This suspect was fleeing after ADW on a deputy in the Santa Cruz Mountains. As you'll see, he had good distance on me from the beginning. 2017 F-150 in the same color. Paint peel in the same exact places! Gutter on roof is the worst. Have been using touch up paint to try and stop/slow the peeling.

@socal33 Just looking at the design of the handle, it's easy to see a major flaw in its attachment. Or it may be designed that way so that you have to buy a new one after so many pulls. Who knows?
@@leftcoastdrifter The weak spot in the system is, imho, where the metal handle meets the plastic gate. That's where the wear and tear begins to fatigue the plastic and eventually it fails like you suggest.
yep 2021 transit 350 doing it in gutters...6k miles on it..will NEVER but an american POS vehicle again..either an engine or a paint issue from the big 3 worthless builders...they used to stand for quality but no they pump out junk

Crazy. I traded mine in for a Ram Big Horn. Immaculate paint and all around better fit and finish inside and out. I love the Hemi in the Ram but that 3.5L was nice.
Iv got a 06. Had great looking paint when I bought it 4 years ago. The paint in my truck peels off tremendously in large chunks to bare metal. It’s ridiculous. It doesn’t even ware out like older other cars iv had or seen. Just peels off. I heard new paint may not adhere to the surface since it may be galvanized! Yes they don’t back uo their products at all especially with theee older 5.43valves that needed uodated better parts. And their oaint is a absolute joke !

I was just reading that Ford settled with one man in Tennessee before a class action went to court. I think Ford needs a class action on this. Absolutely unsatisfactory response by them. The paint is clearly too thin and not applied correctly in those areas.
Yup my 2018 ford f150 is doing the same - just at around 60,000 or maybe close to. They said it’s wear - I said I have owned cars longer then this and take very good care of my vehicles And this has never happened. They are like oh well. Ford guy all my life, parents also ford customers. I will never buy another one. They can’t even back up their products even though you work hard to buy these things. It’s like sorry sucker, your loss. DO NOT BUY FORD TRUCKS ! pissed and disappointed customer here.
My 2016 has all the same paint defects. Roof channels haven’t started but they appear to be soon. The tailgate under the spoiler cap is going to flake away a lot soon. Above the windshield is the absolute worst. 80 percent of it is gone from left to right about half an inch. My 1999 F250 and 2001 F150 paint are still running strong. It’s a shame Ford does not stand behind this since it’s a common issue. I’ve seen many on the roads with paint defects. I understand wear and tear policies but this should not fall under it.
That sounds pretty bad. I'm wondering when I'll have to wrap mine if I keep it for another 6 years.
I worked in a body shop that used to do dealer warrantys for toyota. It seemed like it only happened to the white paint. I had to strip the whole car with 80 grit sand paper and mask it up. They would take all the doors, hood, lights, and windows out. I think they were like 12k paint jobs. I spray a little so im going blend the tailgate 1st to see how it comes out on my white f150 ext xlt. Mine is peeling everywhere yours is. The hood has a lot of rock chips on it. I bought it used i guess im not really that disappointed. I see this all the time with white factory paint on other manufacturers too. I think theres is a problem with the E-Coating.
I ask other F150 owners here and there if they have the same issue and so far no one else has. I wonder if It's the year, a paint batch, a bad day? At least it's mostly out of sight except where I do touch ups.

It really looks like they’re missing a gutter along that line. I even saw a rubber strip on an F250 there, but not on the F150. I spent a great deal of time on the phone and mailing Ford to no avail, even when I was under warranty. I’m probably going to use a wrap or plasti-dip over it. Total manufacturers defect.
Mine only has one gate valve for the black tank. Now what?
There’s only one gate for the black track on mine as well. You just have to ensure that you have a place to empty your black take into once you pull the gate out with your pliers. AFTER the tank is empty, you replace the gate.
Mine too. I am stationary camping though and tied into septic tank. I may have to do this too as my tank wouldn't empty today when I pulled valve handle. Just trickled some of the liquid. I put bottle of enzymes in and going to try to empty again in a day or 3. Hope just a clog since gate must have opened enough to allow liquids to drain some.

Thank you for the positive feedback. After this RV, we purchased and lived in a 35' travel trailer for 5 months. Talk about a learning curve! But strangely enough, I miss it. We grew closer as a family.

Update: I found a 3/16" x 4" steel bolt with a 1/4 hex drive head and silver brazed a 1 1/4" long, steel sheet metal screw onto the thread end. Then ground the braze and head of the sheet metal screw down to fit. lined up the pointy end into the valve gate pocket and using my cordless drill with a 1/4" drive and carefully ran it into the plastic gate pocket, (the hole that the rod pulled out of), until it felt firm then used vice grips to carefully pull out the gate until it fully opened. I know that most will not have the advantage of lots of tools, but you might be able to find some kind of screw that is long enough, like a 6" deck screw or gutter screw that will work for you. I just used what was at hand and it took a total of about 30 minutes including making the tool and cussing a little when I burned my fingers.

I am an RV newbie facing the same problem, full tank. My only advantage is 40+ years of HVAC repair and problem solving, and that I am right next to my equipment shop. I didn't really get much info pertinent to my situation, but I subscribed anyway after I caught your screen name. If I have good success I'll drop you an update.
Thank you. This happened to us just the other day. Don got a "safety" gate valve to cut off anything at the main end of the system (which everyone should have anyway) and a replacement valve for the one that the handle broke off of at the tank. This is in case the broken valve won't shut again be cause we will need to flush the tank before replacing the broken one. With the safety valve at the very end we can still do that. Nice tip about the porta potty. We have a similar one.
Glad that it all worked out. No matter how hard you try with this kind of problem, it'll get messy :)

I had an interesting experience today while dumping our Thor Windsport. I have an attachment that lets you put water into the tanks for flushing them out. I asked the wife to check black tank fill level while filling. Dummy me, I went inside and pushed the buttons and nothing was working. All the sudden, gurgling in the bath sink!!! I ran out and pulled the gate valve. The sink is connected to black tank. Got it dumped just before a very nasty overflow!! Thought I would share!
Dodged that bullet!
Be gentle with those valves and lube the rods from now on !

OMG...my sister is going through this as I type. She pulled the black tank valve...and it just came out...detached....black tank is full! Hi. It performed perfectly. There are no big waves and it hits plane really fast. Enters the shallows with a 16" draft. Mine was a 2017 so there have been improvements to the design I'm sure. We sold it a year ago to get an RV, but I still like the jet boat configuration and having the changing room with a head was great.
@@socal33 did you go fishing in any of the creeks or channels or beaches in the intracoastal near St Aug? How frequent did you have issues with debris or sand getting sucked up?

Judy, I googled you to find out what ever happened to my former boss that I adored like a mother. I cried watching this. I remember when you cut your hair. Everyone in the office loved it. I remember your nails were always done. I remember coming with you to see your old dance friend, Ava Apple. I remember you introduced me to Holas. I was so close to you when we worked together. Our time here is short. I felt it while watching. Thank you for making this video, Andrew. I remember meeting you and your mom spoke about you a lot. I love that I got to see Judy again. Love, Hazel
Thank you Hazel. I think about her every day and we miss her so so much. She had many funny moments and she was my best friend too. I'll always think of how she had this relationship with the Bay Area. Her favorite places in the city. Her favorite foods and her friends. She passed away in my home with my wife and me at her side, holding her hands. She held on till the last until my wife told her, "Go dance Judy. Go dance with your friends." With that, she took her last breath and left us. I get teary eyed thinking of it but I dreamt of her this week and she looked happy, she looked at rest. God Bless and thank you for writing.
