really cool if you need that "as it is" but if you plan to modify that geometry or working on it "for real" you will find that it's impossible to work with that many patches that probably even include degenerate faces for which you will go crazy fixing them

SUCH A GAME CHANGER! thanks for sharing, this will save so much time!

Hi Baron, very happy that this model I gave you a while ago to resolve the problem of bringing an obj file to Fusion 360 has finally been resolved! Your first attempt was very good but time consuming and tedious, now this is just simply an elegant and superb solution, what a time saver! Will try it out this weekend, THANK YOU!!!! (Also thanks to takerefuge3d!)
Thanks for the model and idea. Went a long way to help my channel get fully monetized.
That is fantastic - thank you for sharing.

Thanks For the Shout out mate! Keep up the awesome videos!
You can also run a decimate modifier or quad remesher in Blender to reduce the polygon count before exporting. If the model is all tris running the tri to quads in the edit mode will help also.
Thanks!

@@redbaronrc6520 Your videos are helping me a lot. Like you I am designing my own custom rc aircraft, my work used it be mechanical eng and machinist. I made jigs and fixturing wave/reflow soldering and then was designing 3d printers and desktop cnc units. Now I am simi retired due to medical reasons and run a small part time biz making promotional products as the equipment used for that and my hobbies are the same. I started learning surface and form tools a few weeks ago. I have been using cad since autocad needed digitizers and pucks so my habits have been hard to break, this has been harder than going from 2d to 3d cad back in....... the 90's I think. So thank you so much for all the information that is helping me learn the new toolset.
I downloaded the demo and might get the studio version if I like it.
Hey thanks for the comments!
Your telling me I could have just cut faces with a solid this entire time? Mind blown. I have always worked in solids till recently as I had no need for the other tools in my work. TBH I always thought they were just not accurate enough for the tight tolerances I worked with. Some times It had to be withing .0005" for some of the assembly fixtures.
Yeah I don't remember where I picked that up. Think I just accidentally discovered it.
I want to find a good casting foam for casting my own foamies too.
OMG, this is the most useful information on importing meshes and using them I have seen. I smashed that sub button halfway through the vid. You sir even got through to my aging brain, thank you.
Thanks for the sub!
have you tried modeling in Valence3d? It seems like it would do the same as Fusion360 on your ipad
I have never even heard of it. I'll have to take a look.
Sort of interesting, we followed the same path with Fusion, Blender, and now, Plasticity. I find Plasticity a refreshingly well thought out piece of software that is extremely powerful for a really great price. I am hoping to use the bridge to Blender for anything that requires animation, instead of Fusion. Your tutorial is wonderful. Please keep up the great work. I will be waiting to see how you break the model into components for 3D printing. I don’t think I need to beat the dead horse on the music. LOL.
Hey there thanks for watching and cutting me slack on the music. :)
I have really enjoyed this video to my breakfast coffee, thanks!
Thanks for watching at breakfast!
Thank you so much for the lessons. It is a great contribution to education.

