เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 9 มี.ค. 2022
Kyiv School of Economics (KSE) is an undergraduate and graduate school of economics and management in Kyiv, Ukraine, founded in 1996 by the Economics Education and Research Consortium (EERC) and the Eurasia Foundation. KSE today is the most ambitious Ukrainian educational project and the most powerful intellectual hub in the country.
After Russia's invasion of Ukraine KSE launched an intellectual diplomacy project #GlobalMinds4Ukraine. It is a series of lectures with world intellectuals to demonstrate solidarity with Ukraine. This project helps to tell the truth about the situation in Ukraine, to resist Russian propaganda, to conduct true narratives, to create ways to rebuild the country, to strengthen connections and the image of Ukraine in the academic environment.
Among the speakers who agreed to hold open lectures for KSE: Nassim Nicholas Taleb, Michael A. McFaul, David Howell Petraeus, Nicholas A. Christakis, Susan Stokes, Mark Esposito, Sander van der Linden and others.

Retards for ukraine.
Interesting how the professor mentioned a quotation from the Nazi collaborator's granddaughter(of who she is proud of), Christya Freeland, and gave no opinion on why the war in Ukraine happened. Another - war started because Putin had nothing to do
This is a ridiculous and useless set of assumptions.
But Biden and Trump miserably failed Palestine
Hi I am preparing a diploma thesis about «A Software System for Detecting Disinformation based on NLP in Big Data Streams». This video is invaluable, I see where I can contribute. It would be useful to include the sources or at list the links to main presentation.
Does anyone know the name of the paper with the incorporation of club goods into the model? Ive been reading Logic of pol. survival and would love to know how that is modeled.
Misinforming and ignorant to say the least… total BS
Fantastic! Thanks a lot!
great experience sir ..
at around 21:00. Why does the function have this shape? Why does the welfare go DOWN with increasing coalition size and the go UP?
as w(winning coalition size) increases, the amount of private goods decreases and public goods increases. Where welfare is decreasing it is because the effects of the drop in private good has a greater effect than the increase in public good. In other words, if a dictatorship expands coalition slightly, there will not be much more public good than before, but now the private goods will be divided by more people, so each person gets less.
Freedom is immanent, your own. But Liberties implies a liberator, a great "Other" to whom you must always be grateful.
Thanks for this really insightful conversation. I have learned a lot and wish Western politicians would factor this knowledge more into their own narrative and strategies. This deserves broader attention
Only someone with a doctorate could say this sentence with a straight face 😂 "The soviet union represented both racial equality and economic opportunity" -Kimberly St. Julian-Varnon
Not aging well.
I've been following professor Snyder on a number of channels. The depth of complexity and analysis puts most of the historians, analysts and commentators to shame. I especially appreciate his comments on the knee jerk dogmatic views of the leftists who have no such depth or complexity in what they spew as their views. Being likely that those people have never been in Ukraine, especially now, their 'opinions' have close to zero relevance to anything. I've always said that the philosophy and views of the far left move in a circle to meet the philosophy and views of the far right. They both have limited abilities for impartial analysis of anything.
Snyder says that when you blame the US for problems you are overlooking Ukrainian agency. There are always gonna be real and natural problems that the CIA exploits - to foment the Maidan coup or greasing the pockets of Zelensky or sending Boris Johnson to disrupt peace talks. Where is the Ukrainians agency then?
Vlad sent me. You should interview him as well.
I'm sad it took me this long to find this. This should definitely be seen by a wider audience.
Came here searching for Thomas Rid (suggested by Vlad Vexler). Thanks for this talk, it deserves more attention than the present ~900 views. If you break it down into smaller chunks (not just chapters but separate videos) you can probably get more people to hear how Russian and US disinformation works.
Same. It really does need to be spread around.
What about all the Russians who live in Eastern Ukraine, and the 14000 Russians killed by the Ukrainian military before the Russians invaded Ukraine. They don’t count, do they. Self determination?
Most stupid analysis I’ve ever heard!
Stanley is amazing.
Prisoner Pieces like 5mm Figurines. Objectification. Dehumanizing. Can't get them to line up correctly discard them.
