really useful for different styles of metal eg. Peridot style metal, amethyst etc. If you check out my Alien Bases tutorial and my Aurora space marines tutorials you’ll be able to see some of them used there :)
@@DuskTilDawnpainting That's great to hear. Just been racking my brains a bit on a consistent range I can use with relative ease for metallics - especially since I'm gonna be moving into starting an Old World army next year as well as 3D printed terrain.
Another phenomenal paint tutorial! Sword looks gorgeous. Would work well with Necron weapons too
@@wpb5876 thanks so much :)
Love your vids man, do you prime your models with mechanicus standard grey or do you paint the parts you want with it?
@@BigBlob7 glad to hear :) I undercoat my Ultramarines with Mechanicus Standard Grey spray. I always use primers for my miniatures but the exact primer depends on the project
Stellar job! Do you post photos of your work on Instagram or anything?
@@Aztechnology. thank you :) yes I did. It’s a few posts back on my Instagram
This looks amazing, perfect for my temple themed bases for my hedonites of slaanesh, thank you for the tutorial
Great work man ☺☺
This is amazing! gonna try this on the Stormcast bois!
Looks fantastic thank you for giving it a go! Could you recommend anything if I wanted to go for a slightly darker green? Would you just use a darker green the the initial layer?
@@BigBlob7 hmm perhaps doing it sort of backwards to this tutorial, and instead of Caliban green veins you could do the sybarite green and gauss blaster green mix of veins with the forest green and Ulthuan grey vein? I’d like to do a tutorial on a dark green one someday too
@@DuskTilDawnpainting Ah nice I'll have a go at that sometime, looking forward to the dark green as well!

WARHAMMER WAERHAMMER WARHAMMER 40KKKKKKKISHGF UEFGHF YHYS
Not bad - however, marble has a kind of 'cloudy' texture to it as well; by adding that, preferably around the centers of the veins as very thin glazes, you can get that effect, especially if you use thinner medium or something similar to avoid tide marks. Also, regarding the veins: I like to think of them as a mass of Y's stretched out, often quite long in the marble. Add a couple of X's as well and the pattern is done.
@@Kojak0 thanks for the tips :) I’ve gradually started including more glazes (I just finished filming a second tutorial on a green marble shield that I’ll try to upload next week) and I agree. I think my main concern with adding those details for the first time around with the white marble in this tutorial was that it was going to look too busy with all of the other details, but I think some light glazes of dawnstone and even a darker grey would have added a lot. Always appreciate feedback, as to be honest I am still learning myself :)
Nice job!
Does painting that pattern with the shield give that effect or did you just decided not to use spray paint?
@@MemeWazowski I used mechanicus standard grey for the undercoat which is why it probably still looks like plastic :) I put the colours I used in the description. I also have this as a longer tutorial on my channel if you want to have a look
@@DuskTilDawnpaintingI’m getting into dark angels soon, definitely saving this tutorial for when I do. Thank you!
Love these! Going to try your purple sword soon. Do you reckon you could do a black or green marble please?
@@BigBlob7 I’ll definitely be doing black marble for one of my bladeguard veterans, and green sounds like a cool idea too :)
@@BigBlob7 just finished filming a green marble shield :) thanks for the idea. I’ll aim to upload it this coming week
@@DuskTilDawnpainting Excellent I cant wait! Will probably try it on my custodians, have a shadow keeper with green instead of red vibe
Green marble shield tutorial is up :)
I really like the orange before the last mephiston red and lahmian medium - thinking of doing my Tau that way with black undercoat and tint, and main orange on top. Would you recommend rather going with white undercoat, when I still want a black tint, such as the handle underneath the gun in the front at 4:50?
@@Radenshaal the simplest recommendation I have for painting predominately vibrant, bright colours for a colour scheme is definitely to undercoat with white or something similarly brighter like wraithbone or Grey Seer undercoat. The main thing to consider though is if you do undercoat with these but especially white, that it’s important to consider sub-assembly when painting your minis. Often times it’s hard to reach in to the deeper recesses of a miniature when it’s fully assembled (have learnt this through my own experiences) and undercoated white, whereas black undercoat has the benefit of creating a deep shadow for those recesses if you can’t reach your brush to those points. But overall, if your scheme is going to mostly be vibrant colours, absolutely go with a brighter undercoat :)
@@DuskTilDawnpainting That makes sense. I've never painted before, since this is my first time collecting, and pethaps it's better to flip my scheme going, mostly black with orange tint, and then flip the scheme for commander farsight so that he stands out as the bright figure with orange as a main color. Probably easier for a first time painter?
@@Radenshaal that sounds like a good idea :) everyone is different but I found working with darker colours at first a lot easier than vibrant colours. But regardless, it’s all good practice, so definitely go with what you want to do :)
dang that is so cool. thanks for the guide on this.
@@tien65 thanks for watching :)
This is handy been painting a bladeguard and was thinking the plain white shield was bit meh. Would like to see a gold nmm tutorial 🙏.
@@N00b_Bot thanks for watching :) if I’m being honest I still have a lot of practice to go into non-metallic metals in general before I can do a tutorial on them, but I hope to improve on them soon to a point where I’d be happy doing a tutorial :)
@DuskTilDawnpainting no worries, even a vid showing the trials and learnings is good. Not everything has to be polished golden demon worthy painting ability. Sometimes it's more helpful for people learning to see why something didn't work so you know what to avoid yourself. Cheers.
@@N00b_Bot that’s very true. I’ll keep that in mind :)
These are incredible. I do marble bases for my 30k Blood Angels, but I'm going to have to do this for the shields of my 40k Blood Angels. Absolutely fantastic.
@@baboubortmandu glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for the kind words :) marble bases sounds very cool too!
Looks amazing! What kind of brush are you using in that first step?
@@wpb5876 that is a no named brush I got off of eBay :) it’s brand new as of this video application which is why it’s holding a good point 😅 however I recommend cheap nylon brushes if you’re on a budget for all shading and even most base coating of large areas of a model, then I save my Raphael brush range for finer details so that they last longer. You can find 8-12 packs and all different sizes of Nylon Brushes on eBay, Amazon etc
