Arm Styling Foundations: Brazilian Zouk Technique for Followers
มุมมอง 2.6K4 ปีที่แล้ว
Do you wonder how the top dancers always have arm movements that look elegant and NATURAL? In this video I explain how arm movements are created through your core, resulting in an arm line that is in synch with your body's movement, looks authentic and FLOWS. I also give you one simple arm line/styling option that is my 'go-to' flowing arm movement. If you like this video, make sure you SUBSCRI...
Lateral Styling #1 : Brazilian Zouk Training for Followers
มุมมอง 2.8K4 ปีที่แล้ว
This is the first in my series of Styling Videos! I give 5 options to style your lateral (Flick to the front, Slide, Flick to the Back, Booty Roll & Swirl) without changing the footwork position - ie taking 2 steps forward followed by a pivot. This is opposed to lateral styling where the 2nd step is replaced with a styling option, therefore reducing the distance travelled in the lateral. It's i...
Bonus (Boomerang) - Brazilian Zouk Technique for Followers
มุมมอง 4.2K5 ปีที่แล้ว
Bonus is one of the foundational moves of Brazilian Zouk and in this video I run through 3 basic versions. Bonus was also known as boomerang because of the "going and coming back" feel of the move, however the Brazilian Zouk Council made the official name, "Bonus" because, as the story goes, it was the "bonus" move taught at the end of a class. Watch and practice along with the video for a full...
Snake & Melt (Side Bodyroll & side Revese Bodyroll) - Brazilian Zouk Technique for Followers
มุมมอง 2.6K5 ปีที่แล้ว
These movements can come really naturally to some people but if that's not you, then this video will help to explain the progression of each movement through the body, and how is works with weight transfer. Even if snake and melt just 'work' for you, it's really helpful to analyse the movement and understand WHY it works and then be able to accentuate it, make it bigger or smaller with INTENT. ...
Cambre (Dip) - Brazilian Zouk Technique for Followers
มุมมอง 2.4K5 ปีที่แล้ว
The Cambre (maybe known as a dip) in Brazilian Zouk is used often especially to accent a phrase ending or peak in the music and gives the ILLUSION of a backwards bend. In order to complete this movement safely, however, there is actually very little bending in the back, especially not in the lower back. Watch and practice along with the video for a full explanation and then really get the techn...
Counter Balance -Train the Body Without a Partner - Dancer's Conditioning Workout #2

Conditioning your body to build strength in areas particular for dancers is, in my opinion, super important and often overlooked during dance workshops and classes. Conditioning will help to take your dancing to the next level, get you out of your rut and increase the trajectory of your improvement up and away from that plateau. I recommend doing this entire playlist of 9 tracks 2-3 times each ...

AMAZING explanation! You're so detailed. I keep tensing up my shoulders and couldn't figure how to keep them down and relaxed. Now I understand that the technique is to focus opening the chest all thanks to this video! I was feeling discouraged because I don't have a dance partner to practice zouk with, since I live so far from the social events, but when I saw "no leader, no excuses" that was enough for me to get off my couch and practice on my own! Thank you for your generosity! I am truly forever grateful for your videos!

Thanks so much for doing this during quarantine! These styling videos are exactly what I’ve been looking for. One suggestion is to show the moves in the beginning of the video with music for a few seconds so I know what I’ll be learning. Otherwise, I forward to the end to watch a slower summary before starting the video from the beginning. I think it would help a lot!

Hi and thankyou! No I haven't come across anything which is for leaders to practice alone. Many of my videos can obviously work for both lead and follow but yes, it would be good to have a channel targeted at leaders. If I come across something I will let you know. xo Jane
