Background.
Released in 1976, the Altec Lansing Model 19 was a 2-way vented floor type speaker system that introduced a new technology developed by Altec engineer Clifford A. Henricksen: the radial phase plug / Tangerine driver, which greatly improved the speaker’s high frequency response. Beloved for its crystal clear and natural sound (likened to studio monitors), sensitivity, and wide soundstage, the Model 19 has over the decades become regarded as one of the best home speakers systems ever made and, to some ears, even rivaled Paul W.
