    I have had it on DVD for many years. It's one of the few DVD movies I watch from time to time. I cannot really justify it easily and I dislike the ending but I still like the thriller-horror theme, mental health and war trauma theme and the acting is solid. Before the supernatural aspect most of it is somewhat believable.

    Dude I thought the same thing when I saw this. It looks like what gritty street level superhero shows should be. And to see some modern Daredevil characters in the mix here is awesome. The only thing I don’t wanna see at all is Elektra-Devil - count me out if that happens. But I’m glad the Foggy Nelson retcon happened and everyone is back for this. Daredevil is my absolute favorite Marvel character above maybe Elsa Bloodstone and Blade. Can’t wait for this - I hope they go less into the Netflix U direction and kinda reset with the same people kinda honoring what happened there but goes into a slightly different direction. I wanna keep this story isolated from the remnants of that as much as possible. lol.

    Serious question as someone recently interested in this community: Why physical media? I can stream for completely free 90% of all television and movies ever created and I have an extremely cheap hard drive for torrented/pirated copies of the other 10% with high quality scans of the front and back covers and spine of all the cases for all these movies and shows. It’s infinitely cheaper, easier to store, easier to move, easier to watch (as opposed to inserting a dvd or worse, a vhs you then must rewind), than a physical copy. I’m not dissing your hobby and i’m a strong believer of “to each their own” i’m just assuming there must be some perceived preference, real or imagined, to a physical copy and i’m just curious what that is! That looks like a hell of a collection behind you! Thanks!

    I’ve noticed this in the past with a few things but my thing isn’t getting bootlegs or damaged discs. I’d get sets like Tales From The Crypt and have them all but season 1’s second disc because they gave me a duplicate disc 1 for season 1. I had this happen when I ordered the Swamp Thing movie set that was notorious for having two copies of return of the swamp thing and not the OG movie. I even noticed when Walmart had in the Scream Factory The Fly collection - The Fly II sometimes had two-3 dupes in the box sets lol. When it comes to series or collections or what have you - I think that’s where the annoying stuff always happens. My brother ordered the original drop of the F13 scream factory box set and for example - F13 Part 3 ‘s audio was messed up and Part 7’s entire transfer looked like s***. Until scream factory rectified that with customers, he was stuck with the bag. And from what I heard, some company bought up the defunct sets and sold them all over eBay and continued the pattern making everything worse lol. Great video Mike!

      Man, this shit is getting out of hand lol. I got Pinky and the Brain’s complete series today, and bought it supposedly new from Amazon. Clearly had been opened, some of the discs had light scratches, and the pamphlet inside was bent up to hell, like someone got angry with it. So sick of this shit. I clicked on my order on the app, it says it was actually sold by Gruv and not Amazon, but when I click on the picture to take me back to the actual item’s page? Says it’s shipped by Amazon. Dude, I’ve really stewed over this today, and I don’t even want to buy online anymore, after this last few months of this crap. Hadn’t even heard about the Swamp Thing issue, but I had heard about the others being massive problems. We deserve better, as customers.

    I’m spending 2025 focusing on my absolute Wantlist. Blind buys will be solely $10 or less, no matter what format. I’m convinced 3 things will happen: 1. Big studios will only be releasing Blu-ray’s in conjunction with 4K - meaning you have to buy the 4k to get the Blu-ray now. 2. Gimmick releases will continue to become the norm. Slipcovers? Steelbook? Nope - we going $80 deluxe collector sets with extra material and collectors will buy it to have their 14th copy of whatever movie for the extra stuff. 3. The secondhand market will begin to inflate dramatically. As big box rolls back carrying physical media, and as media shops start to die off or whatever, prepare for the prices just to keep rising on stuff you want. Honorable mention: 1. Amazon will probably discontinue carrying shows disc sets, in part due to their massive Prime push the past two years. I see more and more shows show up out of stock in the website and the prices like NEVER go down. Once that stuff is gone, say goodbye. On the whole - I’m gonna try my absolute best to find stuff at places like 2nd and Charles, FYE, and Barnes and Noble - the only real reliable physical media places in my area now if Walmart decides to stop selling it. I’ve even considered going hybrid with having a digital media archive for stuff I don’t necessarily want or need in physical. And consolidate my collection to stuff I’m ultimately happy having forever basically. It sucks to be priced out of the market on a good amount of stuff and I’ve just accepted the situation at hand at this point. Great video Mike god bless!

    • @MichaelKikle
      @MichaelKikle หลายเดือนก่อน

      Dude, I feel you 1000% about going at a mixture of the two things (physical and digital). Thought a lot about that, over the years, and-from what I understand-Apple is the only notable that won’t remove things from your library, even if they’re delisted by licensing issues. I’m getting priced out of the market, too, and I’m pretty pissed how the community tries to justify it, at this point. We only get what we put up with, at this point, in my opinion. I’m trying to accept the situation, and, in some ways, I like digital more when it comes to things like books, because of lighting in my living room and bedroom hahah. Kindle helped a ton with that, over the years. Think we should make videos on the pricing-out-of-the-market thing? Lmao. I’d love to see you cover that. Hope you have a great 2025, bro! God bless!

