Oceania seems to change their alcohol package and gratuity costs on a yearly basis, and what you pay could vary greatly based on special offers and travel agent incentives. That being said, their "current" Prestige Select Beverage Package costs $59.50 per day, per person (incl beverage gratuities). You would have to drink at least 4 alcoholic beverages per day for that to be cost effective. As of 10/1/24, Shipboard Gratuities are now included in the cruise fare. btw- Oceania allows you to bring up to 6 bottles of wine (per cabin) onboard to consume in your stateroom. If you want to bring a bottle to a restaurant, they will charge a $25 corkage fee.

What ship were you on? I recently sailed on Oceania about 4 months ago and the buffet staff put the food on my plate.

@ I tried to reply with a link but YT wouldn’t let me. If you go to the Oceania board of Cruise Critic on the fourth page it says “O will go to self serve in the terrace cafe, is that true or just incidental on a ship or two?” the discussion was so severe that the topic was locked. It was also over in Face Book on Oceania section. Have a good trip. We will be sailing in April.

Yes. Renaissance built 8 "R-Class" ships between 1998 and 2001. Renaissance ceased operations shortly after that. Oceania purchased 4 of those ships which became Oceania's Sirena, Nautica, Insignia, and Regatta. Azamara Cruises purchased the other 4 R-Class ships. Oceania refurbished those ships from top to bottom and they look fantastic, however the Veranda staterooms and bathrooms on the R-Class ships are significantly smaller than the "larger than average" Veranda staterooms on Oceania's newer ships. I think that Princess gives the best value. As Elite, I get FREE, unlimited, laundry and dry cleaning, so I only bring carry-on.

@@cruisecrazy7066 Over the years we sailed on Princess quite a bit. We usually take longer cruises (10+ days), so I appreciated that Princess has self-serve launderettes. However Princess charges to use them. Princess has upcharges on most things - including Alfredos pizza restaurant (which used to be included), and bottled water (unless you purchase a package). Our desire to have more inclusions led us to Oceania, and also Viking. Thanks so much for watching!

It was very nice indeed. This was our third sailing on Oceania. The food is always amazing. There are so many inclusions that I think our final bill upon debarkation was only about $12. Thx for watching!

Concerning drinks on board, I don't drink alcohol but I like to have for example a non-alcoholic cocktail by the pool or at an indoor bar (virgin Pina Colada, virgin Mojito...). Could you tell me if this is included or not? I've never seen this type of cocktail on the bar menus. And on the Oceania website, it's really not clear (it only talks about coffees and sodas !). This will be my first Oceania cruise in April!

​​@@floriandesperier8231On Oceania, the included beverages are water, teas, coffee, specialty coffee, juices, and soft drinks. You'll need to purchase a beverage package for alcoholic drinks and mocktails. However you are allowed to bring 2 bottles of wine onboard to consume in your cabin (alcoholic or non-alcoholic). Since you don't drink alcohol, it's not worth it to purchase a beverage package on Oceania. Just use your shipboard credit from your travel agent to purchase your non-alcoholic beverages. Enjoy your cruise in April!

@@TheSicilianLife We love the Dover Sole on Oceania. At home, we're purchasing more fish, now that steak is quite expensive. And I must say that I'm not missing the steak at all!

The personal service on Oceania is wonderful. Even at their buffet restaurant, you simply tell them what you would like and they make up your plate. They will even offer to take your food to your table if your hands are full. Their 4 specialty restaurants are all complimentary. No nickel and dime added charges. Carol, thanks so much for your feedback. We've stayed at the Moxy Southampton, UK multiple times. The location is just perfect for quick mall shopping or a short walk to our favorite restaurant. On our last visit, we took the National Express bus from London Heathrow airport direct to Southampton. It was fast and inexpensive (~$25 USD) each. Then we walked about 4 blocks to the Moxy.
