I meant to say if we confess our sins and repent do we still get to go through an analogue pain in order to restore the equilibrium or the actual confession and repentance is good enough to absolve one from experiencing the pain/punishment? This is a bit unclear for me. Thank you!

@@ralecs8924 as far as I can understand, let's say you sin... if you truly repent and confess your sin is forgiven... but not forgotten, at some point in your life, something will happen to balance, thank you for commenting

@@4low395 Then what is the difference between this teaching and the Protestant causality-effect teaching? My understanding was that once we get the absolution for the confessed sins they are also forgotten. Knowing that you have to pay by all means brings the confusion on the value of the repentance itself.

@@ralecs8924 in Orthodoxy you don't love and trust God so that He will take care of your life problems, that's not a relationship, but like in a relationship, you trust God as your Father, and try and have faith that He will help you deal with your problems, it's not like a legal system, you pay your fine and you 're clear... on the other hand, life troubles can come even if your a saint... the confession is a most sacred mystery, God forgives you but not cause of the act, but only if you truly repent in your heart, so it' not like you expect a payback

I think his teachings are so useful, so I tried my best, it's challenging for me to translate a casual discussion and I pray I don't mess the meanings so his words can help others as well... thank you for your kind words, hope I 'll do more

@@4low395 The translations are just fine, even if some words may be a bit off - any hungry soul can fill in the gaps and imagine the correct meanings. This talk made a HUGE impact on me. Not only does he have an amazing philosophical mind (I just found out about him a couple weeks ago and am making my way through 2 of his books and ordered a third), but now, beyond belief, I see he's also a caring ground-level priest. As a result for the first time (I'm 68) I realized that God in His love will not simply supply our material needs, but that that love can also extend to our philosophical/theological queries/needs. I never thought to have faith in that and allowed myself to suffer for decades because of my philosophical problems: Bultmann, nihilism, deconstruction. With most grateful tears I now I have faith God can answer all those. "Who against hope believed in hope..." Rom 4:18 If you have any connection with him, perhaps you would thank him for me.
