BATTERY BOX for REVEAL TACTACAM Trail Camera
มุมมอง 1.4K11 หลายเดือนก่อน
Tactacam's Reveal cell cameras are fantastic for watching the farm all year long. We now have seven of them, Darron buys the cameras and I pay for the data plan. One of the keys to getting good info is staying out of the woods, that includes time spent changing batteries. Darron rigged up battery boxes for all of the cameras which allows a mostly stink free approach to managing our cameras. Lin...

    I have batteries in there and this exact set up thanx to you guys. My question is does this become the primary source and if the batteries dies ( tray batteries ) does the battery box take over or does the ammo automatically become the primary cause no way my camera is dead in a week and wondering why

    • @derekdB
      @derekdB 21 วันที่ผ่านมา

      The big battery becomes the primary battery as soon as it's hooked up from what we've experienced. Make sure the batteries are completely charged up before putting them out. The batteries should last for months at a time, check the connections to the camera and battery, we've had those come loose

      It's not very loud, very comfortable to run without hearing protection. We needed to stay under $15k so didn't add the roof or windshield, possibly will at some point. It runs well even in the sub-zero temps we've had recently, but not comfortable to drive.

    in cattle pastures, those cattle can destroy any feeder! fence it off? also, if you mount keg plates in center of barrel likely more stable, with those legs.

    • @derekdB
      @derekdB 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      We started with the feeders set in CRP fields or spots that couldn't be accessed by livestock. But fences often get washed out during Spring rains so the cattle would get out. So we've started fencing the feeders in with non-barbed wire. We thought about putting the plates in the middle of the barrel and that would also help the height for the deer to feed more comfortably, but it's already almost difficult to reach from the bed of a pickup. As the legs get bent or broken we replace them with solid steel pipe and that seems to work really well, although more expensive.

    I have a 2016 4010 SE 4X4 and the front storage compartment latch knob is a problem. It is merely a knob and is difficult to pull back sufficiently due to how much tension is on the latch springs. It should have been made in a "D" configuration. Keep a close check on your oil dipstick. Check it regularly as they will rust due to insufficient crankcase ventilation. I replaced mine once and last year it broke and the majority of the dipstick is lodged in the tube and I haven't had a chance to get it out of there. Stainless steel dipstick is around $40.That is the only problem I have had with mine. I have it loaded with accessories. Besides a 3500# winch, I installed the Kawasaki electric bed lift and the heavy duty trans/differintial skid plate. When mine was brand new I had to really press on the brake pedal to stop. I t akes a little while for the drum brakes to get broke in. Mine will stop very quickly now. I speed checked it the other day with a phone spedometer app and it will do a whopping 22 MPH which is ok for the suspension limits and terrain I use it in. It would be nice if it could be turned up to 35 though.

    I have a 2008 4010 equipped with a winch, roof, windshield front and back, heated seats, front light bar, cube lights in the rear and floor mats including the bed. No issues whatsoever! Just regular maintenance and running premium gas. Replaced the tires to 28" x 10's ! No lift and gained almost 3.5" of ground clearance. The machine is a workhorse! Commercial built for work. I also have a 2022 model exactly like yours, but full Curtis cab, winch, aux lights, heater, sound bar, floor and bed mats. I love Kawasaki Mules! My only suggestion would be to add CVT boot protection or you'll be replacing the rubber boots periodically.

    • @derekdB
      @derekdB 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry for the delay in responding. I keep meaning to measure and I forget, I think it's around 34 inches, but probably needs to be higher because the bigger raccoons can reach it. I think it could go up 4-6 inches and the deer could still reach it, but it will be difficult to reach to fill out of the smaller pickup bed that we usually use to shuttle feed with. And we're all 6'1" to 6'8" tall so I'd have a hard time recommending going too high.

    Great video and just subscribed! I have made something similar with the motorized spinner, but I like the idea of a gravity feeder. Does it clog up very much or does the corn keep flowing pretty well? Thanks for the inspiration. Also, where are some good places to find the metal barrels?

    • @derekdB
      @derekdB 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Appreciate the sub! I've used the spinners in past too and just didn't want to deal with batteries. Corn and pellets flow both flow very well, I did have some alfalfa pellets get wet inside (my fault, accidentally dumped water from the lid inside when opening) and they swelled and got moldy, had to scoop that all out. Otherwise no flow issues. We got our metal barrels from my dad's employer, an envelope factory. The barrels held ink for printing. You might scout out recycling places or scrap yards. Make sure you get one with the removeable lid instead of just a bung hole. Hope that helps!