    It sounds like you really haven’t kept up with things. LG is stopping production because their players haven’t sold thanks to them being the worst on the market. Samsung also had the worst. Panasonic and Sony will continue to make players because they actually have good 4K and Blu-ray players. As to 4K, I think you need to understand that the reason why 4K TVs and Blu-ray Discs exist is that the theoretical highest resolution of 35 mm film print is 4K. That’s why we have 4K existing and when a movie is remastered in 4K properly, it will look its best. Wizard of Oz, White Christmas, the Harry Potter films, Star Wars, Back to the Future, have all been released on 4K and they look amazing! Yes, regular blu-ray is great. But once you realize that some were done poorly, like the Harry Potter films were compressed to no end on regular blu-ray, that you will want to switch to 4K.

    • @MichaelKikle
      @MichaelKikle หลายเดือนก่อน

      No, I just disagree with people like yourself lol. I think 4K is clearly a scam that people are falling for, and the details don’t look any different, outside of classical movies (as you mentioned, which I also mentioned in my video). But newer movies? No, they don’t need 4K, because it looks identical to bluray lmao.

      @@MichaelKikle This argument just reminds me of when people told me HD looks the same as SD when I was at uni and I literally sat them side by side to show them the difference. 4K physically can't look the same as blu-ray when there is 4x the resolution as what blu-ray is capable of. Modern movies look significantly better on 4K blu-ray and yes, I've seen the difference. As long as the movie is mastered correctly which most movies today are, it will look better on 4K blu-ray. Comparing it to something like Laserdisc is a false equivalence.

      @@MichaelKikle Ah, you are just looking at the 4K resolution/ details. But what you seem to not understand is that the 4K format is more than just resolution. It’s improved contrast and brightness through HDR, expanded color palette, and bigger storage (66 & 100 GB), allowing less compression of the image. Now yes, some newer movies have smaller differences between the regular blu-ray and the 4K. The main differences though are the improved colors and contrast/brightness, which provides more accurate picture to what the filmmaker intended for you to see. If you want proof, search up HD Numerique here on TH-cam. He has plenty of comparison videos that show the differences between BD and 4K BD.

      Did you see that even DVDs are being priced at $30-$35 buy in prices brand new for movies like Deadpool and Wolverine. I buy all types of physical media from VHS-4K. But I’ll be damned, I won’t pay $30-$35 for a DVD. Yeah it’s cheaper than a $40-$45 bluray and what have you. The days of cheap physical media will die once big box dumps off inventory and they get liquidated for tax write offs. Walmart owns a dvd company which is why they’re able to slash prices, but if they go, oh prepare for the crossroads there. DVDs always have and should be cheap, imo. That’s really their only selling point to me, even as of today. I’ll pay $2 for a dvd or maybe a $10-$12 Walmart flier movie. But $30-$35? Let them burn lol.

    Discs are going nowhere. People have been saying this for twenty years. I roll my eyes when people say Blu-Ray and 4k discs are under threat. Physical media is here to stay. Even media that long since vanished, like Vinyl, came back. Heck, even VHS tapes are now being produced. I will copy and post this exact same comment on TH-cam in the next twenty years 😁

      Look, I hope you’re right, but the manufacturing industry and the push from media companies to go all-digital for future releases is already happening with things like the now-two-years-old Texas Chainsaw sequel. We have a bunch of Star Wars shows that are stuck on digital, as well-and I mean the good ones, like Tales of the Jedi and Visions, not the shitty, live action garbo lol. I want to believe that streaming will collapse before physical will, since it’s not making money for these companies, but the way normies don’t buy any physical movies and the way the companies are forcing us into this position points the opposite direction, to me.

