Prior army service and I’m in the PRISE-R program. Recently joined the Navy reserves and my rate is MA. I have to go to a school but it’s only 50 days. Do you know what I’ll be doing cause I saw that typically a school is nine weeks correct me if I’m wrong. Thanks.
You will be completing the curriculum for MA’s with the fresh Sailors out of bootcamp! You are considered a “fleet returnee” so you will get special treatment usually. Find any MA and ask them about their A school experience
Also here is the info for the MA rate from Navy Cool www.cool.osd.mil/usn/moc/index.html?moc=ma&tab=overview
Hi there, I'm having a tough decision trying to decide between applying to be a commissioned officer in the Active Duty side or Reserve side. I think I'm in somewhat of a unique situation because I've tried multiple times to be an officer in the Navy, there has generally been some type of issue like one of sub-scores on the ACT was a little bit low to join the NROTC in 2011, then after I got my BA and MA, I was about to join in 2019 and even went to MEPS, but got put on administrative hold because I wasn't told I'd have to do the medical questionnaire again and a few answers weren't aligning. That year I moved from Michigan to Florida and I was confused and disappointed when the recruiters there said I had to take another college math class even though my math is pretty good(highest subscore on the ACT). I had already worked so hard to lose weight (which I've struggled with and still struggle with) and I literally had just graduated with not just an BA, but an MA as well. I was ready to work and earn a real income, not back to school and get into more debt. Since then I have been using my BA in Spanish (GPA 3.6) and MA in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) (GPA 3.5) teaching at college/university and K-12 schools. Needless to say, I'm ready to transition. I've wanted to go back to school to be an SLP and even took pre-requisite courses. At this point, I want to be an SLP in both the civilian and military sector. I want to serve my country, while also being able to provide for myself and my family. I've looked into the HPSP and NOSP but SLP isn't as focused o as Nursing, Medical, and Dentistry. I'm fine with serving as active duty for at least 3 years to get the GI Bill and serve in the Reserves to pay for SLP school and then go back to active duty, but I don't want to wait too long to further my education. I know about TA, but I think I'd need special permission to pursue a lateral degree. I have contacted some Navy officer recruiters, but many have not responded to my emails and one Navy Healthcare officer recruiter I've texted with has spotty timeliness in his responses. I'm just curious on your thoughts on my situation. Sorry for the length! If you made it this far, I appreciate you taking the time to read this long message!

Good information for adults with families and a life. Thank you 🙏🏻
When you say you get a percentage base pay at retirement, do you mean reservist drill pay or base pay of that rank from active duty?
How do you get your points corrected? Only my active duty time shows up in ASOSH as well as in NSIPS under self-service retirement and separation service statement. Do you know another place where your drill points would show up other than in bol and NSIPS?
How much for a single person with one child for insurance?
$274.48/month premium
@ wow. This may be a silly question. But is that entire paycheck for that one grill weekend each month. I don’t understand the wages?
@ I don’t understand the chart 📈
Prior service Army E5. Active duty ECM approved me for BM2, BM. I wanted MA and not BM. Active duty is what I want, not reserves. If i go reserves as a MA, what type of orders can I get? 2 year or 4 year stations? overseas stations? Can my wife and kids join me? Thank you
Check out this video! Active Duty Opportunities in the Navy Reserves th-cam.com/video/Y_y52FyBVJ4/w-d-xo.html
Thank you for this.
How do it work if you get rated 100%? Can the va take your rating away for being in the reserves?
No. You just have to put that VA money aside for drill weekends
How can i reach out to you personally? I have some questions
Insta @hm1psr
Is it more difficult to be prior service and go Active Navy?
In my experience yes. The recruiters usually send me any prior service unless they are trying to be a Navy Seal or Diver etc
Do you have a phone number I can call to ask few questions?
I’m a new hm in the reserves and I have a lot of questions
Nice work
Hi Brooke, so glad I came across your videos. I'm interested in joining the Navy Reserves. I have a college degree and a full time job and am wondering if I could to go OCS and then join the reserves. Do you have an idea of what that may look like?
This was funny - I was a 3x6 back in the late 80s early 90s - my first drill weekend after active duty was ‘go to this boat in RI on this day and bring your gear… don’t mess this up’ I got on the boat and we went out to sea for 4 days - hot racking it on a minesweeper as an OS. Never had a class, indoc, review, training… just show up and work. All this seems like a bit of an improvement haha My first weekend was a hot mess and every drill weekend after was a hot mess then I was shipped off to a minesweeper in the Gulf for Desert Storm for 2 weeks… that ended up being 3 months. I miss the Navy - in my time it was nightmare fuel and I loved every minute of it haha
Thank you!