Thanks professor Taleb!
3 min intro? What a jerk
Not here for you learn to be pithy and let your guest talk
I wonder what william t. Sherman would say.
Bullshit. Russia has NOT launched a "Full Scale Invasion" that's just what Ukrainian media likes to say due to them losing a war to a Russian Special Operation that's utilizing a fraction of Russian resources 😂😂😂
54:50 "Doing freely what u have to do" The freedom of a forced choice hahahah Watch out ❗Total perversion enters the field. Obey the necessities and trick yourself into the idea that it is an expression of freedom. Good Stalinist he is still 🎉 Me love him
For the fascist Russia is a fascist, Ukraine is a democracy
Timoty is outdated demagog, disguised fascist
Who controls the world after the fall of communism? I came to this conclusion while driving through a food bank in SE Oklahoma City, months ago. I got my share of free food handouts that day, few months ago. The world is indirectly controlled by the virtual umbrella of vested interest groups known as the Deep State in Washington DC as well as controlled by four nations after the fall of communism. Who controls the Deep State? The Deep State controls the President of the US and policy makers of the NATO group. The Deep State is controlled by the four nations of Lithuania and Latvia and Estonia and Poland after the fall of communism. So, the leaders of Lithuania and Latvia and Estonia of north Europe., and Poland control NATO and control the President of the US after the fall of communism. These four anti-Russian nations control NATO groups and are the sworn enemies of the post communist elected governments of the Russian Federation after the fall of communism. These four nations manipulate the Deep State group of Washington DC and the President of the US and the NATO group of nations after the fall of communism. Few average members of the Deep State whether civilians or soldiers have travelled to north Europe and East Europe. They say, "I love it here. Our forefathers had unnecessarily conquered the western hemisphere from native Americans for no reason. The US is now full of criminals. I wish we could stay here in East Europe and Baltic States. We Americans can conquer north Europe and East Europe. These four countries are welcoming us with open arms. I like the pretty landscapes here." The only way to enrich people in the western hemisphere is by distributing money in these few poor European countries after the fall of communism.

Ukrainians killed alot of jews during ww2
Thank you Professor Snyder❤👍
Pathetic optimism or self fulling prophecies as make up of illusions or delusions
What is tis guy smoking??
Too clever for you.
Really nice interview. I particularly liked the question about leftists in the West who support Putin’s invasion. The irony is that these people argue that Russian theory and social science should be respected, and that western science dominates the world, but then they blame Nato for everything. They treat their own arguments with contempt. It never enters their mind that the reasons for Russia’s war may be a result of Russian policy making and internal political discourse/theory about the world.
He pretends the US has no imperial interest in the region. The US and Russia are two bullies with an ‘innocent’ caught in between. Was Russia supposed to stand by while the US propped up a government that allowed NATO to install missiles that would reach Moscow in well under 10 minutes?
If Ukraine had given back the stolen land from 2014 there would have been no war.
People in Ukraine are coming back, but so far they get no help from the government. th-cam.com/video/GUFCmWF6P5A/w-d-xo.html

How can another country say another county can't exist, Russia seems to want to destroy a country.
Looks like he could carry a gun -wonder why guys like Snyder don't volunteer to fight on the front lines?
@@VectorOfKnowledgeExcellent 👍 Russian propaganda everywhere : Putin's hybrid war.
What, your not gonna call an American Citizen "Comrade" for thinking Snyder is a corporate shill? We're playing a drinking game over here, I get a shot if u call me comrade or an agent of the Kremlin. @@ennediend2865
@@ennediend2865 If a patriotic American advocating for peace is Russian propaganda, then so be it, but who said the lines "Facts are stubborn things" One hint: He was defending British soilders in a court of law, for which he was branded a traitor to his people.
well sanctions didn't work
Honestly, I believe that Germany elites and politicians really ally with Mr. pOOtin to re-colonize Ukraine. They share the same historical memory: both sides lost Ukraine as rich colony, they both want it back, one way, or another. That's why Germany created kind of excuse not to help Ukraine to fight for its existence, but hopes to benefit from Ukrainian women and children if they will never return home, if their home will be taken by the rashist regime. At least it looks exactly like that. Shame on them.
