Meandering Molly
United Kingdom
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 22 พ.ย. 2010
"Meandering Molly" is a channel primarily about our adventures aboard Molly of Mylor, a Cornish Crabber 26. We are based on the Solent, but have travelled far and wide in the three seasons we have owned her. We've made many friends on our travels and hope to make many more - leave a comment if we met you in one of our journeys. I also enjoy scuba and other outdoor pursuits, so sometimes post videos about them too. In between posting videos, I produce a text blog at meanderingmolly.uk

@sailing-windbreker - lovely singing Else!
Very clear video! Thank you for sharing. What inflatable tender are you using? I am exploring getting a Truekit Navigator 300. Trying to get one that I could occasionally fly with as checked in luggage.
@@sambarjack mines a Crewsaver air deck 2.7m. It would be pretty heavy to fly with.
Very relaxed (tho possibly not so much for you :) ) and enjoyable jaunt. I love The Netherlands, in spite of its flatness - maybe because of it - there's always something interesting to look at, and the people are great. Can i ask what resources you use for planning trips in this part of the world? Im looking to do something similar so any help appreciated.
Thanks for the comments. It was more stressful when I was solo! I was lucky - it was a rally and we were given a lot of guidance. There is a good Imray guide and I also found a Dutch book called “ANWB wateratlas Staande Mastroute” (all in Dutch but a really great resource). There’s also an app called Water Map Live, which is not free but is excellent. I’m working on a video summarising my experiences and advice on the Standing Mast Route. It will be out in a few weeks.
@erbster200 Oh that sounds very useful, thank you.
Very nice video of a lovely trip through the Netherlands an well documentated-Thanks! I made the "Staande Mastroute" 3-times from Zeeland to Makkum (Ijsselmeer) and have been to the Wijnhaven of Dordrecht as well- what a nice place to be!? Even their (little) clubhouse and their sanitary-facilities are very nearby and a massive plus for sailors with small boats. I will make this route in the next summer again - but this time southwards (and back). Best regards from Germany and my little "Halcyon 23 - Plan C", Linus
Glad you enjoyed the video! Thanks for your comments. Yes, the clubhouse at Wijnhaven was very welcome (especially the wifi!). I'm sure I will make this trip again some time and, when I do, I would like to travel North in the IJsselmeer to the Frisians.
@@erbster200 : If you`ll ever going northwards with your vessel give MAKKUM a visit - it´s a nice little town and surely one of the best harbours at the entire Ijsselmeer....(Marina Makkum)...!
I don't have money to leave a tip now, but thanks for the tip of asking for a tip. 🎩
Total waste of money. We should immediately disband the entire armed forces. We have already pissed away Great Britain so have nothing left to defend.

What a lovely fleet of boats and i hope you enjoyed your trip. I made the "Staande Mastroute" for 3 times (Zeeland to Makkum-NL) by several sailing vessels and it was such a pleasure. @erbster200 sucks to be you, if there is a que to get out and the road outside is busy, it takes longer to get out. 🤷🏼♂️ Also if you reverse bay park, it will be easier to get out of the bay when it's busy like that.
@erbster200 use a different car park next time. 🤷🏼♂️ Busy road, busy exit, busy car park. Can't blame the council for other people doing what you're also doing. Reversing into a bay will make getting out with traffic like this a lot easier.

Which mark is molly? Do you know the year she was built?
@@meep599 Molly is a Cornish Crabber 26, sail number 33 built 2015
@erbster200 is that MK III or V
@@meep599 I think you are confusing my Crabber 26 with the Crabber 24. There has only been one design of the CC26. The mark V CC24 looks somewhat similar to the CC26 having a similar cockpit but smaller cabin accommodation

Having just stumbled across this channel I must say I really enjoyed the video. I love being on the water but sadly it’s far too infrequent, so spending time aboard with you on this trip was a real delight. Many thanks 🙏
Thank you TH-cam for this recommendation (i.e. new to the channel). Great editing. Love the waving province of Zealand flag as a visual element.. Present day motorized inland shipping seems awfully close. Just wondering: do you guys carry AIS? Thx and Cheers, Jan.
Thanks for watching and I’m glad you enjoyed it! Yes, the shipping is pretty close, so one has to keep a sharp look out (especially behind!). I fitted an AIS transducer for this trip; previously I had a receiver so I could see commercial vessels but I wanted to be sure they could see me too.
Great vlog, I particularly liked the close ups around 4 minutes, it gave a feel to the grace of your vessels.
This series across to NL is great 👍🏻

A beautiful sight to see again, its been so long starlings ❤🎉❤xxx
A gem. Seeing the gaffers in a place familiar to imagination from childhood reading of Secret Water is a treat.
@@MatthewFelgate-r4u thank you
Why no vang ?
@@squiddly-diddly it’s not really needed on a gaffer. The wooden boom is very stiff, so a vang (kicking strap) has no effect on boom shape. The main sheet pulls the boom down sufficiently on its own. When the wind is strong (but not so strong as to need a reef), because the main is large, it is helpful to let the boom lift a bit and dump a little power.
Absolutely delightful vid showing it is still possible to have a good time in the channel if you know what you're doing. Bon Voyage.

Freedom at last. Living at natures pace. Superb. ❤
Good to know there are more people on their boat these days, going back in two days for another leg from Amsterdam to Zeeland
Fascinating, watching from NZ where we don't have the shipping traffic or the big tides. Having ambitions to do something similar in the future in your neck of the woods in a shallow gaff cutter with a decent spread of sail, this is educational on how to do it without drama.

@@erbster200 powerhouse of the industrial revolution! We seldom get more than a knot here.
Those blocks and beachfronts on the coastline were unfortunately all developed after ww2 when the economy picked up and more people were able to afford holidays at sea and such.… by the time the government and the people realized that perhaps there is more than profit and that the original dune landscape is worthy of protection, most of it was already gone😢 as usual one step too late and no vision for the future…oh well