Is this one the same or function like Navy Cool ?
No. It is a separate program. It pays for the course and test
Thank you for answering good questions!!
Thank you. I have been considering it.
What if I only did one enlistment but my contract was longer than normal?
It needs to be two separate enlistments
How hard is it to go active once I’m in the reserves and if I do go active do I have to pay back the signing bonus for reserves !??? Thanks in advance
If someone requires a waiver, is that disqualify them being able to get a bonus?
Are you aware of any officer bonuses? Do you know any bonises that are currently available for any officer?
HM1, UT3 here, I am potentially trying to go RC to AC. I received my 20k sign on bonus. Does that mean I will have to pay some if not all of it back? Just trying to plan ahead if I am authorized to switch. Thank you.
From my understanding yes. Unless you went TAR. Definitely bring that up to your CCC
❤❤❤
You are hot
nope, still confusing, lol. thanks though
So all of you know, when you fill out your 22-1995 to apply for the Montgomery GI bill you MUST put in block 10 on page 2- requesting remaining chapter 30 educational benefits as a result of the Rudisill decision. The VA wont tell you this, but will immediately deny you with the reason of- you must provide additional proof that you are eligible for the MGIB. I have applied 3 times now, first 2 were denied. 3rd time was after speaking with SEVERAL people at the VA, having my call escalated to a supervisor, because no one could tell me what additional proof would satisfy me being eligible. I served from 93-17 active duty. I also had to print out the form, manually fill it out, sign it, scan it, and submit it via AskVA.gov in order for them to accept my application a 3rd time...
So… I served 2 enlistments. From 9/93 and then re-enlisted and served until 9/2003. VA keeps telling me that I only qualify for the Mont. GI Bill and it has expired. Do I qualify for Post 9/11 and can use those benefits?
No you dont because you didnt serve after the post 9/11 bill went into effect
@ but I served more than 90 days of active duty on or after September 11, 2001 🧐
@@GovmntLacky try googling when did the post 9/11 gi bill come out... I didnt say you didnt serve after 9/11 I said you didnt serve after the post 9/11 gi bill went into effect. It was something like Aug 2009.
@@GovmntLacky either way though, apply if you want, let the VA tell you that you arent eligible, they are really good at it....even if you are.
@ so if you literally served 8 YEARS after 9/11 then you can’t use the Post 9/11 bill? Seriously??
Reserve me please very thank you
Question... I join the reserve as a Seabees. How long will it take for me to change my contract to active duty.
Active Duty Opportunities in the Navy Reserves th-cam.com/video/Y_y52FyBVJ4/w-d-xo.html Check this out
Does it apply to the surviving family members as well?
Very informative. I was considering switching from Army reserves to Navy reserves by April this year. I've been in the Army reserves since 04/21/13.
That’s a great idea 😎 My experience working with the Army is we get a lot more freedom. The Navy lets us do evolutions as an IA (individual augmentee) and we aren’t restricted to one unit.
Hello I am in the process not sure if reserve or active is for me
I spent 20 years in the USAF and i never even heard of the Navy reserve!! and no i dont hate the navy or the army i jusst didnt think the navy had a reserve component
Thank you for your service! I get Prior Air Force coming to the Navy Reserves because the closest place to drill for them is Riverside!
How about buying a house so you buy a house through the VA and then you rent it right then you get it you can get a second loan through the VA because now you’re not leaving at that house you’re gonna rent the other house and you’re gonna live at the new house are you gonna buy?
That’s a great idea. This would be possible depending on how you do it. You only have one VA home loan entitlement. So if you have one home with the VA you would not be able to buy another until it is paid. But if you did some sort of equity financing (HELOC etc) it mind be possible. According to the VA you have an entitlement if one of the following is true: You’ve never used your home loan benefit, or You’ve paid a previous VA loan in full and sold the property (in this case, you’d have your full entitlement restored), or You’ve used your home loan benefit, but had a foreclosure or compromise claim (also called a short sale) and repaid us in full
I just drove 30 years so you get 75% of your pension
What about if I just go to the VA?
why would you sign up to participate in a killing machine? deplorable
www video mad underrated
Do you have a business phone number that we can call you for more information?
Would you please make a video on how reservists finding civilians jobs or should you disclose the information indicated that you are in the guard or reserve.
THANK YOU !!!!!
You should add a contact button or link so anyone with questions can reach out to you.
my report manager screen doesnt have any options, what now?
Same what do I do
Thank you and you are very beautiful
