How to machine-bind a baby quilt (or anything else quilted!)
มุมมอง 9911 หลายเดือนก่อน
This is my technique for machine-binding a baby quilt, or really any quilt or anything that needs a binding that even looks like a quilt (placemats, pot holders, table runners, etc.). This is easy, and saves a ton of time over hand-binding a quilt. It also creates a superior look, and makes the item last a whole lot longer, because machine stitching is always stronger than hand-stitching. Pleas...

How to create a box bottom on a bag or tote without a seam to guide you!
มุมมอง 107ปีที่แล้ว
Most videos about making box bottoms show bags that have a seam at the bottom to guide you. My totes don't have seams, so I needed to find another way. Hopefully this helps you create box bottoms on things that do not have a seam to guide you!

Making bookmarks from leftover Pot Holder fabric

We don't like to waste anything here at the studio. When we make pot holders, there are strips of quilted fabric left over. They make great bookmarks! We include one with every order!
Using a Roller Foot to Sew Vinyl

More in the Using the Right Tool for the Job category. This vinyl is "sticky" and won't slide through between the presser foot and feed dogs, so a special presser foot is needed. Roller Presser Foot to the rescue! Look how easy this is!

I’ve seen people say these machines only take a particular needle. Is that correct? Cheers
Шикарная машина. Большое спасибо за обзор
I thought you said your friend was in a wheelchair and he carried around tools ? That’s wonderful that he’s still so active being in a wheelchair.
What does your frame look like ? I can't see it in a tiny screen...let me know thanks do you make long fabric on there if so how do you rotate and roll towards you!
I have my mom's 201 also from 1954 - one year younger than me!
I have a W model also, but mine does not have blind hem as one of the built in stitches-weird! Oh and it's all aluminum body-- both base and arm. I didn't weigh it but would guess it to be closer to 30 pounds. But I do agree that it is a special model. But I use my 15-91 for heavy sewing.
Replay❤
Just found you....wow....wonderful Info!!!
Are you posting more video's??? You are a book of vintage knowledge!!!! I am a huge fan of vintage sewing.....❤
Mine is a jewel!!! I get why you love yours!!! SueAnn from Idaho snow country

Singer also manufactured a Model 216G machine in their Karlsruhe, Germany factory. I am 'Blessed" to own one. Thankfully, it was designed to use the standard 15X1 needles.
I'm lucky to own a centennial version of this machine and she's mint , I feel so lucky to own her
My Kenmore’s name is Betty! Betty Kathleen, Betty after my great grandmother and Kathleen after my favorite song 💛
Actually the # 319W was made at the Singer plant in Bridgeport Conn. It was previously the Wheeler and Wilson plant and purchased by Singer around 1900.
Was that an L-style bobbin?
Yes, it is. They fit my Singer 319w.
What needle size does it take?
Regular class 15 needle. Nothing special.

Are you sure you can't use the oil?
The oil is 60+ years old, and oil can break down/become sticky. So no, I'm not using that can of oil, but I'm keeping it with the machine.
Pls I have necchi 525 and i dont know how to set it to start working@@patchworkchickenstudioarta5615
I have for sale.
Hi I have one
Hi, you can see page 16 of the singer 319 manual just the line before the last line : heavy material comparable to " sailcloth, Denim..." i wasnt telling lies.
And you can use your machine any way you like, I choose not to use mine for the same thing. Can't get big enough needles to use it for such fabric anyway. I have a 201 for that kind of work.
Hi, the singer 319 for sure sews impressive layers denim and heavy fabric for instance used for sails repairs
You can make almost any machine do anything, if you don't mind that you may shorten the life of it. I prefer to use my 319 for its intended purpose - household sewing.
Machine tearing fast if you use it for sails repairs
@@Акула-б3х please read the singer 319 manual page 16 and you ll understand what I'm talking about
If the belt it too tight or too loose, how do you adjust them? I think my belt is too loose, it is downright floppy and wont turn the machine at all, but I don't see anything resembling a tensioner pulley or adjustment knob.
If it is too loose, you will need to shorten it. There is no adjustment for treadle belts like there is for motor belts. There are a lot of videos out there on how to attach belts, including how to shorten them. Basically, you need to take it off, remove the metal clip, cut off what is extra, put a new hole in the cut part, and attach the metal clip again. Do this in small increments, so you don't end up too short. Take off 1/2 inch at a time, if not less.
@@patchworkchickenstudioarta5615 I will! Thank you so much!!
What a beauty! I just love these vintage machines. I have a 1954 201 portable and two 66 models and I adore them. Thanks for showing us your Sandy. 😊
You're welcome. She is an amazing machine!
Hola buen día, tengo una Pfaff 799 overlock, me encantaría poder conseguir el manual de instrucciones,me Puedes ayudar? Gracias

Great solution!
I do the diagonal on the finish too. You have to Leave longer tails so you have room to work but it makes a very neat finish. I always machine bind because I hate hand stitching
Wow, that is an AMAZING machine! How much did you pay for it?
I believe it was around $20.
Nice, thanks! What sewing machine are you using?
A vintage Singer 201, ca. 1952. She's one of my favorite machines!
Thank you so much for this video! I have this machine but have not used it yet as I have been busy cleaning it up, (whilst doing many other things) This is a great help to see how it sounds and how it sews. Much appreciated! I now need to find out how to put the original table back together after stripping and refinishing it as I've forgotten how it came apart due to re-upholstering a throne chair for someone else! :)
I have had my machine for 3 years and have never been able to get started using it until I watched your video today and was able to probably thread my machine as well as correctly get my bobbin threaded as well thank you so much you are amazing 😊
Hey darln do you happen to have any leftover parts?
I don't, I'm sorry. Sold the whole batch of parts machine and working machine to someone, as I ended up not really liking this machine.
I just found a pair of these in my grandmother's sewing chest. I can't figure out how to get the fabric to start. Is there a second video that shows it in more detail?
I just added a second video, looking at it closer. See it here: th-cam.com/video/IF2waONIxfE/w-d-xo.html
I love the Lotus decals on your machine. It's a very nice set of colorful decals! ❤
Fine video. Thanks.
A fine video. Thank you.
Thank you
So tiny and pretty! It's perfect!

Such beautiful music to accompany a nice recipe. Love it
What sewing machine are you using? Is that a walking foot?
That is my green machine, Bessie, the Singer 319. And yes, I am using a walking foot.
I was just given one of these machines by my grandmother and I need to replace the bobbin rubber piece and I was curious where you ordered them from?
Hi Hannah! I buy most of my sewing machine parts from Central Michigan Sewing Supply. Google for their website. They are awesome!
My Pfaff hobbylock serger 794 the needle will not go up or down help
I thoroughly loved this introduction to Mary Margaret , she's a beautiful machine. The Singer factory was in Clydebank, Glasgow, Scotland ( the banks of The River Clyde), so how appropriate that you have a Scottish Tartan pin cover to hand. I hope she gives you many years of pleasure. Thanks for sharing.

Great video ,Thanks !
