Have fun drawing, painting, journal making and using, rubber stamping, clip art creations, exploring many different media. I've discovered more and more how important it is to allow yourself to be Playful, have Fun, and give yourself Permission to create art.
I also like to talk about Principles of Authentic Drawing & Painting, which is about knowing, BEing, and freeing yourself to express YOUR truth through the drawn or painted picture. It is, most of all, about being curious, playful, and having an open-hearted relationship with who you really are.
Bless you in your journey to joyful creativity!

Masterboard & Journal Cards & Making a Junk Journal With Them
Watch just the flip through at 13:45
To purchase go to: www.etsy.com/shop/KimVictoriaArtist/
I made 4 masterboards and treated the cover as a masterboard as well. The 4 colorful signatures of hand-dyed and variety papers create the theme of 4 Seasons, and the masterboards became all the tags, journal cards, belly bands, and more.
Each of the 4 signatures have 32 pages, plus writing cards, tags, and flip- outs. The pages measure 5-1/2" X 8-1/2", with the cover slightly wider. The total for all 4 signatures is 128 pages.
For those interested, it took over 25 hours of time to make this journal, plus the time to make this video; thus getting close to 30 hours.
I am a classically trained artist of drawing and painting and think of journal making the same as any other composition - I look to create harmony, unity, cohesiveness. When I make a journal I am making an art piece and all the elements need to work together so that I usually choose to not make parts and pieces for journals ahead of time, I make custom pieces for individual journals appropriate for those individual journals.
Thank you for watching,
I hope you received inspiration.

Thank you for watching. Kim PS - I made a SHORT as a follow up to what I did to change the prototype version:...

