Upgrading to 8GB has better odds for working. Anything more might not work. Just go for a pair of 4GB low power SODIMM RAM, try to get Samsung or Micron branded ones.

I tried with a lot of RAM kits for 2*8GB sticks. Most of them did not work, so not recommended. Only one 16GB kit worked for me, which I pulled from another older MAC, it was made by Micron.

To be honest, it has a very slim chance. I would suggest you go to a data recovery specialist. OR, if you want to tinker like me, follow these steps only if your drive is not encrypted and this has a very slim chance of working: 1. Get a MAC SSD to USB enclosure. OR, MAC to NVME adapter and NVME to USB enclosure. 2. Pull out the SSD from your MAC and add it in your new adapter. 3. Connect your SSD to another MAC(Windows will not do, as it does not supports the Apple File System) 4. Files may appear in the external drive.

I did not encountered such issue. I have been daily driving it till date. Probably it was not used for sometime, so the data in RAM got corrupted.

This has never occurred to me. I would suggest the following: 1. Install the SSD in a desktop m.2 slot. 2. If the SSD is still over heating, install samsung magician on the desktop and update the SSD firmware. OR If it is not over heating, replace the adapter(m.2 to Apple). 3. Format the SSD and install it back into the MacBook. If you don't have a desktop with spare m.2 nvme slot, ask a friend. Else get a USB enclosure for nvme SSD. Use USB to connect the enclosure to another system for Firmware Update. Let me know in the comments if it works. Cheers.

First fix the metal bars, hold the key cap with one hand and use a tweezer to lock it into place. Then attach the key with the switch.

Mine too. Working just fine, then I left the room. Came back to it stuck on power up. I mean the boot up chime sounds for only a second then powers off then powers on again.

The type of SSD is the same as the one shown in the video. In order to fix it you can just use the nvme to apple converter and any m.2 nvme SSD. But for recovery of data it is complex. There is 10~15% chance that the SSD will be readable with an apple SSD to USB adapter/enclosure. And, thanks to Apple, the adapters are expensive and hard to find. If everything goes well, the drive will only be readable from a Mac.

No. I had no luck finding an adapter which converts Apple SSD Connector to USB.

I have been using this Mac Book from 2012. I am writing this comment using the same Mac Book. Hopefully, it will be good for at least next couple of years or more.

I started the restore sequence. In my case I used the option to factory reset and install Mac OS from Network.

There are some adapters(with battery) available which converts USB Keyboards to Bluetooth. But, those are hard to come by. Probably sometime in the future I will try come up with a DIY solution.

Nope, the laptop died during the creation of the video, some traces were corroded due to age of the laptop.

Yup, It works flawlessly. Not getting the maximum speed the SSD is rated for, but still quite faster than a SATA SSD. No special configuration or BIOS Change was required. Post installation I just switched the Boot Device selection from BIOS.

This is 2012 Model only. The process will be same. I also had the same issue when I added the non compatible RAM. You can try to boot the MAC with 1 RAM stick at a time to find the faulty on or to check whether both are faulty, then replace the faulty RAM and hopefully it will solve the issue.

I did not screwed the adapter down, the screw holes did not align properly. Also, I plugged in the battery connector after forcefully jamming in the SSD adapter.

Hopefully it will work, but still need to double check. The oldest model I got this working on was MacBook Pro 2012.

It was already enabled in my case, in order to view the nVME drive use the Disk Management to assign the drive. While installing OS, it is also visible.

Please make sure to connect the HDMI cable to the output on the Graphics Card, not the motherboard. Hope this helps.

It will not make much of a difference, the components which you mentioned are of better quality and will have a longer warranty. But, the generic RAM was about half the price and I already had the spare WD Blue m.2 nVME SSD lying around from a previous build.

In this video I have used m.2 nVME SSD(WD Blue 250GB), you can use 2.5" SATA SSD too, but the former is the faster option.

Non graphically demanding titles like Fifa or CS GO, etc. can be played just fine, especially indie titles. Don't expect to run AAA titles without adding a discreet GPU, I would highly recommend a RTX 3050, the price is coming down lately.

Update your Quest to the latest firmware, you can find the option in the settings menu. It will take hardly 10-15 minutes. Then the game will appear on the Quest Store.
