I am looking at getting a diesel. Coming from an 08 f150 and I had the 5.4. So now I’m wanting the reliability out of a 7.3. Also I know these trucks are pre emissions and have no emission limits or however it’s worded exactly. How true is this? And how bad is it on the motor to “roll coal” especially with the 7.3 and not having the emission standards?
"Rolling coal" is just a fancy term for wasting fuel. Other than that the only thing you have to watch for if you put power to the engine is the automatic transmission not being able to handle it. As far as I know the manuals are as good as you can get a 7.3
The 7.3 is reliable. However,don’t expect it to hold up very long with big injectors and a turbo. I wouldn’t recommend going much over a 140hp tune. Anything more and the tranny will go(on the auto at least)

Get a 5.9 and pull the engine so you can put it in a good truck, or just get a 7.3 and have it run and drive without a swap.

No I don't get it. I have a 6.0 with the basic stuff every 6.0 should have. I also have a 90hp Scion xB that can do burnouts in sand or dirt. These trucks can be quick on the streets. But when people look at these videos and see half of the trucks spinning in dirt and sand they just roll their eyes 🙄 Dirt and Sand burnouts 🤨 I wouldn't waste my fuel!

@@powerstrokeparadise2342 Are you sure it's a 6.4? At 5:51 you can see that the running lights are under the headlight and on a stock 6.4 they're in the middle of the light assembly. Could be aftermarket lights though, idk

Jacob G, yup. We got click baited on this one. If you slow the playback speed to 25% you can see the lights are the same as a 6.0 or they used the same ones for the 7.3, but the sound is a 6.0. The 7.3 as a distinct sound that is like a 6.0 but it’s not, if you’re by a road & hear that distinct sound you know it’s a 6.0.

I never liked how 6.0 injectors sound and the vgt turbo noise is overkill, especially the powermax. I’ll take the raspy sound of a 7.3 any day.
