This ever-growing channel features sheet music transcriptions in standard notation for ludomusicological purposes. I do not own the rights to the recordings. These are not arrangements, but literal note-for-note transcriptions. Some instrument names are left ambiguous because the sounds themselves are ambiguous. Can't really hear the second distorted guitar from bar 10 onwards
Yep, it's really quiet and a beat later than the main one. It's there for a delay effect, making the original not as dry.
So many memories with this one!
superb !
I feel like FFV did not have a single snowy mountain in it, hah.
I have to play it again! I was streaming the pixel remasters on my Twitch channel so I could do some real-time music analysis, but real life got in the way.
I really love your contents! everytime I come across your works I enjoy!
HOT, HOT, HOT, HOT, HOT, HOT, HOT DOG!
It's clear where Toby Fox got his inspiration for Once Upon A Time!
Yep, Undertale was highly inspired by EarthBound, and a lot of the tunes come from this game. Such simple yet strong melodies.
I didn't think the staccato notes on pulse 1 were correct until 1:02 made it more obvious.
OYE BRO! QUE BONITO SUENA,Y POR CIERTO PRIMERO,SU LIKE😎👍!
So damn good
Keep the Mother/EB scores coming :) Thank you!
Interesting: my phone (?) mutes half of the channels. Forcing mono doesn't help but on headphones it works normally.
one of the left/right channels polarity is inverted so mono and sides are flipped so youre hearing all the stereo information instead
Good ear! Coincidently, one of my studio monitors is on its way out, so I noticed these issues but thought it was my equipment.
I always feel there's something different about the instrument samples in this game... it sounds a bit like when the stereo channels are out of phase, but I'm not sure if that was the case
Changos, ¿Cómo lo hago en sólo piano?
What is this song inspired from? I hear"On Broadway" for just a second. The neon lights line?
I hear it as 4+3+3+3+2, 4+3+4+4 is definitely different and interesting in its own way
Rarely heard this track back in the day, considering none of us kids could beat Dark Link.
Ha, I couldn't even *get* to Dark Link as a kid. I didn't beat this game until I could play it on the Switch and could rewind and save states. Though, there is a cheap strategy for Dark Link when you can just kneel in the corner, which was nice.
I love this!
Beautiful😅
Why do you go for per channel staff transcription in these? In earlier chiptune systems, it makes sense, but when it's sampled instruments, why not just combine to make single instrument staves? You combined channels for the Bassoon, why not for the electric piano as well? It's much more readable that way. Either way, thank you for your transcriptions, your work is very much appreciated!
I do it this way because I want to know what's going on under the hood, so to speak. If I didn't, there would be no way of knowing that Uematsu had to separate the "flute" and "bassoon" (scare quotes because these aren't real instruments) into different channels into order to make them sound legato. I split the difference with the two parts you mentioned for this reason; it was easier to see the melody if I combined those two pairs of channels. But, the rest of the channels get their own track because that's what's happening in the PlayStation file. I debated putting the piano on one grand staff, but I also wanted to-again-give the information in the driest way possible to show exactly what's happening on each channel. These are transcriptions of what the PlayStation is reading, not arrangements. Regardless, thanks for your support and glad you find these useful!
Yessss a new final fantasy 7 video! (Still scared about how can you do these many transcriptions this fast)
It helps that FFVII used the PlayStation's on-board sound chip. This way, I can listen to each channel individually. It's just tedious recording each channel one-by-one into my DAW so I can rewind/slow-down if necessary. Glad you enjoy FFVII; will try to upload some more from this game each week!
@@VGMTranscriptions I see I see, trying to watch all of the uploads!
This listen was the first time it occurred to me that this is a duet, high voice then low then both… idk
No one has ever heard those last few notes because the encounter rate is so high in this dungeon lol
just me, or is the music a whole step down from the audio?
Maybe check your computer's sample rate? This one is A=440 and should sound as written.
las mas epica de la franquicia
I love the psp version of this music
I haven't heard that specific one, but I've played the PlayStation and Pixel Remaster and loved those renditions, too. As much as I love the composition in FF1, the 8-bit sounds really detract form it, as there is no vibrato or "chiptune tricks" that give it personality. Arrangements of these tracks are very much welcome.
oh man I forgot about this one, its a banger
I can't believe that the music for this bgm and this game in general was written by the person who would later write the Final Fantasy music!
There are a few Final Fantasy-isms here though! The tresillos, the sequencing tetrachords at m. 2, the use of the ♭VII chord, etc.
Have to agree that the 29/16 does make sense. Proud to be a Patreon of such things!
Thanks for your support! And yep, that weird transition is just 9 groups of 3 and then two bonus notes...
This still blows my mind its uematsu
I was thinking "damn, this is better than a lot of the early NES soundtrack... I wonder who wro... oh, say no more".
A lot of these FF1 loop transitions seem awkward to me. I had not realized while playing the games but it is more apparent to me watching the score
The originsl final fantasy was the game that formed my love of music, and the temple of fiends, specifically, was the track that made me want to play music.
Nice! It was FFIV (FF2 on the SNES, specifically) that made me want to be a composer.
@VGMTranscriptions FF4 was the game that convinced me that music in a video gsme could be even better than what I thought.
VGM Transcriptions ?! Wow!
You are amazing! 🙏🙏🙏
Excellent works as always!! No matter how many times I listen to this song, I can't figure out the bass sounds of low strings .... If you don't mind, will you please tell me how to you transcribe it?
Thanks! I transcribe SNES games with a software that allows me to hear the 8 channels from the SPC-700 individually. Then I just write what I hear into Sibelius. I do have soundfonts that tell me what the instruments are sampled after, but they're a bit dubious, so I just take a guess.
@@VGMTranscriptions I see....Thank you.
WOW, a favorite of mine transcribed so perfectly!
Thank you for this and ALL your transcriptions! I have learned a lot through studying them.
Thanks! I'm glad my transcriptions are useful to you.
I still don't get how can you transcribe this well everything you do, your work deserves way more subs!
Thanks, glad you enjoy it! This one took many hours because I had to record each channel separately from the .psf file so I can hear what's going on.
Nice Movie ! Sub & Big Like ! And Love Final Fantasy Games !
I wish I could experience again for the first time stepping onto the world map and hearing this theme.
Sounds like hours and hours of my childhood ❤
This entire channel is so cool tbh
Thanks a bunch. I'm gonna create a piece using this transcription! I LOVE what you do. It frees up time so I can concentrate on the project at hand. Your hard work helps me a lot.
That's why I make these. There is a lot on the internet, but most of what I found are arrangements or are filled with errors. I want to make my own mistakes, but also learn how these composers created these works.
thank you very much for your continued sharing of such transcriptions.
Ive always liked the dawn of souls arrangement of this piece. It repeats three times - but the third time, that A# is lowered to an A natural, giving the music a more sombre but determined feel to me. I find it interesting how a single note can completely change the feeling of music.
Little things like that are really interesting. That's why one day I want to analyze all the arrangements to see how they differ, both musically and timbrally.
A masterpiece! Interesting how the am bass part "c" gets unison with the arpeggio; I can't discern it, whereas it's easily located in the fm pattern. Happy new year Gregg!!
Appreciate the sheet music! Let’s keep music notation alive❤❤ Subscribed!!
Now that your great transcription drew my attention to this song again, I'm just thinking about how much it reminds me of the castlevania: order of ecclesia song "Ebony Wings". Probably a coincidence, different composers from different time periods after all, but still, quite uncanny!
A classic.. but a total mind-flip without the airship noises :-P