would have to agree with others, great video but blaring harmonica rock is very annoying when im rewinding and trying to follow along.
My wife has officially fired me from the music selection department.
@@redbaronrc6520 haha, more time for modeling. I appreciate these videos, was in same boat where alibre and fusion are too difficult to get organic airplane curves with so I got plasticity. Really glad I stumbled on your channel it helps a lot seeing someone using same technique and software
@@davidrossberg2073 Glad to hear it! Thanks for watching.
If only modelling in nurbs would be this easy....LoL
Practice practice
These videos are awesome! Only thing I personally criticise is the background music. Way too loud while you talk and kind of annoying. But this might be just my own view. Keep on the great work!!
I appreciate the input. Your not the only one that's mentioned it. I must work on my DJ skills. Thanks for the comment.
I really love what you do there. I've been struggling for months with surface modeling. What would be epic in the future is a breakdown and explanation of why and how you did some parts.
Thank you for your input. I appreciate the suggestion.
beautiful bird, looking forward to seeing your landing gear solution! do you plan to print the glass with resin? liked and subscribed!
No. I have built a DIY Vacuum former. I can print super smooth molds then mold clear acrylic over them. That will be a future video.
Vacuum forming is cool, we used it a lot for POS materials to give in-store advertisements and shelfstoppers a 3D look.
Very annoying music, you don't need that.
Thanks for the input.
does fusion have something similiar to what plasticity now has which is the xnurbs and raise degree features? id like to know if you know the answer tyia
Closest might be forms modeling. But there's very little similarity as to how they work. You can convert a surface to a form, edit the object then convert it back but in my opinion you have less control. You might end up really struggling with tangency control to other existing faces in some cases. For a sketch or curve, you can add control points but again this is not like the raise degree command.
Nice Video! and Welcome, got a bit of a fright when I was watching this before bed on the TV and my face popped up on the screen!
Oh, the website scroll! I went back to see. Well, hey you make great videos anyway. Thanks for watching mine.
Thanks as do you, subbed as a kiddo I made a lot of balsa wood might be time to turn my 3d printer back on
Nice! Can't wait to watch it. I really wanna model a seaplane soon, so I suspect this will be a big help!
Yeah me too! Got a partially designed Grumman goose in the pile!
Nice! I really wanna work my way up to the Consolidated PBY Catalina! They have plans for it on AeroFred too, so thanks for the tip there!
@@overseastom cool plane!
thanks for sharing your knowlege with us!
Thanks so much for the watching!
I don't understand why you are using an AI narrator for this video. is there something wrong with your own voice
Good catch. However, the only section of that entire clip that was ai narrated was the conclusion. Done because my office was busy and I couldn't get a quiet spot.
A great couple of additional tips regarding surfacing is a) your guides and profiles are not joined unless the node turns a teal colour and b) join surfaces as you progress through the model. You can always unjoin using alt j if you want to delete or modify that surface.
Thanks for sharing!
Love this video! subscribed!
Thanks for subbing!
Tried to create this in advance of you producing this video. The surfacing around the canopy proved to be tricky and as you say, you've just gotta work at it to make it look right. Have to say, xnurbs is such a delight to have in your toolbox for these awkward patch areas.
Yeah, it bailed me out a few times on this one. Thanks for watching.
Will you be able to 3d print this model?
Ultimately, yes. This video shows creating the basic geometry of it, but I have no use for a static model. I will be doing a how to on how to set it up with all the supports and everything required to be a three printable flying model.
I started off learning blender but Plasticity just clicked for me. Looking forward to its further development. Thanks for the video.
Yeah, kind of clicked for me too. I have almost not even open fusion for over a month. That won't be permanent, but I'm just having a lot of fun with plasticity right now. Thanks for watching. My video really helps!
I've been using fusion 360 for a while and it has been very intuitive for me but every time I wanted to learn something like blender to desing something more organic I got lost super quickly. This software seem to bridge a gap there from first look. It's effordable enough as well. I might check it out. Thanks for the video.
Funny you say that. I actually learned blender and didn't really use it for about a year and have just about forgotten everything I know about the program. What I do I like this software better thanks for watching!
Really looking forward to this. I want to jump to Plasticity but I haven’t even downloaded it yet.
Hey, Thanks! Yeah working feverishly to finish. Regards;
Yay! And the longer the video the better imo!
Good to know!
Hello Redbaron, I found this video quite by chance and thanks to you I discovered a lot of interesting functions and methods. Thank you for your sharing. I would like to learn and practice according to your example. Is it possible to know the origin of the 3D STL file of the A6?
Hey thanks for watching. The source file was purchased by one of my subscribers. It was actually an obj. File. I'm sorry but I don't know where he purchased it from.
Thanks for the video. BTW ... I've loaded quite a few 500-pound bombs on those A6 Intruder B1RDs I'm seeing on your opening screen.
Thanks for watching! I did not know at the outset, but from the comments I've gotten that is quite a loved airplane by many people!
Back when i used to do die block scanning with a Roamer Arm, the experienced guys told me if we run out of spray to use spray on powder deodorant from Dollar General, I have never tried it personally but it might be worth using.
I think it would smell better actually. lol! thanks for watching.
That’s what I used when I was printing. It was the best stuff I ever used. Everything released crazy cleanly every time
Thank you so much, this was exactly what I was searching for, great work, keep it up!
Thanks so much for watching!
Do you really think the faa is going to track people down for remote-id issues
I honestly don't know how they will ever have the man power to enforce any of these regs, but the point of that video is that a plane of that size falls completely under the weight limit anyway.
@@redbaronrc6520 they never will .i get your idea and did buy the files .all LW right
Ive got Plasticity and find videos like this super useful. As its nowhere near as widely used as Fusion 360, its quite difficult to find tips and how-tos. I had a crack at blueprint to model and it was a bit of a roadcrash.
Great to hear!
how can i make it out of foam?
It would have to be redesigned. Guess you could cnc cut it.......
@@redbaronrc6520 could you make a plan for a foam one by any chance? i think a lot of people would like it

I have not tried the Mac version.