Mass Make 14 Gift Journals

I did this mass make as gifts for a group of artists. These are simple, easy to make, smallish journals that I didn't do embellishing in because they are going to artists who will want to do their own embellishing/decorating/writing. I love this so much. I love everything about it. I would love to do this!!!
Fabulous!
I like the already written story of the journal. 💜 It is very important we take care of each other and learn to be compassionate again. I think today it maybe is easier than it ever has been, although at first glance it seems to be impossible. And of course I liked the Autumn section of your journal best. 😊 "Autumn is proof that change can be beautiful." Keep shining, my friend. 🥰
I really like the idea. Everything has it's place and is easily visable. Even the larger ephemera pieces are supported and won't just bend. Yes, me too. I didn't know I needed one or two or... 😂 of those until you made it. Thanks for sharing. 😊
I have tons of calendars! Fun ideas! For that tag with the off-center hole, you can punch another hole next to it and loop ribbon thru 😊. TYFS! New subbie here (Michigan) 💜🦋❤️
Thanks for the idea!
I have lots of large wildlife pictures from calendar pages. I’ll be interested in doing some f these. Thanks for the tips.
I love this idea! Pockets for all the little stuff all over my desk.
I put all my bits and pieces, project parts and such, into them and finding them very useful. Thanks for watching!
Didn’t know I needed this until you made it.
Neither did I, and am finding it very useful. Thank you!
I love the ephemera holder/display. Beautifully well-arranged. 🥰
Hi Tina - I appreciate that you are interested in the display and just made the video for it, to be published next Tuesday morning. I made improvements from the prototype that I really like. And now that I have completed 2024 bookkeeping I have time to come check out what you've been working on. Cheers!
Thank you so much!!!
My pleasure!
😍 Beautiful notebooks. I love the homemade tapes.
Lovely gifts
I love how excited you are about this journal because it really is just one lovely surprise after another. I’m fascinated by those sliding peekaboo window cards! Would you consider doing a tutorial?
I'm fascinated by the peekaboo windows too. I'll ask Tina if she will do a tutorial since she made these, that would be better than for me to deconstruct it. I'll let you know. Thank you for watching my video!
@@KimVictoria-Artist That would be amazing! Please do let me know. I just liked and subscribed. Have a great day!
Tina made the video for the peek-a-boo window - here's the link: th-cam.com/video/yIIzCL8prCU/w-d-xo.html
@@KimVictoria-Artist I am SO EXCITED! Thanks for the heads up. Have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year :)
I'm so happy your journal finally got to you. 💜 I have to admit it's journey has been a bit of an emotional roller coaster ride for me. 😅
Hi Tina - Have you done, or would you do, a tutorial for the sliding peekaboo window cards. I could deconstruct it but a step by step from you would be better. If you've already made a video for this please share the link. I'm still flipping through the journal and goodies a little at a time, and enjoying it all. 🥰
@@KimVictoria-Artist I haven't made a tutorial yet, because I found the tutorial for these on Eva's channel from Bohemian Crafting. But I'm on it. First I wanted to finish my other videos. Done. 😉 I have to make some more Christmas Cards and already have a really cute idea using one of my Whimsical Winter Village printables for a bigger peeka boo card.
@@FriedaFriemel It's wonderful how these techniques get around the world. Your bigger peek-a-boo will make a great demo, if you have time to do that too. I don't think I've seen Bohemian Crafting yet so will check that out. Christmas is almost here and you still need to be an elf. The peek-a-boo will wit til January. Thanks!
I'm so glad you were able to take your mind off of the trouble. 💜
You can definitely use vynil to sew by machine. You just have to use a Teflon foot, or place some tape underneath your sewing foot to make the leather or vynil easier to sew!
Thanks for the tip! I used a roller presser foot when I made the first vinyl cover journal and it worked great. The sewing machine repair person stated that the force needed to penetrate those materials created too much wear on the machine motor. I don't think I need to avoid vinyl completely as long as I only do it occasionally. I appreciate that you shared your experience, it helps. Cheers!
👍👍👍💕💕💕🇩🇰
Awesome ❤❤❤
I'll added as a special decor to my own, if you don't mind.
I love this! It's brown and grungey and fun, especially with all the different things inside including the recipes (what fun - gotta try the coffee!). For people who don't like leather, or vinyl, you can make really convincing faux leather from brown packaging paper. Lots of recipes online!
Yay! Thank you! I've seen a couple of those brown paper videos. This style would also work with upholstery fabric, which I plan to do.
🥰 This doily booklet is so cute. 😍 The idea to use it as a page clip on is great. About the many, many different ink colors: Margreth from Sevenplaza reminded me just the other day that you can use felt-tip pens to color your edges. Yeah, I know, doesn't look the same. But then she painted on an acrylic block, added a little water spritz and used a dauber to ink the paper edges. I'm definetly going to try this. A hole new world of possibilities.
Thank you for sharing Frieda ❣️🙏🕊❤️God bless your heart...
I forgot about that good idea, haven't done it in years. I did it with watercolor paints, and did the felt tip pens direct to the edges. Thanks for mentioning it!
Very neat! I need to try one in leather. Sorry, but I really do not like vinyl. It kind of makes my fingers itch. :(
Yes, vinyl is plastic and can cause skin issues in sensitive persons. Find a thinner, supple leather for this style, I think. Vinyl is something I had given to me. Watch the how to videos for the other masculine theme journal for tips on making the cover, which will work for leather or upholstery fabric as well.
Hello from SC❤
Welcome!! I'm always open to hearing suggestions from subscribers. Thanks for watching. Kim
New subscriber from SC. ❤
Thank you for sharing your 1st freebie, it's very generous of you as it really is a staple product we use in junk journaling❣❤
You are so welcome! And now it can be whatever color and paper people want to use. I like designing things like this. Enjoy!
Great demonstration, Kim! I love how it fits in with the watercolor painting of similar theme!!
Thank you so much!
Nice cover, it's a pity it's not leather.
I enjoyed watching and learning!
Hi Wendy - Thank you! I just published another video with the same set-up but did it with acrylics, which you might find more interesting. See you soon! Cheers!
Thanks
💜 Although the video was speed up it was so calming to watch. Thank you!
Hi Tina - Glad you enjoyed it!
♥♥♥
The combination of brown and blue is just beautiful. And I love the Da Vinci pages. In my opinion combining sience and art is the closest you can get to asking the right questions. Very well done, my friend.
Thank you! So true. So very true.
That was fun! Good ideas. Thanks!!!
Would love the recipes if possible.
Okay. I don't know if you will like them but I love your idea to share them. I created a listing where they can be downloaded for free. Thank you! You have to go to the "Shop" tab. buymeacoffee.com/KimVictoriaArtist
I though the same thing about the cutlery envelope, my husband just shakes his head and does not ask why I am keeping them anymore. lol😊
Ah yes indeed. I do have to stop sometimes and ask myself if it will actually be useful. I have a small roll of corrugated cardboard that has become a wonderful texture stamp, so, yeah, fun stuff.
Amazing!
Thank you! Cheers!
Many useful tips, thanks a lot for this video!
Glad it was helpful!
Good morning, Kim. It's always a delight to hear your thought process and watch you making decissions. It's like I'm taking part in your creative flow. Personally I do like the beige leather band better, because I think the color does make it easier to find your focal point.
I came to like it better, as well. Thank you!
You have inspired! Thank you😊
Brilliant!
Thank you so much! I have used your highland stamps for years for little personal items. Now I'm expanding the love!
Oh, thank you so much! I appreciate that you have some of them, especially now that I have discontinued making them. Yes, I am expanding my use as well, as you saw, and it is fun to have the time to do that. Thank you for watching my videos. Let me know if there is something you'd like to see me demonstrate. Suggestions are helpful for creating what people would like to see. Happy creating! Kim
This whole thing is not “fun”, it’s an eye-sore! And a pointless one, at that.
I respect your opinion. Art is like that. There are mid 20th century artists, highly respected by critics and the arts community that collectors paid millions for, that I think created pointless junk. This isn't my usual creative direction but something I wanted to challenge myself to try. Your preferences are valid. I appreciate that you took a look even though you don't like it. Bless you on your own creative journey!
completely awesome journal
I see Cosmo Cricket Christmas paper! I LOVED that line! (adorable journals!)
Thank you! Out of storage and into a journal, but I didn't know it was that line, I simply liked the paper. Glad you like them.
I can tell that it feels Yummy. Thx for the inspiration. 😊
I love how the junk-only file folder turned out. 💜 The grunging up is just awesome. So beautiful! Use what you have is the best starting point. Yes, you're going to see trash and junk differently once you've recognized their potential. Even shopping for groceries changes, because you're having a closer look at the packaging. 😂
Hi Tina, Thank you! This was a fun and expansive experience
Great work; that's a kind of creation that would inspire all kinds of writing. A variety of note taking in one book 👍🏼
Thank you so much! I hope you are also enjoying the current video series about how I made that journal plus new ideas. My husband is a writer/author and has inspired me quite a bit. Cheers!
Great tips, this was really helpful, especially for us who are beginner artist
I am sincerely glad this was helpful. I want to do more videos such as this and would love to know what YOU are wondering about. Even though I have decades of experiences, I still learn from other artists and students of art. It was my art students who taught me how to teach. The journey is rewarding. Remember to keep it fun. Let me know. Cheers!
I like having the tails of the binding threads as bookmarks. They are decorative and very useful. In fact I miss these bookmarks when reading a paperback or even a newer hardcover edition. I really do like the stenciling, especially on the graph papers. Makes them even more interesting.
Hi Tina, I respect your opinion quite a bit because you are such a talented journal-maker. Thank you! Subscribers who see this - go check out the detailed instruction on @FriedaFriemel - excellent tutorials.