Timothy is either delusional or purposefully disingenuous.
The only way out is for Russia to lose? What are moronic statement! One would have to have the brain of an amoeba to make such an ignorant assessment.
Fascists follow the dictum of “Always accuse the other side of that which you are guilty.” So is it schizofascism or just fascism? Trump does it all the time. (I’m Ukrainian Canadian and I am pressuring my government to help Ukraine. Slava Ukraine!)
Great Man!
Well, to anyone who calls Russia a fascist country, come to the mirror and you will see well developed ignorance of the History of the World. I have a question to you, useful idiots who by their own choice cannot see the Ukra NAZI flowering regime. If Ukrain is so dear to you, what will happen in your persnal life if Russia does win the privilege to have the Worldwide Peace. You and Snyder likes prefer to close your mind to what is really happening around you. We live in the incredibly interesting times as thru the Internet we are "participating" whether we want or not in the tremendous wave of the Knowledge. If you are a capable person to understand that your personal happiness is built on your decisions, you will not be searching for an opportunity to think thru your ass, as your comments suggest. Let's take the favorite object of the Snyder's thought - Ukrain. The sovereignty of the so called country has gone long ago. It is a puppet in our American hands, and we can twist it this way or that way. And you and Snyder including DO NOT see it because it is much easier to your limited brains to understand a very small historic fact - Russia had been, Russia is and Russia will be a very, very, very sovereign country. The History with which Snyder freely accommodates his personal hate and limitations of his thinking process toward Russia and the Russians turns to your limitations in a full gear to influence you with the "brilliancy"of his topic of the discussion that it is one reality only and that is the Russian Fascism and poor, indeed it is poor, Ukrain is the so called victim, Peace minded Ukrain which was killing unarmed Russian speaking population in the Eastern part of the country, for 8 long years, and Snyder did disregard this like it never happened. Extremely convenient of the historian of his caliber. Everything what Russian is Evil! A new Motto of the West our American useful idiots all colors, and not to forget of the Asian newly developed military block which is aiming at a very bad player, the American enemy number One - China. Congrats to all of you. loosers! BRILLIANT! Snyder and alikes will "help" you to be miserable, believing The Best Way for Present Day Russia Is To Loose This War. WHY? You may not know, but Snyder does, we, the Americans, had decided long ago to "crush" Russia as a country and devide it into small parts as it does not "deserve" it to be so big, independent, so famous, with wall water supplies, energy, minerals which we do not have, and gas and oil, and the hell with the people as they are not the people but wild animals. We will take All We Need, and the leftovers - our vassals can have. Does it remind you something, something around 1933 in the best, peace minded european country? Or yes, why even to recall an unfortunate short duration misjudgement of the History. Germany nowadays doesn't have anything of fascism, peace minded France neither, Italy- the Duce was a very ttiny nuisance, Nordic countries - do not even touch them, the most progressive ones - man fuck man and wemen lick wemen. Thst is the European style of Values! And how this fascist Russia can even think about some national security as they do not deserve it with their nothing to nothing military and their values, what fascist values, such as to keep the family as one unit where there is papa and mama different gender, where there is the Orthodox Church and muslim religions. Oh no. no, this subhumans do not deserve to be called Russia with 250 mil population. UNLESS, they will accepts our no doubt great values. Otherwise. Russia is a fascist country, thus, we need to crush completely its economy, demilitarize it completely, denukes it completely and whatever our imagination can help us to fight against this fascism. Well, how clever we are all!😮
Learn to separate your wall of text into paragraphs before you call other people stupid. Your comment strikes me as something a paranoid-schizophrenic person would scribble in feces, all across their bedroom walls.
I am confused on which fascism is romanian fascism closest to, Putin's fascism or Ivan Ilyn's? Romanian fascist legionars were fanatic ocultists, they would literally do blood rituals and death dances after they'd had assasinated someone. I don't see Putin's fascism that way and neither russian society which is not tradinional or christian in any capacity, I am always shocked by how uninvolved russians are in christian rituals.
