I'd be curious to know how it opens up after a few days. I've always found first bottle pours taste different than that after it's been opened a little while.

wondering what the difference is between this and the Larceny barrel proof, both are wheaters from the same distillery. Maybe do a side-by-side comparison one day.

It may need time to open up. I recently purchased a bottle of Elijah Craig Barrel Proof and it tasted like a grandmothers musty basement. Now I love it. I would re-visit later.

Big Liquor Shop is my goto when I'm making my rounds. They're a good bunch of people when you go often. Not sure if you've tried it but the DE Makers Mark exclusive "candied orange creme brulee" is a great pour in my opinion, I'd highly suggest picking one up if you haven't.

At the first store they had garrison brothers cowboy bourbon. It's a bit pricey but if you find the 2023 release is hazmat at 140 proof and delicious 👌

First store,widow Jane lucky 13? I can’t find the JDSBS rye. I passed on an EC barrel proof. Bernheim was a good score. I’ll be watching for reviews. Delaware is such a trap. They make up for not having sales tax, trust me. ✌️

Thanks for the review. I had one in my hand the other and I put it back. I'm not a huge fan of Widow Jane, so I appreciate your notes! Something to consider.

Most reviewers are really scared to give mediocre whiskey a truly mediocre grade. Baby Jane is certainly not Good - Really Good. It's at best a C on your scale and I would actually call it an overpriced D. The age and proof don't line up in this market for a $50 bottle. Don't be afraid to call a spade a spade - and this is not a B Grade. If GTS/Pappy 15 is an S that would be an A is something like Bombergers/Michters 10 (in my opinion). The B tier would be full of all those other great bottles that just aren't top shelf. Examples would be Russels Private selects, Eagle Rare (if you like the BT profile), Maker's BEP, Some ECBP and Larceny batches (but not all), and etc. Baby Jane doesn't compare to any of those levels. It compares most favorably against something like Weller SR (which I could call a C), or Blanton's (also a C in my opinion due to low proof, flavor, and age for the MSRP). The most direct comparison would be something like Redwood Empire Lost Monarch which is my quintessential daily sipper/good low proof budget whiskey. Speaking of... Lost Monarch clears Baby Jane by a mile for $10-20 less depending on your market.

Skip the HH 20 year corn whiskey. Had a pour of it at Jail Break. Astringent and horrible. Or just consider you saved $1300.

I have their St Patrick's edition that I paid $50 for. After seeing your review, I think I'll just stick with Barrell Spirits, cheaper and better flavor profile in my OP

You're definitely running in my circles. ABD prices are ridiculous. I spoke to the owner once. He said people come up from VA and pay for them. He will barter a little, but I'll never go back. Nick's is awesome. They have the best prices, just not the best selection.

Nice review, I’ve been sipping their new piggyback bourbon and was curious about the 10 year. I think I’m going to hold off and get something else for the $80 price tag.

Justin, you’re doing a great job and I appreciate your whiskey tier rating system. What I’d really like to see rating all of your “S” tier whiskey ratings. To tell you the truth, as a collector, I’m only interested in buying the very best whiskey out there so I would truly appreciate learning your best rated bourbons.

Good review, seen some pick that over the WT 101. I agree with your end statement, whats the point when you have good stuff. If I drank a lot regularly and was looking for that budget friendly bourbon then I would say this is an option.