    I have two setups: a Bluray 3D compatible tv from like 2017 with a Panasonic 4k/bluray 3d player that upscales DVDs and Blu-ray’s. Then I have a Sony 4k standard player with no real noticeable upscale for DVDs. And I have of course an AVI adapted VHS/dvd player that has terrible resolution but it plays and works. I’ll speak my mind on which is superior: DVD, Blu-ray, 4K. It honestly all depends on your setup and hardware. Remember once upon a time surround sound systems from Bose were all the rage but once technology suppressed the technology into smaller and smaller and smaller speakers. People were constantly updating and adapting that alone in a span of 5-6 years in the late 2000’s. That’s essentially what a solid 4k player is today, you get everything in one and you don’t need just a Blu-ray or old Bluray system. As you brought up, video games have hit peak resolution and quality and there’s no real need to keep pushing it further. But for movies, like physical video games, are dying because streaming and downloading into a system or even TV that automatically upgrades resolution makes it kind of obsolete to collect physical media. UNLESS, there’s a 4K of an older film with a specific label and specs that you can really get only with the disc. And then the special features and what have you, that will probably be more missed than anything else if physical media up and died tomorrow. As far as LG discontinuing the player, it makes since given that Blu-ray’s haven’t really been “top dog” since they put HD DVD out of production. Even when they were the highest resolution, the tvs when it was at the highest didn’t show much output difference than a DVD that was upscaled even then to a relatively nice Panasonic or LG player. Yeah it was superior, and nowadays it’s considerably more affordable than a 4K making it competition. Sometimes it’s hard to tell a difference between Bluray and 4k but then again - it depends on your hardware. The writing is on the wall when it comes to players, but I don’t think they’ll stop being made because when the quantity decreases due to lack of demand, the demand still there will still warrant a company to keep producing players. My biggest worry is that when players become down to maybe 2-3 reliable companies, they’re not gonna make as much and the prices are gonna be INSANE or the quality of player will begin to suffer because the don’t have to stake much reputation given it’s a dying collectible essentially to even buy movies physically. I think your best bet is to just buy a 4k player with resolution adjustment, and make sure your tv (as long as it isn’t pre-4k) can utilize 4k input. You’ll be able to play everything minus Beta,VHS, and Laser Disc and have decent quality of whatever you play. If it has Bluray 3d compatible features, buy them Bluray glasses while you still can lol. Anyways, great video Mike!

    • @MichaelKikle

      Nah, Man, I hate the bluray 3D and 4K hahah. The 4K specifically because of the insane prices for movies, that just shows one more red flag of the physical market dying-out, sadly. I can’t believe people are buying each Star Wars movie, for example, for near $50. Deadpool and Wolverine for nearly $70, for the steelbooks. People like me won’t switch over, because I just don’t think the difference is noticeable at all, unless it’s an old movie. To comment on the surround sound system you brought-up, that’s actually an interesting side to the conversation, because I still hate surround sound to this day, if it’s in a house instead of a theater. Ruins the experience for me. I think too many are diving into these insane, more expensive tech pieces for movies, and the new movies and shows are so bad, they aren’t usually worth the price of buying all this lame, new equipment, to most people that feel more like myself about things like 4K. I just don’t think any of this new stuff is worth it, man.

    • @goosebumpscompletionist7709
      @goosebumpscompletionist7709 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @ I don’t think you quite picked up on my point. Look at CD’s for example. When’s the last time you seen CD players for sale at Walmart but they still sell cds? People are playing them somewhere right? They play them in cars, gaming systems, players etc. The cd market is still alive because they adapted through the shift to MP3/Ipods killing the very players initially designed for them. Not having a physical Blu-ray player wouldn’t render Blu-ray obsolete, because the hardware you need to play one is all on a 4k, which upgrades the quality for you if you have the right hardware. I get it man - the days of cheap media are over and it’s become a niche market and average joes are being priced out by market dictated prices and secondary market prices on stuff. It’s a shame, but the comic industry has been dealing with that shit for years lol. A 1000 copy ratio key issue is going to sell 1000x more than a used trade featuring the same issue cause of collectability or to say you have it. Movies are becoming that way sadly. But like I said a simple solution is: just buy the 4k player. You don’t need to buy 4k, just use its hardware to play what you buy. That’s all I’m saying. I just think the panic over a Blu-ray player getting discontinued isn’t serious when the main 3 are still making 4k’s, now if all of them said “hey we aren’t making any players anymore, no matter the type” then the real shitshow begins because available hardware is now cut off at the legs. Plus, Panasonic is better than LG on their players. They’re more durable and last longer, and I’ve had both of mine for like 5-6 years and never had any issues with them. But if you don’t wanna go that route, I’d suggest you’d buy a few backup Blu-ray’s just in case I guess. (Not saying you will but to all the panicked people out there spending more on 4 Blu-ray players than one or two 4k players). It’s all just silly to me personally.

I couldn't see much of a difference in Bluray and 4k, but then I bought a 75" OLED with Dolby Vision, and it truly was like night and day. I'm NOT saying that you aren't correct in what your saying about the majority of the public not swinging towards 4k physical media and that's because the majority of the public are streaming 4k and even with HDR that's still only going to look equivalent to Bluray on most people's tv's. What I'm saying is the fact that you are wrong in saying bluray's are just as goid as 4k. I'm sorry, but that's just not even close to being true. Try projecting a bluray up on a 100" screen and tell me what it looks like and then put a properly remastered 4K up on that same screen and if you can't see the difference then you need to get glasses or something. Most people are NOT even going to buy Bluray players anymore, and that's why LG is getting out of the player game. Strong disagree. The artistic visuals this director puts in his films stands alone. The representation of Greek gods is about the coolest and unique I’ve seen in a film and some of the badass moments are top tier. I would rather put this on than 300 at this point. If you want an overall better film of his, try The Fall. Also, in terms of film making evolution, this is one of the first really combining green screen and practical sets. Now we got the Volume that’s perfected that method. Thanks for giving it a chance though.
