Hello everyone, my name is Sayo Watano. I’m Japanese painting \u003cNihonga\u003e artist living in Germany 🇯🇵🇩🇪🇪🇺
I am Introducing the production process of Japanese paintings in order to spread the beautiful Japanese culture to the world.
In my work, I use Japanese patterns drawn in traditional Japanese crafts as a motif. I would be happy if more people became interested in Japanese traditional crafts and Japanese paintings through my work.
My artwork expresses an impression of the classic music such as atmosphere, rhythm, melody and so on through Japanese painting. That’s because the theme of my art is to deepen mutual understanding between people by connecting Japanese and European cultures.
Japanese paintings take time to produce, so I upload videos little by little.

Art Exhibition in Berlin X Traditional Japanese Dance and Music / Kunst am Kurfürstendamm
The opening party for the exhibition was held on September 26, 2024. In this video, we show the exhibition hall and a performance of traditional Japanese music and dance. The party was a great success, with over 100 guests attending. It was a wonderful opportunity to spread awareness of Japanese painting, which is still little known, in Germany. We would like to thank everyone involved in this exhibition.

Thank you! Cool 🤗Your torn paper art must be a wonderful work. The glue I use is a standard German glue for paper, btw. I don't like paper sticking to my fingers so I use tweezers a lot :)
This is the most beautiful chigiri-e art I have ever seen 🤩. Wow!! The circle window is so cool 😎. I have only made a frog this way and it was very hard 😅. I didn’t know there was a special glue to make it easier 😂. I used regular craft glue that dried too fast and a lot of the Paper stuck to my fingers 😢 and shredded apart lol but I finished it. The frog I made is lumpy and looks a little dirty but it was my first 😊.
